Hi, do you have any sources for the claims about Benavidez playing football and attending college in Iowa (and subsequently that he moved back to Las Cruces afterwards; also isn't he born in Texas so Las Cruces can't be his hometown?) added in this edit? Thanks, --aktsu (t / c) 15:01, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:V we should prefferably have sources for all claims on Wikipedia, so if you can dig something up that would be absolutely awesome. It's not that I doubt he did, but as one of the articles I started I'd like to keep it as high-standard/well-referenced as possible. I added a [citation needed]-tag on it for now though. The Iowa-college source looks good, so I added it :) I couldn't see anything out-of-the-ordinary on my userpage BTW (if it was the "hoax"-box, that's intentional), but someone might have messed with the box itself as it's automatically inserted from some other page. Cheers, --aktsu (t / c) 16:35, 24 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you click the link in the box you can see that's what a vandal added to my userpage after I got a hoax-article he created deleted. I like to think I know quite a bit about MMA, so I found it kinda funny :) Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for Joe mentioning it somewhere as well then. It's not much of an issue having something so non-controversial unsourced so it's no problem, but having a source to prove it's accurate would be nice. (Also, just a sidenote: I'm pretty sure that even if you did interview him and put it up somewhere, it would still be consider unreliable and it wouldn't fly in an WP:GA or WP:FA level article. WP:RS describes what's needed to be considered reliable. For this specific situation a source us far better than no source though).
I remember that image, wasn't it from his or Urijah's myspace or something? I was the one who nominated it for deletion as all images on WP needs to be explicitly released under a free license, e.g. Creative Commons or the GFDL). That means the copyright holder has to state he's releasing the image under that license either on the website or through an email to WP; it's not enough to put the image up for all to see. If it's your image because you've taken it or aquired the copyright for it (i.e. someone took it for you) though, you're free to to whatever you want with it (i.e. upload here) because you're the copyright holder. If you know someone who has an image and would be willing to release it, the easiest would just be for them to upload it here, at Commons or at Flickr (while selecting any creative commons license except the non-commertial one), or to add "Released under CC-BY-SA" with a link to this page along with the image. I've been trying to find an usable image for some time, so if you think you can pull some strings that would be awesome :) --aktsu (t / c) 06:39, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
