Instructor feedback for draft[edit]
Overall, I think you are setting the stage for some nice contributions to this article. I like the section topics you added. Although I think the "performative self" section is good, I think many readers might not have enough background of communication theory to fully understand what you are trying to get at there. Either there needs to be more elaboration there or simplify the mains points you want to make. The first paragraph in the "emotional expression and identity formation" section needs more focus on communication as well as connection to emotional expression as described by the existing article. I think there needs to be a clearer conceptualization of behaviors such as voting as a form of emotional expression. Although describing protests as unconventional forms of emotional expression there are not unconventional political tools. What makes these forms of emotional expression as defined above by the existing article and not behaviors of activism or persuasion? Each of these new sections needs more elaboration. Many of the sentences could use another sentence to "unpack" it and give the reader something tangible to draw from. Something that might help could be to have a transition section where you move the concept from a micro lens of short-lived emotional expressions to emotions that can motivate action and infuse those actions as they are carried out.
