Smallmouth Bass Page

Hello, there is an anonymous user that keeps coming in from 71.59.75.120 and editing the Secondary References section of the Smallmouth Bass page to move his web site way up int he list of references. Presumably to drive more traffic to his site. I have bumped him down now twice, back to the bottom of the page. Is there anything you can do to keep him from continuing to do this? I attempted to contact them through the Talk page, but got no response.

Shars

Canvasser

you recently changed my change of the canvasser article. While i agree my article was not the best and should be removed but this must also happen the the redirect to the word peddler. Canvasser denotes a person raising money for charity. The word canvassing has a good article. i will therefor change the redirect to canvassing. thank you.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.231.104.74 (talkcontribs)

speedies

Nice work catching speedies on newpages, but please be a little more careful about what you call an not asserting notability. Saying someone has written a published book or won an award or the like is generally intended as an assertion of importance or notability. If you think it insufficient for WP purposes, then the procedure is to nominated for WP:PROD or WP:AFD,

In general, any good faith expression of notability that author might have though sufficient counts. SO on one hand you were right to nom. "ISTVAN KECSKES is Professor of Linguistics at the State University of New York, Albany, USA where he teaches graduate courses in pragmatics, second language acquisition and bilingualism. His latest publications on these topics include four books " is a clear assertion of notability.

Just as a guide, full professors at research universities--who will always have in fact published a number of books or a great number of peer-reviewed articles--have always been held N at AfD--I cannot remember an exception in the last 8 or 9 months at least. But for associate professors it depends on the work, and many of them that reach afd are found not notable, as are most of the assistant professors. so it would certainly make sense to list articles on the lower ranking ones who do not strike you as particular notable for AfD. But for an inadequate article on someone who has held a university chair or published a good deal or who has held an office or edited a journal or won awards, the appropriate tags are "expand" and, if relevant, "unsourced" or "wikify". And if the article on an apparently notable person doesnt say, it's well to check Google (and Google Scholar & google News when relevant) and add the refs if you find them. Remember that deletion is only for articles that cannot be improved , as a last resort. See WP:CSD and WP:Deletion Policy for a fuller discussion of these issues.

Keep up the good work. This is intended as information, not criticism. DGG (talk) 08:59, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Suggestion

Whenever you tag any page kindly put up the date fixed maintenance tag like {{unreferenced|date=August 2007}} or {{wikify|date=August 2007}}. Thanks, Sushant gupta 10:51, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

hello

the reason i blanked that page is because the title isnt capitalized properly. i created a new the city drive entry and copied the code from that old one. im in the band, i should be able to edit the wiki entry if i want, my dear. thanks for your attention to detail though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Emeraldweapon (talkcontribs)

  • Actually, that's one of the best reasons why you shouldn't be editing the page. More on your talk page. Brianga 01:27, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

What I want to see reviewed for the Sicily article

1)Change the Greek, Phoenician/Carthage, Roman period, and call it "Ancient Sicily". And in the "History of Sicily article, I want to have a seperate Greek section and Roman & Carthagian periods and mention the Punic Wars.

2)Hopefully consolidate the Arab period and simply call it "Arab Sicily" or "Muslim Sicily" instead of having 4-5 different headings for that period and a few sentences underneath.

3)Change the name "Arab Norman" period into the historically accurate Norman period...this is very misleading and makes it seem like these two factions and their leaders were allies or that they ruled together in harmony, which is far from the truth.

4)Add the Hohenstaufen and Angevin periods that for some reason are not mentioned? The Angevin period, saw the Sicilian Vesper rising and is a very important event in Sicilian history.

5) Add Demographics, Cuisine, Politics and Sports.

6)Most important...Make sure that the majority of the material in all sections have references and citations. So this is purely a factual, accurate article.(Scipio3000 20:18, 12 August 2007 (UTC))

      • We will discuss this as a group and bring in experts to determine what is correct and what should stay.

Omar Chu article

I do not know how to delete pages but I do know that there is no NHL player called Omar Chu and that the page was just a copy of the Dan Cloutier page with different names. Could you please delete it for me?

