September 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Scray (talk) 23:40, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My specific concern is that you've added, to many dozens of articles, links to the same site. This has the appearance of spam-linking, and the fact that these are essentially your only contribution raises the question of conflict of interest. If you are affiliated with (e.g. employed by or the owner of) the site to which you are linking, you should remove all of these links and restrict yourself to suggesting such links on the talk page of the relevant articles. I realize that you are probably a new Wikipedia editor, and may not be familiar with our policies - I'm just trying to help. If you choose to reply here I'll see it. -- Scray (talk) 23:51, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've raised this issue here so that other members of the Viruses wikiproject can set me straight if I'm out of line. Feel fee to comment there. If you have a strong interest in viruses, you might also want to consider joining and contributing to that project. -- Scray (talk) 00:03, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
