Belle & Sebastian

Thanks for the advice! I'll see what I can do about creating the section you suggested. As far as the red links go, would you also say that the publishing companies should be de-linked along with the authors? Cheers, faithless (speak) 04:12, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, that's what I meant; six of the publishers listed have articles, five don't. I'll go ahead and remove those too, then. faithless (speak) 04:23, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

MBV 4th album

Well there's Mariah Carey's eleventh studio album. - Damn it, lets go for it. Ceoil 23:54, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Quite. I have a mix tape of all the pre isn't anything stuff, which I rarely listen to. I'm so excited by the prospect of Loveless II, that I'm all mixed up. Ceoil 00:03, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey. Do you think Loveless needs a post script section. Ceoil 12:03, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Nine Inch Nails at FLC (again)

Thanks so much for your comments on the previous FLC for the Nine Inch Nails discography. Unfortunately the FLC failed since I just didn't have enough time to address the issues raised, but I have since had a bit more free time, and have addressed the problems and have resubmitted the article for Featured List status. I would very much appreciate if you could give the article another look and let me know what you think on its new FLC page. Thanks! Drewcifer 05:21, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 17:15, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Jimmy Chamberlin GA

Yeah, I think it's pretty comprehensive and well-referenced. It's a bit uneven in spots, but I definitely think it deserves a promotion. And no thanking, you've done a great job moderating SP articles. -Werideatdusk33 04:21, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Your opinion, please

Is it just me, or was the review and subsequent fail of Joy Division when it was on hold for about a day or two odd? Please tell me what you think. In any case I'm just going to Peer Review right now and then FAC once I expand some sections and do some little fixes. WesleyDodds 04:57, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Also, while Loveless is in the GAC queue currently, what do you think we need before taking it to FAC?
Also, this week's COTW is Siamese Dream. I've tracked down some reviews and will soon begin working on the recording history. WesleyDodds 05:46, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
Not really, unless there's some pressing reason to include them (as in Adore). I've removed mention of outtakes in Nevermind since they don't seem all that notable in regards to the album. WesleyDodds (talk) 02:25, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
I've gone through most of the sources available right now on Siamese Dream. Next I'm going through the DeRogatis book and the Siamese Dream tab book, where Billy Corgan gives all that detailed information about the songs (by the way, I think we could make a "Cherub Rock" FA article, if you want to). When you have the time to work on it during Thanksgiving I think you might also want to try and find more contemporary reviews. After the DeRogatis Chicago Tribune one I'm not sure what else I can find; the Rolling Stone one doesn't have an author or original publication date listed, and the Allmusic one looks like it was written well after the album was released. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:02, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
A bit of a snag: The Siamese Dream tab book no longer can be previewed on Amazon.com, and Google Book Search doesn't provide one. Unfortunately the book is out of print and I lost my copy a few years back. You could buy a copy from Amazon's used section, but the starting price there is 37 dollars. I also don't see it on eBay. WesleyDodds (talk) 23:04, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
I heard about it awhile ago, but I too have been wondering where it would go in the article. WesleyDodds (talk) 07:35, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

NIN WikiProject

I'd like to invite you to join the newly-formed Nine Inch Nails WikiProject. There's alot of NIN-related articles on Wikipedia that could use a little attention, and I hope this project can help organize an effort to improve them. So please, take a look and if you like what you see, help me get this project of the ground and a few Nine Inch Nails pages into the front ranks of Wikipedia articles. Thanks! Drewcifer 10:50, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Spiderland

Just thought I'd say well done. Article looks amazing. Daisy-berkowitz (talk) 14:00, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you! --Brandt Luke Zorn (talk) 17:23, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Ah, I see that I wasn't the only person to notice the stellar improvements :) Great work! C. M. Reed (talk) 09:03, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Future projects