Thanks

  • It looks like someone already took care of it. Thanks for the heads-up. Brianga 00:12, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

72.204.216.147/Harvardlaw

I notice that you reverted a number of edits by user:72.204.216.147 last month. Thakns for doing that. This account is obviously user:Harvardlaw, aka "David J Silver". His incessant self-promotion got him banned some time ago, but he hasn't stopped trying to add references to himself and his friends. Should you happen to notice similar edits in the future by new accounts please continue to revert them or notify an admin. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 08:21, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

Recent vandalism at WP:VAN

Please don't give editors like this level one warnings, it's practically troll feeding. If they say 'Yo mutha fucka u guna ban me for dis?' or something similar, it's highly advisable to give them the highest possible warning. {{uw-only}} and {{uw-bv}} are useful tools. If the vandalism is blatant, uw-bv can be used as a fairly mild warning while still giving admins the power to block the vandal on their next edit. Thanks, Richard001 09:05, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

vandalism of Sicily

Hi, In your remarks in the "Brisbane Punk Rock" article that I contributed, you suggested that I vandalised the "Sicily" article. As I have ONLY ever contributed to Wikipedia's the Brisbane Punk Rock article, I have not made any other alterations to any other of Wikipedia's articles. Therefore could please check to see if there are any anomolies that linked me, Dr. warhol to the Sicily site. I am rather Wikipedia illiterate, as one can see, but I am learning, however, I do not want my call sign, Dr. warhol, to be besmerched by accusations of vandalism. Eager to hear your response. Thankyou. Dr.warhol 07:09, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

  • Edit left on your talk page detailing my confusion with the above comment. Brianga 03:48, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Jamie Johnston

You left me a message about vandalizing Jamie Johnston's page I did not have anything to do with that you might've seen my IP there because I tried removing the vandalism there please don't accuse me of anything that I didn't do—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.175.217.87 (talkcontribs)

  • Edit 1 and 2. Both are nonconstructive edits. No worries, just be more careful in the future. Brianga 18:11, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

reply about Sicily

The Brisbane Punk Rock article suggested that I had a new message suggesting that I vandalised the Sicily article. However, this message is no longer there. Please accept my appologies if there has been a mistake made on my behalf. Dr.warhol 09:05, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

Copyright problems with Image:Corona can.jpg

An image that you uploaded, Image:Corona can.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Alx 91 02:05, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
I removed the copyright violation tag from the above image. Basically, Alx 91 appears to be claiming that because the logo is copyrighted, and Grupo Modelo states their logo cannot be used for commercial purposes, your image is a violation. I don't believe that is correct, and removed the speedy tag. - auburnpilot talk 05:28, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

We are currently working on the article, please give us some time and check back from time to time. Johnjoecavanagh 10:11, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Please read articles before you revert them

It's quite clear that your revert on Ankle was blind - that is, done without looking at the actual article. You'll see that I was returning the page to its useful, unvandalized state. Thanks. FCYTravis 06:37, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

That said, I didn't help matters by not using an edit summary! Thought I typed one... D'oh! FCYTravis 06:39, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Heh heh, stuff happens, like I said, I should have edit-summaried... that was really my bad. I can't say as I wouldn't look at a 3,000-character add with no edit summary and not wonder if it wasn't vandalism! FCYTravis 07:38, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Chak de India

Brianga: You sent message to my IP address that I engaged in vandalism. When it was not true. I apologize for trying to contact you this way as I am not aware of any other way. I am new to wikipedia.

The purpose of Wikipedia is to reflect accurate information about the subject matter. I tried to be a good contributor and inputed most accurate review about bollywood movie "Chak de India". This movie has been a big box office hit. More than that it address inequality faced by girls and women in India. However, there are a lot of traditional male chauvinist in India who want to keep women down.

If the purpose of Wikipedia is to allow people who are more sophosticated in editing wikipedia, then let other person write misleading review about that movie. This will deter potential viewers from watching the movie and realizing that women are also equal to men.

If you want to allow a novice like me to accurately reflect the reviews received by this movie, then you will encourage the accurate review.

Thanks you very kindly for listening to me. I humbly apologize to this crude method of communication. Have a nice day !—Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.251.244.104‎ (talkcontribs) (moved from Brianga's user page)
