Speedy deletion of David Morley (musician)
[edit]A tag has been placed on David Morley (musician) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. - Thanks for your note. Like I said, though, there is no hint of meeting Wikipedia's requirements for notability-- see WP:BIO, WP:BLP, and WP:N. Encyclopedias require verifiable information from reliable third party sources unconnected with the subject. If any third party has written biographies or articles about you, that would be significant coverage. If many third party sources have each written a little about you that adds up to a large amount of information, that would be significant coverage. Not everyone linked in an article is notable enough for an article.
- There is a large stylistic difference between writing for an encyclopedia and almost anything else today. You must be conscious of tone. Copy and pasting from almost anywhere else sticks out like a sore thumb. It also is incompatible with Wikipedia's GFDL licensing of content. Anything copyrighted elsewhere cannot be used without being completely rewritten.
- You need to (we all do and can) de-link any incorrect links you find (or I'll try to remember to do it) with an edit summary saying something like "wrong David Morley." Perhaps if you could track down reliable sourcing for each mention in other article it might add of to significant 3rd party coverage.
- The final problem is conflict of interest. It is not forbidden to write about onesself, but it tends to lack credibility or invite skepticism. You might want to look at WP:AUTO. Better to have others write about you. Hope this helps, Dlohcierekim 13:20, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
