Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Someone must have been lazy, as you have not been welcomed yet. Thank you for your contributions. Since you have been here for a while, we can pretty much assume you are not a troll, vandal, or clueless newbie. I hope you continue to like the place and don't get all grumpy and leave over nothing. Here are a few good links for newcomers, even though you aren't one:

I hope you still enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian, and won't get mad over something stupid and leave! By the way, please be sure to continue to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome, and sorry for your not being welcomed in the past! For future reference images should be listed at Images for deletion, not Miscellaneous for deletion. I've sorted it out for you. Happy editing! Steve block talk 12:50, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have re-uploaded the image. I'm not clear why you felt it necessary to list the image for deletion, could you clarify what went on for me? Also, please don't hesitate to ask me if you run into problems in the future. Happy editing. Steve block talk 13:54, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the help. I needed to edit the text I wrote when I uploaded, and there's no way to do this. Burns flipper 08:13, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Sarah jane honeywell.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Sarah jane honeywell.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 19:54, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Change to Common.css[edit]

Per recent discussions, the way in which Persondata is viewed by Wikipedia editors has changed. In order to continue viewing Persondata in Wikipedia articles, please edit your user CSS file to display table.persondata rather than table.metadata. More specific instructions can be found on the Persondata page. --ShakingSpirittalk on behalf of Kaldari 00:48, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lone Wolf Wiki[edit]

Hello, hows it going Burns? I was wondering if you wanted to help out with the Lone Wolf wiki I am setting up [1]. It is going to be awesome, I'm going to salvage all of the stuff I put on wikipedia and shape it for this wikia, it'll be perfect for all the details and trivia that don't fit on wikipedia. If you want to, it'd be great! Judgesurreal777 11:57, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, do you know anyone else who might be interested? Spread the word!!!! Judgesurreal777 11:58, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Judge, great work on all the LW content you've added over this past year, you've really made an awesome contribution. I'd love to help but have very limited time, so I'd be limited to adding bits to and editing. To recruit others, I'd really recommend raising it in the forums of Tower of The Sun and MongoosePublishing.com, getting a news piece done on lobosolitaro, and get a link from projectaon.org - that will cover all your bases. Good luck and I'll help out when I can. Burns flipper 13:07, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks much, that will help a lot! :) I had one question, how do I get small references like the ones formatted on wikipedia these days? The ones I'm getting now see mike the old format or something. Thanks much! PS I'm uploading images, trying to make a "Featured Article" for that wiki! Judgesurreal777 22:53, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On wikipedia I just use the {{refs}} template, but I've tried that on the LW wiki and it seems to refer to a million other templates. Some of the wikipedia citation templates refer to 'cite.php' - this might help? Burns flipper 07:50, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Wally in CMI[edit]

Hey Burns! Remember me from AG?

I deleted a trivia item in The Curse of Monkey Island article on the following grounds: the fact that Wally is in the carnival of the damned is perhaps not very significant? It's about the same significance as mentioning that there are dolls of LeChuch and Guybrush in the Carnival. My other reason was that good Wikipedia articles don't have bullet-pointed trivia sections and making the section shorter is a step towards a Good Article.

But you reverted my removal... Do you have a specific reason for keeping that line in the article?

Cheers!--Wormsie 21:13, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Wormsie, yes I rememeber you, long time no see! I kept the line because it's relevant to the characters in the series. I've just checked and Wally has his own article which also states this appearance, so it should be removed from the CMI page. It might also be helpful to add to the Talk page for the article which sections should be removed or worked into the article better, so everyone can help towards GA status. Graham Phillips (author)[edit]

The article Graham Phillips (author) has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki 12:42, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Samorost[edit]

I would like to ask a question about your edit to the page Samorost on Wikipedia which you made on June 12th. I would like to ask for your source of such translation?

Samorostlý, an adjective derived from the word Samorost, would mean self-made in English, that's why self-grower or similar translation for the word Samorost would be much more accurate. I'm not quite sure how did you come up with driftwood - it's something completely different if I'm not mistaken. Thanks. --IJK_Principle 11:47, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Usborne Spinechiller series, by Calton (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Usborne Spinechiller series is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Usborne Spinechiller series, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 15:39, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cifrangon[edit]

Hello, if you read the Cifrangon article for deletion, you'll see it is the book (printed by a vanity publisher) that was questioned as an example of original research, and that decision was upheld and the article deleted. The theories contained in the article were original research, as is the addition to the ark of the covenant page by the same user and hence are violations of our policy, WP:OR. Do you mind taking it out again? Thanks. Benea 11:48, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Ralph Ellis[edit]

A tag has been placed on Ralph Ellis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. andy 12:27, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Christopher Dunn (engineer)[edit]

An editor has nominated Christopher Dunn (engineer), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christopher Dunn (engineer) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 03:44, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:TheCurseOfTheLostIdol.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:TheCurseOfTheLostIdol.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:26, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Jw schoollogo.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jw schoollogo.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --FairuseBot (talk) 03:51, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Arcadia.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Arcadia.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:33, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:Stark (TLJ).jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Stark (TLJ).jpg. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Better source request for File:Magnamund.jpg[edit]

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Notice

The article Higgledy House has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Appears to fail WP:NTV and WP:GNG. Tagged for notability since 2021

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
