Non-free files in your user space

[edit]

Hey there Gsorby, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Gsorby/Enter your new article name here. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

April 2010

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to List of EastEnders characters (2010), did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted by ClueBot.

Images

[edit]

Hey, thanks for uploading some images for the EastEnders articles. Please remember to add an appropriate licence to each image you upload, or it may be tagged for deletion. Also, it is helpful if you specify which episode the screenshot came from. Also, please note that we shouldn't really include more than say, 5 images in each of the character lists, so we try to only include them for the main characters. It's not always necessary to include an image as it doesn't greatly increase the reader's understanding of the character. AnemoneProjectors 22:38, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please note that WikiProject EastEnders has a rule that we won't give a character their own article until we have discussed whether or not to give them their own article, normally after the character has been on screen for six months or more. In fact, you might like to join the Project — see below. AnemoneProjectors 22:44, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Welcome!

Hello! You look like someone who might be interested in joining the EastEnders WikiProject and so I thought I'd drop you a line and invite you! We'd love to have you help us :-)

Orphaned non-free image File:JodieGold.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:JodieGold.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.

This has been deleted now but I can undelete it when we want to use it so don't worry :) AnemoneProjectors 01:22, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kim Fox image

[edit]

Hi, thanks for the image of Kim. It's a bit dark, but I've noticed all your pictures are a bit dark. Anything you can do about that? Also, the resolution is too high, you had it perfect before with the pictures of Glenda and the E20 crew. (Was also gonna tell you you forgot the rational but I see you've added that now.) AnemoneProjectors 19:56, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay sure, I will get a better and lower resolution of Kim! Are the Denise and Lucy images good? Please tell me. I really do enjoy doing this and hope to be an admin someday :) GSorby (talk) 19:59, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. Denise's is fine. Lucy's was better before because it's got that expression she does that was discussed in that documentary about the 100 greatest EastEnders cliffhangers. Also it's blurred. I'm going to revert that one. There's little need to keep uploading new images to replace old ones. There's no need to be "current" all the time. AnemoneProjectors 22:26, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Better source request for File:Abi Branning EE.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Abi Branning EE.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 23:54, 25 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Harry Gold

[edit]

You asked "Any point of not showing the infobox?" - the answer is we decided not to include an infobox for characters where there isn't a lot of text, thus reducing whitespace. But everyone keeps showing them so I can't keep reverting. But I've hidden Grace's because the whitespace is particularly large. AnemoneProjectors 14:40, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can always help you with that. If you want, I can remove infoboxes where there is lots of whitespace? Regards, --GSorbyDesroid 14:42, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't worry about it just yet. I plan to work through all the lists one by one and clean them all up from top to bottom, so I can do it then. AnemoneProjectors 14:51, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Please let me know if you want me to help. --GSorbyDesroid 14:52, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've rehidden Grace's infobox, I don't know why you removed the spin-offs paramenter and the previous actress, but please don't do that. AnemoneProjectors 10:19, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry? All I did was show the infobox. I didn't touch anything else. :( --GSorbyDesroid 10:31, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Have a look at your edit. Maybe you didn't mean to do it. AnemoneProjectors 11:28, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops...My bad, that was a mistake... --GSorbyDesroid 11:38, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
S'ok. Hopefully soon enough we'll be able to add more storylines to show the infobox, a little bit of whitespace should be ok, like on some others. AnemoneProjectors 11:42, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Going back to images again, I notice you uploaded a new image of Rainie twice. Was that because it looked like the old image was still showing? If you bypass your cache after the upload, it should work. Sometimes you have to do it several times, or in the article as well as the image. If it doesn't work, you can change the image width from 200px to 201px, that will do it. But it's generally just on your computer. AnemoneProjectors 21:57, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh no. I know that I have to purge the cache. I just forgot to sharpen the first one ;) --GSorbyDesroid 22:15, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see. AnemoneProjectors 23:26, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:ZsaZsa-Carter.jpg)

Just to confirm, you said in an edit summary that she isn't leaving the show. This may not be true, it just isn't confirmed. She might be leaving the show but the spoilers only say she leaves the Slaters' house. AnemoneProjectors 11:30, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But I've almost done the questions, would it be okay if I gave it a try? Regards, --GSorbyDesroid 09:29, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

RFA Closed

[edit]