My goal is to have Joy Division, Loveless (album), and R.E.M. (band) reach FA status by the end of the year. Once those are done, I hope to get more focused than I have been in recent months. While I always help with the COTW, compared to the people I regularly work with (editors like you, CloudNine, and Ceoil), I haven't been yielding too many GAs/FAs. I definitely plan to work on Britpop next, but is there anything else you might want to work on together? I'm thinking another album article, because those seem to be the easiest to reference and write. There's still In Utero, after all, but there's also Ten, and others that would be worth working on, and quite a few I'm interested in but not sure if you are. Let me know if anything strikes you. WesleyDodds (talk) 09:16, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Working on stuff like Siamese Dream highlights problems I try to avoid; while I'm totally interested in working on the album, we've both found our resources restricted. I want to make sure we have enough information about recording information, sales figures, and the music itself, in addition to plentiful reviews. I've mulled over what I have available and here's some ones I feel sufficient resources are available for and that I am interested enough to work on for a few months (Note: I've left out Beatles and Zeppelin albums, as well as Nevermind, because the sheer amount of material available means I'd spend months reading first before real work would get done. I still want to finish Nevermind, but there's too much to process first, if you know what I mean):
Let me know what you think. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:30, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
In the case of Definitely Maybe, I own the tenth anniversary DVD, which is very helpful. WesleyDodds (talk) 00:50, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Either one would be fine by me, really. Just with the DVD there's a lot more to work with on Definitely Maybe. WesleyDodds (talk) 11:59, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Do you think Loveless is ready for FAC? WesleyDodds 10:43, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

The point of the quotes in the newsletter is to include something completely ridiculous in the spirit of fun (and hopefully to get people to pay attention). Thus I try to top myself every month. I was working on the newsletter a day before it was sent out and I was at a loss as to what it should be this month. Then I went into my Spin: 20 Years of Alternative Music book and found this e-mail interview with Thom Yorke, which was a godsend. By the way, congratulations on making the backlog template at GAC with Slay Tracks. Maybe that'll result in some unsuspecting editor discovering Pavement. WesleyDodds 02:53, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
I was leaning towards "Soon" myself. I would suggest "Touched" since it's discussed a bit in the article, but a fair use sample would be, what, six seconds? WesleyDodds 03:43, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Loveless just passed GAC and Slay Tracks is being reviewed. I'm still trying to see if there's more that can be added to the article. Given when you can add another soundclip, I think we can take it to FAC within a week. WesleyDodds (talk) 06:52, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

This would be good for the legacy section. Can you work it in? WesleyDodds (talk) 11:11, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

I did some final edits to Loveless; at this point the only thing I'm not too keen on is the caption for "Soon", but we can work on that later. Do you think we should take it to FAC now (and how would a thre-way nom work)? WesleyDodds (talk) 02:17, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
Any quotes you were thinking in particular? WesleyDodds (talk) 05:10, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
I'll work in the quote; I was hoping to add something on the dance influence anyways (the McGonial book devotes a chapter to it, but there's little substantial information in it). I've been reviewing Spiderland since last night; I'll comment shortly. WesleyDodds (talk) 07:35, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
You said the extended version of the quote is from Turn On Your Mind, right? What's the page number? WesleyDodds (talk) 13:14, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Congrats! Loveless has just been promoted to FA. WesleyDodds (talk) 22:55, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm going to try and finish up with R.E.M. and get it up at FAC tonight. Want to start work on another project now? WesleyDodds (talk) 07:24, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Just let me know what you want to work on and I'll gather up material. WesleyDodds (talk) 13:58, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Siamese Dream

I'd be glad to help in the near future. It's currently something I can't put down. What major sources do you have acess to or that you plan to use? NSR77 TC 01:37, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

At the end of Tales of a Scorched Earth there is a section with all of the magazines that did significant spreads on the Pumpkins. I'll check it out and see which ones relate most to Siamese Dream. NSR77 TC 11:45, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
Nah, it is fine to put back in. I'm actually just on the run and checking Wikipedia quickly but I'll pass the article when I'm not so busy. NSR77 TC 11:42, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

I think we should both pitch in on this article, if a lot of the suicide dispute hub-bub is going to be moved there. The msot important thing the article needs is to actually describe Cobain's death, the discovery of his body, and the reactions to it before going into the whole debate. WesleyDodds 10:21, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

That's all right. I was only going to work on it piecemeal until I had more time myself. WesleyDodds (talk) 06:50, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Query

Do you have digital cable? Right now I'm watching an episode of Later with Jools Holland on OnDemand from 1998 featuring The Smashing Pumpkins. They played "Ava Adore", "Once Upon a Time", and "Daphne Descends". WesleyDodds (talk) 10:47, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

It definitely helps to go back and work on older articles once we learn more about editing, which is what I'e done with Alternative rock and Batman. By the way, if you want, next month we can work on both Definitely Maybe and (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, since both would involve most of the same sources I have. WesleyDodds (talk) 23:40, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Zero single in Pumpkins discography

