Per Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons, we need to avoid adding that kind of tabloid gossip to articles. As you even admitted, people called the anecdote into question, so why insist on putting it here? Most likely, there was confusion between the two players due to a language issue. Even if other sources picked up the story, we should try to have higher standards. It just looks juvenile and tacky, IMO. Zagalejo^^^ 15:33, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. When I talked about people questioning the story, I was thinking about the Deadspin article you used as a reference. It prefaced a sentence by saying, "Whatever its relationship to the truth...", which suggests they aren't convinced the story is true.
I see where you're coming from, and I think my calling it a "tabloid" story was a bit much. However, the anecdote still has a really flimsy foundation, and I'd feel most comfortable avoiding it altogether. As far as I'm aware, there aren't any sources that analyzed Jacobsen's claim in any detail. I just don't see a way to make things work. Zagalejo^^^ 01:25, 11 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I did a bit of searching. According to his NBA draft profile, he was associated with a team called Prissé-Macon, but could not play due to "transfer problems": [1] I'll let you know if I see anything else. Zagalejo^^^ 22:57, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Opting in to VisualEditor

[edit]

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 50 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:14, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Slasher (basketball), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dunk (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 19:54, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
