Have you looked at the Editing Wikipedia brochure? (You should have gotten a hardcopy of it, but I have included a link to the pdf for convenience.) That's probably the place to get an idea of how to start. You should also spend some time looking at what good Wikipedia articles look like, in order to get a sense of what you might model your work on. Based on what's in your sandbox, you might take a look at some of the articles in Category:Serial murders in the United States, Category:Unidentified serial killers and Category:Serial killers.