Hey my man. Is there a reason Zero is omitted from the "singles" section in the discography?—Well, other than oversight. I was going to just go ahead and add it, but I don't really have time right now, so I figured I'd run it by you first to make sure. Seems like a rather large oversight if that's the case. I'm having a discussion on the list's talk page about the band's "odd" singles. I say we should just go ahead and list everything—at least for the sake of comprehensiveness. Any input would be great. Grim (talk) 14:04, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Deftones

You seem to be really on your game when it comes to music articles, discographies and the like. With that in mind, would you have a look at the Deftones discography I've been working feverishly on for the past few days for me? I'd eventually like to shoot for FL, so advice from a sage hand would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Seegoon (talk) 07:04, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Pavement stuff

Hey, I wanted to leave you a note here and let you know that I really do appreciate all the work you're doing on the Pavement discography. I don't want to come off sounding like I'm knocking any of your work just because of the discussion about formatting - your work is really excellent and I'm looking forward to seeing what you have planned. I just wasn't sure if you originally were just going to leave the track list unformatted without the references back to the original EPs and sources. Anyway, go ahead and do whatever you need to do to the track list and I won't revert anything anymore. Torc2 (talk) 00:54, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! And by no means did it come off as though you knocking me. I'm glad we could settle this agreeably. --Brandt Luke Zorn (talk) 00:59, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your criticism on the page. Do you have anything else to add? Do you really believe it's not FA quality? Do you think it has potential? Sorry for all the questions. See you tomorrow! Again, thanks! — Cuyler91093 - Contributions - 11:02, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

I fixed everything you put on the nom page, would you mind taking another look? By the way may I reccomend archiving this page, if you need help I will help you or do it for you.
Thank you,

All  Done. Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 23:55, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Everything is done. Thank very much for reviewing by the way. The coment you made of the number inconsistancy I did not fix though, on my previous featured article for Godsmack we reached the concensus that numbers up to ten should be written and anything over can be in # form. RIAA certifications such as 2x platinum are an exception for the rule however. I would really appreciate if you would put music samples in the article. If you do please do this:
  • "Man in the Box" in the "Facelift and Sap" section
  • "Would?" in the "Dirt and Jar of Flies" section
  • "Again" in the "Alice in Chains and decline" section
  • "Nutshell" in the "Alice in Chains and decline" section in the Unplugged paragraph
Also if you wouldn't mind (you don't have to) maby put samples in two other articles for me? Keep in mind you don't have to. And I myself cannot get a picture of Staley, but I am trying to see if someone else will. If you want I can give you the URL for the image, and you could get it (again you don't have to). And again thank you very much for this. Do you listen to Alice in Chains? Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 03:41, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Is there a limit to songs in an article? In Godsmack I would like "Whatever" in the "Godsmack" section.
In Chevelle (an article I am current ly working on, maby a review? Wikipedia:Peer review/Chevelle) I'd like "Point No. 1 (song)|Point #1]]" in the "Point #1" section
And again thank you very much. Do You isten to Godsmack and Chevelle? AiC is one of my all time favorites. Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 04:17, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I can't stress how much of a help you are. On your userpage I saw the articles you contribute to, which ones are you the main author for? My first and currently only FA is Godsmack, I must have gotten off pretty easy on that one, AiC is much more of a challenge than Godsmack, but I have to keep in mind they have twice the history. Would Chevelle be too short for FA status? They have a short history, but if possible I would like to skip GA and go to FA. If AiC becomes featured I will be the only person on English Wikipedia with two metal band FAs. Sorry for ranting :) Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 04:52, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
You rule. Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 06:10, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes they are, thank you very much. Are you reviewing Chevelle tomorrow of tonight still? Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 06:49, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

This isn't causing you to spend money is it? Will that be tommorow, I'm just curious, no rush. Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 06:53, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
All taken care of, mind taking another look? Isn't Limewire illegal? On Godsmack you can get rid of the songs "Running Blind" and "Good Times Bad Times". Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 19:58, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Done Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 23:05, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
WOO! All  Done. Do you Support now? Thank you for all of the help, with all three articles. I'm hoping to get a couple more reviews for Chevelle, I want to skip GA and go right to FA. Do you want this page archived? Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 21:11, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Done Burningclean [Speak the truth!] 03:03, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

