Lavinia Plonka Draft Article

[edit]

I saw your request for help in the Teahouse. Here are a few specific suggestions.

  • Study Wiki markup a bit. You'll learn that == Section Title== makes a new section, for example.
    • I edited your sandbox to show an example, creating your first section for your article.
    • Enclosing a word or phrase in double brackets [[Article name]] links to a Wikipedia article. For example, click on Mime artist. After you post your article to Wikipedia main, you'll want to edit that page to add [[Lavinia Plonka]] to the list of 'Notable Mime Artists' in that article.
    • I edited your sandbox to create a Wikilink for pantomime in the first sentence under == Background == as an example.
  • When you're at the list of 'Notable Mime Artists' in Mime Artist, right-click on one of the 'Notable Mime Artists' names to go to an existing article. Then click on the 'Edit' tab and see how someone else Wiikified their article. See something you like, perhaps an for the person?. Highlight it and right-click=>copy to a text editor like Notepad or even into your article open in another browser tab. Just change the info in the template to match your subject, Lavinia Plonka.
  • Writing about living persons requires extra care. Use in-line citations immediately after the sentence(s) derived from a source. I'm lazy and use citation templates so I get my sources listed correctly. Put == Notes == with {{reflist}} immediately below it and your footnotes will be created automagically.

Before you do all that, go to Pluma's adoption page and work through his 'homework' assignments. If you're like me when I started, you'll learn a huge amount about Wikipedia and creating/editing articles and having fun here.

If you have any specific questions, leave a note in my talk page. Just click on the 'New Section' tab at the top and type away.

Hope I helped a bit.DocTree (talk) 15:51, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DON'T GIVE UP! Keep your account and article for a rainy day or week when you have time to play in Wikiland again. Wiki isn't difficult but I admit it is time-consuming to do well. My project may take months to complete to my satisfaction. I work on it one sentence and one citation at a time whenever I have time. Take care and hope you come back soon. Hi again...I hope I am doing this correctly... I am a pretty smart gal and this place is so overwhelming I can't even begin to say how huge it is for me. I have an entry I want to make and I have decided not to do it because I can't even get to first base...I think it is grand what you all are doing...and this it feels like you have made this so much more complicated than it needs to be...unless your object is to deter people who really want to participate. Adoption

[edit]

Hi Brooklyntracker. I've removed the "request for adoption" template on your userpage, as you have not edited in over two months. Given the number of users starting on the encyclopedia each day and the number who look for adoption, there can often be a backlog when just displaying the request. You are much more likely to find an adopter if you are pro-active about it, perhaps asking an editor or two from the list of adopters if they would consider adopting you? Good luck in finding someone to help out. WormTT(talk) 09:17, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
