[edit]

Good luck! Somitho 10:31, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I placed a couple of additional questions (both situational ones) on the RfA. If they're in any way unclear (quite possible as I'm tired after 8 hours of uni) please let me know on my talk page and I can clarify. Orderinchaos 11:18, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kia ora Brian, and congrats again. Don't know if you get a title with your adminship? That would go nicely with your interest in monarchy. OK, back to bots. He's not at the applying for status stage just but (en) User:Polbot may be going to help with laying some groundwork in biological stubs and categories etc. I'm thinking that when (or if) he is ready I may just go ahead and grant him the status so he can get on with it, unless I hear from you beforehand that you object. [edit]

Kia ora Brian. See mi:Wikipedia talk:Karetao. PipepBot has asked for a bot flag - I have also asked JanDBot to request a bot flag, but nothing as yet, I was waiting a while before letting you know about PipepBot since I thought we could do them both at once, hence the delay since PipepBot's application. Also I am testing a bot called FalcoBot run by me to do routine stuff. Working well so far. Cheers... Kahuroa 00:19, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Are you also willing to move [Category:Commonwealth_Realms]?

Jonathan David Makepeace 21:47, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for promptly moving the Tennis shirt page to Polo shirt. But now the page is disconnected from its talk page. There is a tiny Talk:Polo shirt page from 2005, which is quite redundant, and much of the discussion from the Tennis shirt talk page is still very much in play and should be connected to the Polo shirt page.

I'm not sure of the best way to proceed. But if necessary I'm happy to try to e.g. move the 2 old entries on the Talk:Polo shirt to Talk:Tennis shirt if they can't be merged in some other way. --NealMcB 01:26, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use disputed for Image:New Zealand War Memorial.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:New Zealand War Memorial.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:29, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Meant to ask you about the NZ Places infobox... am about to add towns and cities to mi, but would like to have the infobox compatible with en., as it would allow the cutting and pasting from en to mi or vice versa. I really like the Aussie infobox actually, it looks like very elegant coding to me. (Template:Infobox Australian Place). It has some interesting features, like average max/min temps, rainfall, distances to nearby towns and cities, etc... I might copy it for mi for Aussie towns etc - maybe a version for NZ ones. I tried to get the discussion about the infobox started on the NZ wiki noticeboard, but apart from agreeing that the Māori placename shd be included, it died... as things often do there. We need a decent discussion about what we want to include in our infoboxes. So what about the one you were working on? Kahuroa 10:34, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I noticed you reverted the redirection to New Zealand Defense Force, but see Military of Australia: they do the exact same thing. Orphaned non-free media (Image:ClaytonStent.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ClaytonStent.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 13:31, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:NZCF..JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:46, 10 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jackaranga 09:46, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Queen of New Zealand combined military guard.jpg.

Thank you. BetacommandBot 20:17, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:NZCC Cdt Wo.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:NZCC Cdt Wo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sdrtirs (talk) 21:19, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Brian - welcome back! Not much has really changed here too much sicne you left, so i don't think you'll find anything to trouble ytou if you head back to editing NZ articles. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Queen Elizabeth II of New Zealand stamps 2001.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Queen Elizabeth II of New Zealand stamps 2001.jpg. BJBot (talk) 03:12, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good news for you!

I read that NZ will become a republic sometime next year. You must be pretty psyched!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robmuntzawesome (talkcontribs) 05:00, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Hyde Park Memorial.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Source and license for File:Psychophysical.png

[edit]

Hey Brian, any chance you could change the license on this image you uploaded to anything besides {{GFDL-1.2-en}}? That template doesn't follow the GFDL standardization. Using {{GFDL}} instead would be preferable. Also, you need to add a source for the file, otherwise it may get deleted. Thanks! Kaldari (talk) 22:09, 2 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wellington Meetup in January

[edit]

Hi Brian, I think January is getting close enough to start organising more about the wlg meetup on the 16th or 17th. Are you in a position to arrange a venue? - SimonLyall (talk) 02:58, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I ended up not doing summer uni at Vic. Which had been my plan. As as a result I will not be down in Wellington around those dates. Sorry! Brian | (Talk) 20:02, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A question about rules of userboxes in Wiki

[edit]

Hi dear adminstrator, I am a user in Persian Wiki and I have an on going discussion with a Persian adminstrator about the userboxes we can create or not in Wiki. The question is: Is making userboxes like: "This user supports independence of Tibet from China" or "This user supports independence of Azerbaijan from Iran" or "This user is against Hizbullah terorist group." illegal according to Wiki userbox rules or not? R these rules same in all Wikis or different from one Wiki to another? I'm waiting 4 ur answer a.s.a.p. Regards, Pournick (talk) 04:00, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A review to see if Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom meets Wikipedia:Good article criteria has started, and has been put on hold. Suggestions for improvement are at Talk:Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom/GA2, and are mainly to do with coverage and neutrality, and building the lead section. Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom is one of our most high profile and popular articles, attracting an average of over 11,000 readers every day. You have made more than 40 edits to the article, and so you might be interested in helping to make the improvements needed to get it listed as a Good Article. Brian, my friend, you could lose your second place on that wiki that you founded. Another 13 edits from an energetic resident of Blueskin Bay could put him ahead. How about a commitment to creating one new article per month? Robin Patterson (talk) 00:32, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm. I think the Coat of Arms does work better (in line with the rest of that article which has both the RNZAF and NZA coat of arms.). However, policy is policy I guess sadly. Brian | (Talk) 22:57, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

non-free media in userspace

[edit]

Hi! I have removed an image from display on a page in your userspace (here). The image is tagged as non-free, and per our NFC policy, such images can not be used outside of mainspace. If this is a draft of an article, may I ask you to re-include the image after you moved the article to mainspace? Thanks! --Dirk Beetstra T C 10:50, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