New project

I say let's work on both Definitely Maybe and In Utero. That way we won't get too bored (sometimes I get worn out on an article if I work too intensely). Let me know what areas you want to concentrate on; for one, you seem to have a better hang out citing chart positions than I do. I think I can devote myself primarily to the recording process of both records. WesleyDodds (talk) 09:42, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Here's a Rolling Stone article I found about the In Utero release controversy: [1]. WesleyDodds (talk) 01:02, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm busy watching an R.E.M. DVD right now, and I'll be up for a few more hours. What do you want me to work on on In Utero or Definitely Maybe right now? WesleyDodds (talk) 08:46, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
It's up to you. The RHCP FA articles have them, for one. But definitely get rid of the redundant Singles section, with the release dates and all that. WesleyDodds (talk) 09:52, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Because it's awesome: [2]. WesleyDodds (talk) 03:00, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

When I saw them play at The Fillmore in July that's exactly how it was performed, right down to the keyboard noodling at the beginning. The songs that worked best at that show were the guitar-heavy 90s singles. "Today" and "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" were great. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:40, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Billy didn't sing weird like he does in that video, though. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:42, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to the Flaming Lips

One of us...one of us... Hey, just checking, but have you heard Mercury Rev's first few albums? If you like Pavement and the Lips, they're definitely someone you should hear. Welcome! Hopefully we can slap some of these articles into better shape. Torc2 (talk) 13:18, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Ian Svenonius

Hey, so thanks for your help with the Svenonius situation. I realize it's a tricky situation, but I don't want to be a party of an invasion of privacy, perceived or not, which is why I immediately took down the information. If the subject of the article is uncomfortable, than I am uncomfortable. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from with this. Bringing up the situation at WP:COIN would just complicate matters, and it would probably result in a unsatisfactory result as far as Mr. Svenonius is concerned, which is why I'd liked to avoid it if possible. Drewcifer (talk) 07:28, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

If so here is a list of songs, I will add captions:
  • "The Night and the Silent Water" in Orchid, Morningrise, and My Arms, Your Hearse (1994–1998)
  • "Bleak" in Still Life and Blackwater Park (1999–2001)
  • "Deliverance" in Deliverance and Damnation (2002–2004), in the para of the release of Deliverance.
  • "Windowpane" in Deliverance and Damnation (2002–2004), in the para of the release of Damnation

Records

If you like Different Class, you will mostly likely also dig His 'n Hers, the album before it. Both records are very much in the same vein. Despite the importance of Zen Arcade, I feel New Day Rising is a much better album, and is possibly one of the top ten greatest alt-rock albums ever. But that's me . . . I'd like to think Ceoil and I did a public service with the Be Here Now article. I think I counted nine references to cocaine in that article. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:23, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I've done a bit of work on Definitely Maybe already. I guess it's up to you which on to tackle. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:50, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
We should revamp the prelease controversy section first. The critical reception section should be easy, since reviews from most major publications (Rolling Stone, New York Times, Entertainment Weekly) are available online. WesleyDodds (talk) 06:24, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm up for taking apart and rewriting the Prerelease section in In Utero right now if you are able to work on it as well. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:34, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm off to bed now. I'll see what else I can do this week. NSR77 said he'd be interested in working on the critical reception. WesleyDodds (talk) 07:50, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Again - Alice in Chains.ogg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Again - Alice in Chains.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 01:21, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Miscellanea

I was wondering for a while why the review for Mellon Collie wasn't on the Rolling Stone website. Then last night I realized Jim DeRogatis' review for the album in his book was from his tenure at Rolling Stone, and given what he said about that period in the "Hootiegate" chapter its absence makes sense now. That article's almost GA ready and I've been doing more work on In Utero lately. Let me know when you're less busy (it seems that a number of project members are likewise occupied elsewhere this month). WesleyDodds (talk) 12:05, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

Music Sample Help?

Hi, my name is Dark Executioner, and I was referred to you by Burningclean for help with music samples. I have no clue on how to put them onto Wikipedia at all. You see, I have been working hard to help get Six Feet Under (a seminal death-metal band) up to GA. I have put tons of references, cleaned the article up, and even broke their history down into descriptive subsections.

