No, Wikipedia is free of charge. It depends what you mean by getting into trouble—certainly, we don't think it's very nice when visitors vandalize our encyclopedia, and troublesome users may be blocked. But you're not the first user to get a bit carried away when discovering the allure of editing. Feel free to look around a bit more, and hopefully find a way you can contribute as well.
