AfD nomination of Shields Pictures[edit]

An editor has nominated Shields Pictures, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shields Pictures and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Adding spam to Wikipedia[edit]

This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from any site that uses the MediaWiki spam blacklist, which includes all of Wikimedia and Wikipedia. On Your Email to Me[edit]

Hello CCBear! I would be more than willing to help you learn the ropes of Wikipedia. Don't be discouraged if the first article that you create gets deleted, that's how I started too. If you ever have any questions on anything, feel free to leave a comment on my talk page and I will be glad to help you out. Also, about your question on commenting on article talk pages: feel free to do it. That's what they're there for. The purpose of talk pages is to have a productive discussion on the topic of the article. Again, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Happy Editing. --דניאל - Danielrocks123 contribs 17:12, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Again[edit]

I edited Shields Pictures so that once the AfD tag is removed, it will automatically redirect to Shields Pictures, Inc. I expect that an admin will make the final decision on the AfD within the next couple of days. At the moment, it does look most likely that the article will be kept. Once that decision is made, the closing admin will remove the AfD tag from the page. As far as adding pictures, you do not need to get them approved beforehand, but Wikipedia does have very strict rules about what pictures you may add. The photos can be uploaded by clicking on the "upload file" button on the left side of your screen. They can then be added to the article. You must remember, however, that when you upload pictures, you must include a copyright tag. Most photographs are copyrighted, and you must show that you are using that image with permission. If you have created the picture yourself, include a tag when you upload the picture saying so and releasing it into public domain. If you do not provide a tag when you upload a picture showing that you are using it with permission, the picture will be deleted within a few days.
Anyway, keep up the good work with your editing. I can see that you are determined to learn how Wikipedia works. I encourage you to start editing lots of articles besides the few that you are currently involved with. It really is a great way to learn lots of new stuff :)
By the way, AfD discussions usually last 7 days. It has now been 5 days since your article was listed. The discussion sometimes goes a day or two longer, but rarely more. I expect that a decision will be made quite soon.
Remember, you can leave me a question on my talk page at any time. Happy editing. --דניאל - Danielrocks123 contribs 21:15, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio issue[edit]

Hi -- while I appreciate that Shields Pictures, Inc. is substantially different, I found the other three articles to be closely based on the Shields Pictures website articles. Merely paraphrasing a copyrighted work does not make it a new one. What you should do, if you want to rewrite articles on those subjects, is to find a variety of sources discussing them, learn as much as you can about each one, and then write an article based on your knowledge, not on the text of the sources. If you can't find any other sources, it may not really be appropriate to have articles on those subjects, because it's hard to avoid plagiarism issues with only one source. Quitting Wikipedia[edit]

Hello CCBear. I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling good about other users' responses to your edits. I would encourage you not to simply quit Wikipedia just because you are frustrated with the original response to your work. With a little time, you will become quite proficient in Wikipedia policies. Then, I think you will be able to create a good article. I would, however, discourage you from having someone from Shields Pictures write a rebuttel. It is frowned upon around here for people to write articles about themselves, companies that they are associated with, etc. As I mentioned to you before, my first article on Wikipedia was deleted. Perhaps you should spend some time editing articles that you don't feel so strongly about before you decide to call it quits. --דניאל - Danielrocks123 contribs 20:03, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletionists, etc.[edit]

Hi CCBear. I'm responding to your email to me thanking me for my valid point in the Shields Pictures Inc. deletion debate. Thank you for your civility. I apologize on behalf of User:Nardman1. I personally don't follow the deletionist philosophy, and I believe that many deletionists get unneccessarily snarky in the deletion debates. I would encourage you not to give up in your quest to understand Wikipedia policy and culture so that you can successfully defend the articles you care about from deletionist attacks. You may want to read WP:CITE to learn how to rigorously list your sources so that the deletionists can't complain. And of course, always write articles with reliable secondary sources so that they don't get nominated for deletion in the first place. Let me know if you have any other questions, and I'll do my best to answer them. Thanks again for your email. ≈≈Carolfrog≈≈§тос§ 15:51, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright Issues[edit]

I actually don't have that much experience with copyright stuff, but from what I understand, one of the easiest ways to avoid miscellaneous editors accusing you of violating copyright when a source is used exactly, is to have an obvious granting of rights under the GDFL on the source itself. I personally don't know how to do that, but I think the page you were looking at is probably a good place to start. Hope this helps. ≈≈Carolfrog≈≈♦тос♦ 02:35, 17 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
