Yeah, it really needs sourcing, ive got my hands quite full trying to get MJ and Thriller up to FA, but i dont think it will be too hard to get the J5 to GA within a few weeks. Realist2 ('Come Speak To Me') 18:26, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

I have left some thought of the J5 talk page, i think our first priorty is trimming then source what remains. Realist2 ('Come Speak To Me') 03:42, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Barnstar time

The Special Barnstar
I gladly give this Barnstar to BrothaTimothy, for being a quiet, productive member of wikipedia who doesnt get praised or noticed enough. He also has a great taste in music which helps sway my decision to award this barnstar. Truly well-deserved. — Realist2 (Come Speak To Me) 02:50, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for Image:Marvin Gaye in 1973.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Marvin Gaye in 1973.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 15:37, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

MJ project

Please comment here. — Realist2 17:38, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanx for responding, could you please keep the project on your watchlist for the next few weeks (you should have it watchlisted anyway), I will be adding more suggestions etc and asking for help. Everyone needs to keep up to date with the discussion, and further votes. — Realist2 19:57, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

J5 Template

I made this template in my sandbox. Its a collection of all their singles (that have articles). Can you check it, see if I've missed anything etc. When its good we can add it. Should we add singles that don't have articles? My knowledge of their singles history is poor. — Realist2 04:52, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Obviously there is probably a lot more that can be added from this list. Jackson 5 discography. — Realist2 04:59, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Sure, just work on it in my sandbox, no problem. — Realist2 05:43, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Great!, if your sure it's complete I will start adding it later today (tired now). — Realist2 05:51, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Sure, will add it to my to do list, I'm going to be very busy this next week mind you, with off wiki stuff. I will get around to it I promise. If you really want to start improving it before I get involved, I would advise you to set up a sandbox and start collecting together reliable web sources on him. Find the same kinds of sources that are used on the MJ article, Allmusic, Rolling Stone, BBC, CNN, The New York Times, TIME magazine, RIAA. Go out hunting for sources and save them somewhere. You might also want to buy some books if you don't have some already. — Realist2 06:03, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
OK, i added the new template to everything. Thanx for help with that, I will get back to you about Marvin some time in a week. Try to get some info together. Cheers. — Realist2 08:02, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Do you know much about these two songs Do What You Do and Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin' (Too Good to Be True). Were they both singles, were they a double A-side, was one a b-side. We are trying to figure out. Cheers. — Realist2 07:30, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

OK, I can start helping you with the Marvin Gay article. First thing first, we need to get things sourced, that's something you can do just as easily as me. Do you know how to format web links like they are on the Michael Jackson or Thriller album articles? — Realist2 20:57, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
I know how to reference several sites where I get information. Matter of fact, that's what I did while you were away, lol. BrothaTimothy (talk · contribs) 20:59, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Marvin-gaye-i-want-you.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Marvin-gaye-i-want-you.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 07:19, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Marvin-and-diana.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Marvin-and-diana.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:13, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Image copyright problem

Thanks for your uploads. You've indicated that the following images are being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why they meet Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page an image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Tina Turner

Thanks for your contributions to the page. Just a note, please keep in mind that guidelines indicate a person should be referred to by either the entire name or the surname only. The only time the first name should be used alone would be in a quote or in special circumstances, such as in this article, when differentiating in the sections talking about Tina and Ike Turner. That Jackson documentary... and this....

Have you heard about the Jackson's documentary about them Going to Devon in the UK. It's going to air on British TV soon and there are sources reporting on it, it's been getting some good reviews. Maybe you would like to start an article on it since I know you like starting new articles. Also, are you aware of this? — Realist2 22:25, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Oh don't worry about that lawsuit, it will fade from public consciousness soon enough. It won't change anything, those people who like him will continue to like him, those who hate him will continue to hate him. I just wish people would look after the guy, he's clearly a vulnerable individual. — Realist2 23:43, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. You do this by listing the parents near the bottom of the page, each enclosed in double brackets like so:

[[Category:Albums by producer]]
[[Category:Parent2]]

Image copyright problem with File:Marvinis60.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Marvinis60.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Marvin Is 60: A Tribute Album, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Marvin Is 60: A Tribute Album was previously deleted as a result of an articles for deletion (or another XfD)

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Marvin Is 60: A Tribute Album, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Marvin_Gaye_and_Tammi_Terrell.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 15:01, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Tammi Terrell

The man in the image you added is not Marvin Gaye; it's David Ruffin. Someone vandalized the description. Ward3001 (talk) 21:16, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

The image was uploaded with the caption about David Ruffin, not Gaye. It certainly looks a lot more like Ruffin to me, especially his trademark glasses. Ruffin and Terrell had a relationship. If there is significant disagreement, we should leave the image out of Terrell's article. Ward3001 (talk) 21:30, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Marvinstar.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Marvinstar.jpg.

Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 00:35, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Reminisce (song)

The article Reminisce (song) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet WP:SONG and has no significance. Is a stub and was never even released as a single.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. PopMusicBuff talk 15:45, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

As you are one of the top five contributors, I'm letting you know that James Brown has been nominated for GA Review, and I have started the review. SilkTork *YES! 10:52, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

There is a lot of work to do. I have put it on hold for seven days; but given the low level of activity so far, I anticipate that the work will not be completed by that time, and the nomination will fail. SilkTork *YES! 17:49, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Hey I just got your message. Yeah, we can definitely try to edit some things to make James' article look good. :) I'm down for it. BrothaTimothy (talk · contribs) 19:17, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Thanks for your edits to Patti LaBelle. Just a friendly reminder: please remember to write an edit summary before saving your edits. Thanks! —BMRR (talk) 00:11, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Brotha Timothy! I know that you and Furious Freddy (aka B Touch) happen to be the main contributors to The Supremes and also Diana Ross material here on Wikipedia. You have both done an amazing job on this! I want to ask you (and Furious Freddy) for your help on the dates for this link, please. If you click on it, go to the talk page and my question there is for the two of you. Also, The Beatles and The Supremes are my favorite groups. They were the top two music acts in the world during the 1960s, as you probably already know. I am at the moment involved in a project called The Beatles timeline. When this gets done, I am hoping that you and Furious Freddy can help me out on a new project which will be called 'The Supremes timeline'. When this is about to begin, I will immediately notify you. It should be either this Saturday or maybe next Saturday. Thanks! Best, --Discographer (talk) 22:00, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Thta's what I want to hear Brotha Timothy! I definately will be keeping in touch with you. Thanks! Best, --Discographer (talk) 22:28, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
Well, I'm making progress on The Supremes timeline. I found in an edit you did yesterday on Cindy Birdsong that you (correctedly) changed her birth year from 1939 to 1942. If you like to do any editing there in correcting or filling in date blanks or adding somethimg in, it's okay. I could use your Supreme expertise in helping out on this. If you have any questions about the template timeline rule, or anything, just let me know. Thanks! Best, --Discographer (talk) 00:13, 7 November 2009 (UTC)
If we can find something showing Cindy's correct age, that will be great. We probably should change it back from 1942 to 1939, so not to cause any problems. With her being a nurse also, she could have went to school, too. Best, --Discographer (talk) 00:02, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

Ron Isley released from federal prison in October 2009

Do you have a source for this edit? The Prison Bureas says he is in a missouri half way house. Apparently Tom Joyner said on his Mon 9 Nov radio show that Ron was released, but we need a souce. Thanks. 12.39.210.68 (talk) 16:38, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

I haven't found any sources but I've heard from people close to the situation that he was released early. BrothaTimothy (talk · contribs) 17:19, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

O okay. But we need a concrete source to put in the article as a citation. Also, I did some adding to his bio. I added his marriage to Angela Winbush and kandi Johnson. I know he has a grown daughter named Tawanna w an ex girlfriend; as well as a 2yr old son named Ron Jr. Pleaase add mroe info. Doesnt he have more than 2 kids? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.39.210.68 (talk) 22:55, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Marvinmidnight-love.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Marvinmidnight-love.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 06:32, 8 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 06:32, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello BrothaTimothy! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 11 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 940 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Decades singers category

Hi, BrothaTimothy, long time no see, (well talk to anyway, I suppose). That's a great idea you had in creating 1960s singers, etc, categories. I found it out accidently be being curious as to what all these "external links" edits you been up to lately, so I saw it in the Diana Ross edit, and thought, "Clever!, that's good! I'm going to let him know!" And, so I am! Well, talk to you later my friend!!! Best, --Discographer (talk) 11:22, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Marvin Gaye portal

Hi,BrothaTimothy! I've asked User:Moxy to turn this into a portal, which could have never became as great an article it is if it weren't for you! Being his anniversary (dates that is, death and birth) this would be a good time to do this. You've done really good on this my friend, including related articles, to his main page. Best, --Discographer (talk) 00:36, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Marvin Gaye had two music videos, according to his discography infobox. I believe "Sexual Healing" is one, since I remember seeing it back in the 1980s on TV, but am not sure on the other. Can you let me know what it's called, and also verify if the infobox number is correctly two music videos, please? Thanks my friend! Best, --Discographer (talk) 05:59, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi, well I fixed up Marvin Gaye discography, feel free to make any changes you see need done. Best, --Discographer (talk) 22:48, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
BrothaTimothy, hi, I've asked Moxy about this again, and he says he's waiting for some fair-use images which he's sent off for before he creates this portal. Good! "...listenning to Marvin, all night long..." ("True", 1983). Best, --Discographer (talk) 00:05, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the message, that was quick! Oh, I love that category you created. Songs in memory of Marvin Gaye! Best, --Discographer (talk) 00:13, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I just found out it officially is 1939 - so, we stand correct! Best, --Discographer (talk) 23:10, 11 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! Hey, have you considered on creating a "book" for Marvin Gaye? You can format it after Book:The Supremes which I created! Best, --Discographer (talk) 23:18, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 19:08, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Donnasummerworkshard.JPG

Thank you for uploading File:Donnasummerworkshard.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 12:52, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