Two songs I would love to have represent the band here on Wikipedia are "Doomsday" and "Victim of the Paranoid." If you are able to put them onto the page for me, I will be very grateful. Thanks, Dark Executioner (talk) 23:20, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Chevelle - The Red.ogg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Chevelle - The Red.ogg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Hello?

Will you ever ever come back and edit on a regular basis again? WesleyDodds (talk) 09:02, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

By the way, you technically helped Ten get to GA status with all the early work you put into it. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:42, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Can you take care of all those "cite needed" tag in the Recording section for In Utero? I left them alone for the longest time because I figured you might be able to reference it with the Gaar book. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:39, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

I have this Radiohead bio on hand until the 10th; I checked it out to help with OK Computer. If there's a Radiohead article you want to work on, let me know. 03:07, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Sounds like a plan. Letting you know right now that Exit Music has about eighty pages dedicated to OK Computer, and since I'm not too into Radiohead in the first place, it's going to be a bit of a slog for me. I hope to read through all of that part of the book in the next few days. 03:27, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
By the way, apparently there's articles for most of the songs on the album; they just aren't linked on that page. Looks like some redirecting is in order. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:29, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
You might want to double-check some of the magazine articles cited in OK Computer. There might be some stuff left out, or cited material might be misphrased. Also, check out the Time and New York Times websites for material. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:36, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Browsing through the references I noticed that Guitar World is beginning to post old articles on its website now. You should use that 1998 article as the basis for the Music section. WesleyDodds (talk) 07:29, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

"Paranoid Android" looks like it's about ready for a GA nom. WesleyDodds (talk) 09:42, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

I think I'm going to just renew it for another two weeks. You think you could get Ok Computer to FA status by the end of the month? WesleyDodds (talk) 09:55, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
I can help a little with the Music section on OK Computer, but I'm going to need you to take the lead with that. I'm only familiar with the singles. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:00, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
I renewed the book, and I'll probably do work on "Karma Police" first. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:26, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
According to the writer of the book, there's some 1997 Mojo article that he considers the best source on OK Computer. WesleyDodds (talk) 22:57, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Ceoil used to, but he didn't renew it. You might want to check the fansites; they might have a reprint. WesleyDodds (talk) 23:07, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
I've been meaning to renew this. I'll have a look of the weekend and see what they have. Ceoil sláinte 20:45, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
If you can fix up the Music section in OK Computer by Friday that would be great, because we need to get the article cleaned up for the Wikipedia 0.7 release by the 20th. WesleyDodds (talk) 22:06, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Ceoil usually does his editing on the weekend, and the others have sporadic internet access. Wait a day or two. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:11, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
I'd say when you address those comments on the talk page, you can nominate "Paranoid Android" at FAC. WesleyDodds (talk) 11:06, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Congrats on the FA promotion! WesleyDodds (talk) 05:36, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Do you want to get around to finishing Definitely Maybe? WesleyDodds (talk) 05:21, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
The Legacy section is where I would need the most help. I need to rewatch the Definitely Maybe DVD again. Also, I remember in their Behind the Music episode that Noel said he was trying to make the best rock album since Nevermind. WesleyDodds (talk) 03:03, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
I think we should do some tune-up on Kid A (ie. moving all those citations in the lead to the article body). WesleyDodds (talk) 06:22, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

How close do you think you are to finishing OK Computer? WesleyDodds (talk) 12:03, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

