Picture of the day

[edit]

Hi and thanks for your efforts in scheduling the Picture of the day. However, the image you selected, Image:Lightnings sequence 2 animation.gif is not a Featured Picture. The Pictures of the day are selected from the existing Featured pictures in a roughly FIFO order. If you are interested in nominating this image for Featured status, please do so at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates. If you would like to help out with the POTD, please be sure to read Wikipedia:Picture of the day/Guidelines. Thank you and let me know if you have any questions. howcheng {chat} 22:25, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image source problem with Image:Marian rivera.gif

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. Thanks for uploading Image:Marian rivera.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:06, 25 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Thank you. 2007-09-08 Picture of the day

[edit]

Hi and thanks for your efforts in scheduling the Picture of the day for September 8, 2007. However, there may be a problem with the image you selected: Image:Grey_square_optical_illusion.PNG.

The Pictures of the Day are currently selected from the existing Featured pictures in a roughly FIFO order. This means that featured pictures that have recently been promoted have first priority over those that essentially have been already selected as a Picture of the Day. This is partly due to the increased numbers of new images that are promoted to featured picture status.

The problem is that according to this discussion, Image:Grey_square_optical_illusion.PNG basically replaced Image:Optical.greysquares.arp.jpg as a larger, cleaner version of Adrian Pingstone's image of Adelson's checker shadow illusion. This has already appeared as the Picture of the Day previously on three seperate days: November 5, 2004, February 19, 2005, and December 16, 2005.

In other words, you have selected an image that would basically be the POTD for the fourth time. Would that be fair to those users whose featured pictures have not been selected as Picture of the Day? I would rather change it to something else to avoid complaints from them. Thanks.

Speedy deletion nomination of MyORB

[edit]

A tag has been placed on MyORB requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 04:06, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article MyORB, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 04:08, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Talk:MyORB, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Talk:MyORB and leave a note on [[Talk:Talk:MyORB|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 23:23, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:MyORB logo.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 01:08, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
