I have made some edits to the article circular number that you started, and have put some comments on its talk page. It would be helpful if you can explain where the term circular number comes from - is it your own invention, or do you have a reference for this usage, which we can add to the article ? DYK wording for Yucca Mountain Johnny

I noticed you just changed the wording for Yucca Mountain Johnny's fact in DYK. Is there a reason you removed the bit about it being controversial? That's kind of the reason I thought it was interesting in the first place.

Also, you used the past tense "was", but I think "is" would be more appropriate, as the cartoon still exists. --JerryOrr 15:44, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, I personally think the comparison to Joe Camel is compelling enough to be in the DYK blurb, but you're the Admin, so it's your prerogative. I do think you ought to change the tense, though, as I mentioned earlier. --JerryOrr 15:55, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

I didn't appreciate your comment in your edit to Wikipedia:Today's featured article/June 5, 2006: "did you even try looking at the image? it's full size is only 173px wide. the diagram is completely useless and uninformative. also, Raul654 said the image won't be changed again today, so leave it". If you'd been following along in the discussion, you'd know exactly why I selected that image. Brian0918 - I see that you are a very active contributor to DYK (and admin). Perhaps you could answer a question for me on process.

• If a nomination is made with a particular phrasing and a better phrasing is suggested, does the DYK staff use the better phrasing. Or, is the original nomination (top line) supposed to be edited to reflect the current phrasing?

Value of DYK

Brian, Thanks for taking care of the DYK. You moved Richard K. Sorenson to the DYK template today and it generated traffic, a number of helpful edits, and a question on the talk page which spurred me to research and answer the question (Who were the other two survivors?). Hi Brian. Thanks for the help. I took a long time because it was my first time and I was still checking all the code carefully and stuff. I didn't choose your entry because I thought it should wait for the next update so that the picture could be used. I also pulled the Ahmedabad Stock Exchange out of sequence mainly because I know the people involved and I wouldn't have been around to do the next update, when it would have been roughly scheduled. I don't think it's fair to promote your own entry from the second to the first position at the expense of a superior entry. Also, I find your practice of heavily revising nominations once they are featured in the template rather disturbing. Please reflect that both authors and nominators may not like your gratuitous rephrasing. Nominations have sufficient exposure on Template talk:Did you know to discuss proposed changes there, rather than implement them single-handedly on Template:Did you know. If you only fix grammatical or stylistic problems, as you claim, please find time to do so on Template talk:Did you know. Don't you think that even "grammatical or stylistic problems" may be subjective and their fixing controversial? Thanks for your note. The potentially short turn around time keeps it alive and fluid IMO and I really don't think it's necessary to rotate images within a DYK featured cycle, and certainly not without discussion beforehand. Grammar Nazism

I like language to evolve and support coining new words or, in this case, coming up with alternate definitions. But I am guilty of grammar nazism from time to time, too. I like keeping the old rules for a sense of basic structure (different from, not different than). In my opinion, a distinction exists between innovative usage and erroneous usage. Very nice article! I'd like to make a quick request and some more general comments:

• Could you give translations of the Ducth references' titles?
• Same for the Latin titles?

Protecting POTD rows

Hello, Brian0918! I noticed you protected a series of POTD rows, which appear on the Main Page. There's no need to protect so far in advance; I, along with a few other admins, regularly take care of protecting the main page images, templates and pages. We usually protect no more than 24 hours in advance, leaving editing as open as long as possible. I understand your protection of the POTD rows, similarly to how the FA templates are protected in advance, but the POTD text hasn't been "approved", per say, and it's best we leave it as open as possible.