I'll leave it to you to pull what you need from this:
OK Computer was initially planned as an upbeat reaction to The Bends and defiant demolition of Radiohead's gloomy image. But as recording progressed, its trip-hop symphonies and sci-fi lullabies brimmed over with nausea, disgust and travel sickness: "The crackle of pig skin, the yuppies networking/The vomit, the vomit." Pigs, crashing vehicles and millennial despair became recurring motifs. "To me the album's more about speed and transport rather than the future and technology," says Jonny Greenwood. "The songs are very transparent, it's very clear what they're about."
Yorke tried to make his voice sound different on every track. "He was getting very sick of the fact that he could sing about garden furniture and it would still sound very passionate," says Greenwood. Dark references to "the IMF and cattle prods" also reflected the singer's growing interest in "voodoo economics" and digestion of political tracts like Will Hutton's The State We're In and Eric Hobsbawm's The Age Of Extremes.
The track 'Fitter, Happier' was voiced by computer speech software and ended with the brutal comment on modern consumerism: "a pig in a cage on antibiotics" - a line adapted from Jonathan Coe's darkly comic novel about arms dealing and the death of the welfare state, What A Carve Up! This extraordinary slice of digital nihilism was even considered as the lead-off single for OK Computer.
Instead, the towering six-and-a-half minute epic 'Paranoid Android' was chosen with an animated video by Magnus Carlsson featuring murder, mutilation and topless mermaids. MTV censored the mermaids. Eleven minutes long in its original form, this neo-prog mammoth was hailed as a 'Bohemian Rhapsody' for the '90s. Jonny began to despise it. "I just couldn't stand it after the second time," he recalls. "If I was working in a shop or a factory, I'd go out for a cigarette break."
Colin Greenwood says "the idea behind 'Paranoid Android' was trying to do a combination of DJ Shadow and The Beatles. We've always aimed ourselves at this trajectory towards other people's music that we've fallen in love with. It's like lover's flattery, we try to emulate these people and we always fall short. When we did 'Creep' we were heavily into Scott Walker. We aim for the stars, and we hit just north of Oxford, ha!" (Dalton, Steven. "Radiohead and Whose Army". Uncut. 2001) WesleyDodds (talk) 09:27, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm working on finishing up In Utero right now. Is there anything useful to add from the Cross book? WesleyDodds (talk) 02:42, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Yay :)

First of all, great to see you back.

And second of all, nice work. The odds of two people randomly starting to work on that article are pretyt low, but yeah. Go us. Giggy (talk) 07:54, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Paranoid Android

For some reason some changes aren't still appearing, until you purge the page. I have the time added to my preferences, in order to click the clock and purge that page. Otherwise, I'll take a look at the GAN again. Peanut4 (talk) 21:05, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

I may be paranoid, but I'm no android

Just quickly, did you note the comment here about adding more context on Robin, etc.? Third bullet point of the last set of Risker's comments.

The rest looks great - fingers crossed for FAC. Giggy (talk) 04:29, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

OK Computer audio samples

Any more thoughts on this? I'm still a bit concerned about the placement of the samples within the article, and the weakness of the fair use rationales. The fair use rationales talk about illustrating the "widely successful" Karma Police and "final single" No Surprises, which would suggest that the samples should go in the "Reception" and "Release" sections respectively instead. If we're wanting to illustrate the new, unusual musical styles on the album, then it might be good to put in something like Paranoid Android or Fitter Happier. Alternatively, we could just rewrite the fair use rationales to explain which specific points about the "Musical style and theme" section the samples are illustrating. Hey. Just wanted to say thanks for all the work you've done on the "Loser" article. Even if I've disagreed with a couple of your edits, overall I think you have improved the piece immensely. Candy (talk) 18:18, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

The "Loser" article is almost done, I think. I need to add some citations myself to the Composition section from a book analyzing classic songs, but there doesn't seem to be too much work need before a GA nom and possibly even FAC. WesleyDodds (talk) 17:00, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Paranoid Android video.png

Thank you for uploading File:Paranoid Android video.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 11:42, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

DSotM Legacy

Hi there. I've made a small start on a legacy section here, I've only got the one album in so far but I'll continue looking around. Parrot of Doom (talk) 17:35, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

I've been searching a lot this morning on the internet for reliable sources of musicians talking about the influence DSotM had on them. So far I haven't come up with much; Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree, and a list of groups Pink Floyd supposedly influenced, from about.com (David Bowie, Genesis, The Nazz, Queen, Phish, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Yes). I've been searching relentlessly to see if any of those groups from that list (which aren't already mentioned in the article) ever talked about Dark Side of the Moon specifically, but to no avail. Also, I've been trying to find if any of Pink Floyd's contemporaries said anything about the album (Yes, Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, etc.), and have come up with nothing. I would double-check some of your books for this kind of info but at this point I'm thinking that, while I'm sure that some of those bands talked about DSotM at some point, the information is inaccessible. Oh, and evidently Roger Waters doesn't think much of Radiohead, or OK Computer. --Brandt Luke Zorn (talk) 20:39, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
I encountered the same problems, the comparison of OK Computer to DSotM is from a single author in the Reising book. I'm positive there are any number of music critics who would compare albums favourably to DSotM, but as for musicians - most of them I imagine would be too proud to admit it. That many copies can't have been sold however and not have been responsible for some inspiration... Parrot of Doom (talk) 08:35, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
