Another look[edit]

The nom really was required by wp:before to do a google search first; and I think it's generally good form for AfD voters to do the same before opining. While an article may be lacking, if there are sources out there (though not reflected in the article), it is not a proper candidate for deletion. In any even, I've added a smattering of sources, so in the event you are not watching the AfD page, I thought I would let you know -- you may want to take another look at the article, and perhaps consider your vote. See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Punchball. Best.--Epeefleche (talk) 04:41, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Importance[edit]

[1] Article importance is subjective, but I am certain that ScreenWest is neither mid nor high for the Australian and WA projects. Those grades are kept for truly notable topics such as important landmarks or bios of very influential people (eg Premiers, Kings Park). The table at the top of Category:High-importance Western Australia articles and the articles categorised as such will give an idea. To be honest, the ScreenWest article as it now stands, is only marginally notable per WP standards. I have reverted the ratings. Sing out if you need a hand. –Moondyne 12:01, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just discovered Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Australian cinema task force which might interest you. –Moondyne 12:05, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A (smallish) funding bureacracy more important than a premier? Hmmm. Within the arts arena, funding is important I'm sure, but in the context of an encyclopaedia, I think not. Anyway, this matter is so trivial I won't revert you again but do ask you to consider what I've said and that perhaps I know what I'm talking about in respect of an article's place in the Wikipedia notability hierarchy. I've been doing this for 6 years, and you been here for 3 weeks. Your contributions are appreciated and I hope you hang around. –Moondyne 13:54, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Purely for the sake of discussion, why would you say a Screenwest is more important than the Cygnet? One has been here for only a relatively short time (the website indicates 10 or so years); there's no secondary sources available to say why its important—only its own website; its function seems to be to receive funding from Lotteries West & consolidated revenue and hand that on to film-makers. The other is an iconic heritage listed art-deco theatre. It has provided an entertainment venue to countless thousands of people for over 70 years. As well as the state list it is on the Register of the National Estate. It is vitally important to the whole state both culturally and architecturally and is an important part of Como/S.Perth's social history. The article has a dozen or so secondary sources supporting that.
I consider myself fairly well-informed but confess I've never heard of ScreenWest until this evening. My wife and I also go to the cinema occasionally. Clearly it is important to those who make films but to the other 99.9% of the population it isn't. I think that your comparison is biased because of where you sit, and that the average reader of this encyclopaedia would have a very different perspective and idea of what's important. My question above is slightly rhetorical, but perhaps I am missing something. –Moondyne 15:00, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Unfounded WP:ABF struck out. My apologies. –Moondyne 15:29, 19 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on ZODIAC MOTHERFUCKER requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. • Per your request, now in your userspace at User:Brunk500/ZODIAC MOTHERFUCKER. I looked at the article again, and didn't see any reliable sources per WP:V that show this anonymous person's notability. Blogs aren't reliable sources. NawlinWiki (talk) 14:23, 21 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • I've reviewed your draft -article again. The only sources *independent of the AV Club* that mention ZMF are two blogs (your sources 8 and 9). Therefore, there aren't reliable, independent sources to establish ZMF's notability. If you can find a reference to ZMF in a reliable independent source, let me know. You do have a highly dynamic IP address, though, and there are a lot of users (at least one naughty) coming through on your range. --jpgordon::==( o ) 04:23, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
