April 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm Just plain Bill. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to International Academy of Macomb because it didn't appear constructive. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks! __ Just plain Bill (talk) 23:02, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. __ Just plain Bill (talk) 16:45, 3 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. __ Just plain Bill (talk) 19:07, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edits like this are pretty far outside policy here at Wikipedia. We aren't a general purpose website, we are an encyclopedia, and as such, we have guidelines on what kind of material is allowable. Edits like your

The International Academy's first graduating class matriculated in 2012, and made a phenomenal impact on Macomb County. With millions of dollars worth of scholarships the IAM proved itself as a successful and highly esteemed school.

are what we call "fluff", and are routinely edited out. You keep adding it back, but you are doing so in an edit war. If someone reverts your edits out, the burden is on you to discuss the addition, via a little thing we call WP:BRD. If you continue to keep adding this back in without first discussing your edits and getting a consensus to add this, on the talk page of that article, you will likely be blocked from editing here. Hi, Thank you for the information, but may I ask what is wrong with this phrase so I can edit it out?

Thank you

  • Honestly, the entire edit is just not encyclopedic. Again, we are an encyclopedia, which means we document facts that are reported by reliable sources, in summary form. We are not here to promote any entity. Any language that is gushing with praise is what some of us call "fluffy". IE: full of air with no substance. You can't give your opinion about how good the teachers are, or how much they care. Honestly, the entire section is out of policy. The best I can offer is to go look at other articles on similar topics and get an idea of what we want. One place you can get help on how to edit here is called the WP:Teahouse. Lots of friendly people wanting to help you there. But adding "fluff", or "edit warring" to keep putting back material is not acceptable here. Oh, and if you will please add ~~~~ after your posts on talk pages (to the left of the 1 key, use SHIFT with it), it will automatically add your signature. It makes discussions much easier and is required to prevent confusion. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 19:36, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, Thank you for the information. I completely understand that this sounds not encyclopedic. I know this will probably not affect that decision very much, but I'd just like to inform you that although these things may sound funny or incorrect, they are completely 100% true.

Thanks again and I'm sorry for any time wasted Bubbagump02 (talk) 21:15, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not a problem. We want you to join us, be part of the community and edit here. I completely understand your enthusiasm. I'm hoping you stick around a while and learn enough to be helpful. It isn't hard, there are just some basics and a "frame of mine" to keep when editing. If you have any other questions, just go to my talk page (the 2c link in my signature) and I will be happy to help any way I can. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 22:14, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