Bad news, I've closed your RFA per WP:NOTNOW as the chances of success at this point are quite low... but don't let this discourage you! Most users have several months on the project, and a few thousand edits before passing RFA, and while it may sound like a lot, if you forget about wanting to be an admin and get into the rhythm of contributing, before long you'll be ready for another RFA. If you have any questions about editing or adminship, please don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Courcelles 14:19, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Like Courcelles said, please don't let this RFA get the best of you. I am confident that after gaining more experience and getting involved in plenty of maintenance tasks (i.e. WP:NPP and recent changes patrol, WP:TWINKLE will come in handy), I am confident that you will make a great administrator in the future. Good luck. Tyrol5 [Talk] 14:58, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks everybody, this means a lot. I don't feel so neglected now ;D. Regards, --GSorbyDesroid 14:59, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Rainie and Shirley

[edit]

I'm not sure the new image is really appropriate. Have you read WP:NFCC? Criterion 8 says: "Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding" and criterion 1 says: "Could the subject be adequately conveyed by text without using the non-free content at all?" That's why we rarely upload screenshots that aren't for the infoboxes anymore. Your rationale stated it was for infobox use, but it wasn't. AnemoneProjectors 20:06, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ryan Malloy's image

[edit]

Any chance you could find a better expression for a photo of Ryan? He looks a bit silly (and it's quite dull compared to the last one). I don't really think weddings are ideal episodes to capture photos from cos characters are always dressed atypically smart. AnemoneProjectors 20:54, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Righty ho. Will replace it ASAP. Janine's image is good though? --GSorbyDesroid 21:11, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah Janine's is fine. Ryan's not really changed since the last photo we had of him though has he? AnemoneProjectors 21:39, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:TamekaEmpson.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TamekaEmpson.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. AnemoneProjectors 10:35, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:TamekaEmpson.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:TamekaEmpson.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. AnemoneProjectors 10:35, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Images 2

[edit]

Hi, if you are updating character images for returning characters etc, can you not upload over the original images, but instead create a new file, so that we can portray what the looked like originally in the text somehow, such as in Bianca Jackson.GunGagdinMoan 20:34, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uhh Come again? Haha! Sorry you must've got the wrong person! I've never uploaded an image of Bianca...And I know that anyway :P --GSorbyDesroid 20:37, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I didnt suggest you had uplaoded an image of Bianca, I meant copy the format of an article like Bianca, which portrays the character currently and as she looked in 1993. You have just uploaded an image for Kat. You have uploaded it over the image that portrayed her in the early 2000s. You have done so over numerous images, and it means we cant portray the characters how they were originally.20:41, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
Well okay, shall I revert the Kat Moon picture and place that like Bianca's, so 2005, and upload the new version in a different filename? --GSorbyDesroid 20:47, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes please. By the way I think this could have been requested beforehand. So I guess for Alfie, Alan and Blossom, the same will apply - upload new instead of replacing old. AnemoneProjectors 20:53, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What AP said. Also it can/should be done for some characters who change dramatically on-screen even if they havent left. For instance, Abi Branning has changed quite a lot/grownup since she first appeared, but her images have been updated as she's changed and now we havent got one preserved for her first appearance (not saying you're responsible for this). As you know, AP has rights to restore old images if we need them, but it would be less hassle for him if we do it ourselves when we are updating.GunGagdinMoan 21:05, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. I shall do this in future. --GSorbyDesroid 21:16, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's no hassle :) well, not much lol. thing is if we update images regularly, then before we know it it's 10 years later and we want the original image back again. it's really hard to plan. AnemoneProjectors 21:47, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What was the point of your revert on File:Jackson, Billy (2).JPG? AnemoneProjectors 18:24, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, that was a mistake for another image :( --GSorbyDesroid 22:25, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nita Mistry

[edit]

Hi, I don't really see why you decided to upload a new image when you know from the discussion that it'll be deleted anyway. Also, she's never been refered to as Nita Jackson. Did Robbie even say they were married? AnemoneProjectors 18:03, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I thought she married Robbie :/ --GSorbyDesroid - (Contribs!) 18:55, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
People keep changing it to Jackson but the article only says she was pregnant. The infobox says they were married in 2004. But she was only Nita Mistry in the show. But I was more asking about the image lol AnemoneProjectors 19:39, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I know, but I didn't listen (again!) but I now realize not to add images to the lists prior to 2009, correct? :-) --GSorbyDesroid - (Contribs!) 19:41, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest I wouldn't upload any for characters in the lists, so not Julie Perkins. I would just wait until articles are spun-off. AnemoneProjectors 19:59, 15 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
