You seem to have some input you want to contribute to the Olympic medals pages! Why don't you go here and debate on what the conventions should be. Thanks. --Jared [T]/[+] 14:49, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure if that should be listed there. Now that I see it, it seems more of a talk page issue. But the conventions page I started deals with the much bigger issue of how we should display the results....by medal type, by total, or other. If you feel that you want to chime into our discussion, for any aspect...or feel thHat you have a topic to add, feel free to join in. --Jared [T]/[+] 15:08, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Official languages[edit]

As you may see from my note on the NZSL page, English (of any form) has never been given official language status because of its uncontentious nature. The official language status for NZSL and Maori is really about acknowledging minority, and I'd assume that in countries where bilingualism is common (such as Canada or Switzerland), it's important to codify a framework. Sadly, the amount of reo spoken in New Zealand means that there is little chance of English being accorded official language status anytime soon! --Limegreen 02:56, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Blur4760, it's nice that you correct spelling, but in the case of "FIFA Fussball WM" it is spelled with ss, because the FIFA organisation is Switzerland-based. Reference (german). I've already corrected it. Bye! --Tantalos 19:17, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Diacritics in Rosa-Luxemburg-Strasse article[edit]

I put back the diacritics in the article without looking at the history, I am sorry about that, but now that I have done it, I think it looks better than before, and I hope you don't mind. Blur4760 11:37, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe I was overreacting to remove them all. I guess I don't really mind that some words have diacritics and some words use only the 26 letters, even on the same page. But I certainly do not like it when a single word or phrase has only half the diacritics it should, I know how ridiculus that looks in Icelandic words. In any case, þanks for taking an interest and I was also very grateful for your comment at Talk:Voss-strasse, it meant that somebody can understand what I write. Voss-strasse[edit]

Thanks for the research, Blur. :) And yes, if it's convenient, could you please dig up the Lonely Planet guide? If nothing else, we can then list the guide as a solid reference on the page, plus it'll give us another point of reference on how the name of the street is spelled in an English-language work. --Elonka 19:56, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, since I had a book-signing today that was near the travel section in a bookstore, I took the opportunity to check through some of the Lonely Planet guides, and did indeed find an English-language reference in Lonely Planet:Berlin (where the street was spelled as "Vossstrasse"). Thanks for pointing me in that direction, --Elonka 05:34, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! I've noticed that you've edited articles pertaining to the Eastern Orthodox Church. I wanted to extend an invitation to you to join the WikiProject dedicated to organizing and improving articles on the subject, which can be found at: WikiProject Eastern Orthodoxy. This WikiProject was begun because a need was perceived to raise the level of quality of articles on Wikipedia which deal with the Eastern Orthodox Church.

You can find information on the project page about the WikiProject, as well as how to join and how to indicate that you are a member of the project. Additionally, you may be interested in helping out with our collaboration of the month. I hope you'll consider joining and thank you for your contributions thus far! —A.S. Berlin government[edit]

Thanks for that. If I follow you correctly, the Oberburgermister was, as it were, the Prime Minister of the city - the head of the administration - while the Stadtpresident was, as it were, the Speaker or head of the City Council. Is that correct? This raises the question - did the Berlin Senate or a city council under another name, exist under the Nazis? What was it called? How were its members chosen? Adam 12:04, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. The Germans do have a talent for opaque administrative terminology, do they not? Adam 12:53, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Veronica Mars[edit]

Trivia is inherently non-encyclopaedic (see WP:AVTRIV) - I keep removing trivia that doesn't have enough connection and relevance to episodes as I see it but people are adding it en-mass, and this is a reason people are using to try and get episode articles deleted. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 14:10, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You and I know all this as Veronica Mars fans but your average Joe doesn't, that's why we must provide citations for relevancy (and to make things factual, etc) - this stops the relentless people who will pull at anything to try and get episode articles deleted. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 14:16, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tristan DuGrey[edit]

Thanks for the better phrasing...I've been a GG fan since season one, and usually I can write factoids like that well, but I didn't know how to work it. Thanks! Nate 06:09, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mozart German?[edit]

After reading all the good points brought up in that discussion, I can see that the logic is circular and the debating could go on forever. It would seem most reasonable to me to consider Mozart both German AND Austrian, as both sides present equally solid arguments. It might be a good idea to include Mozart in the Germany article with an explanatory footnote. Sicilianmandolin 23:20, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Filbinger[edit]

Dear Blur, even though we do not yet agree, I want to tell you that I do consider you a serious contributer to WP and to the Filbinger discussion as well. (I cannot say the same for Dysmo and especially not for Dysmo). I have asked a linguist friend of mine to comment - maybe she can help. Cheers, Str1977 (smile back) 17:30, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I already had to explain myself so many times that I didn't stop to check that you were one of the ones that already got it. --Arctic Gnome (talkcontribs) 22:44, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since you've been involved in the recent discussions at Talk:Commonwealth Realm, your vote would be appreciated on this proposal. Thanks. -- Hux 10:41, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Blur4760,
Mit den neuen Informationen aus dem Encyclopedia Britannica, könnte ich Sie überzeugen Ihre Stimme bei dieser Wahl zu ändern?
Mit freundlichen Grüssen,

OK, no conspiratorial German, but I have added citations from the Commonwealth Law Bulletin (published by the Commonwealth Secretariat) and the Cambridge Law Journal (published by Cambridge University Press). Would they convince you to change your vote? Thank you for your consideration. Jonathan David Makepeace 21:14, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Monarchy articles[edit]

Blur4760- I see you've been involved in the editing of Canadian monarchy and on its talk page. There's presently a poll going on regarding the format of the titles for all Commonwealth realm monarchy articles. If you'd like to register an opinion, please do so here. Cheers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by G2bambino (talkcontribs) 16:01, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am repeating here a message I just placed on your German page. Some months ago, on the German Friedrich Kellner Wikiquote page you had pointed out some possible errors in my reading of the original Suetterlin script of my grandfather's diary. You were certainly right, and I am grateful to you for catching these errors. I have gone over each of your questions about this, and I have made the corresponding corrections to the Wikiquotes. I am sorry it has taken me so long to make the corrections. I am more often on the English Kellner page than on the German one. Thank you for your help. I do appreciate it.
