Thank you too

You've made quite a page for Bhutan. After years of absence I've returned to Wikipedia, because I suddenly discovered that Suriname was doing surprisingly well fighting the coronavirus. Since then I've been updating the forgetting countries at the bottom of the list and I was quite pleasantly surprised when I saw what a great page Bhutan had. KittenKlub (talk) 16:09, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

@KittenKlub: Yes small countries are hardly mentioned in the news about this pandemic. I am currently living in Bhutan so it is fairly easy to keep on top of the news here. So far, Bhutan has handled this very well. Of course it helps that the current prime minister, health minister and foreign minister are all medical doctors - so they actually know what they are doing (unlike it seems the leaders of some much larger and richer nations). The Bhutanese King, who is highly respected here, has also taken a leading role. Chris Fynn (talk) 16:30, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

COVID-19 pandemic in Bhutan

Sorry, only saw the in-use template after I made the edit. I'll keep my mitts off for now. Thanks for your work on this. Capewearer (talk) 12:56, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

@Capewearer: Fixed all the broken and duplicated references, and I'm done for now. Cheers. Chris Fynn (talk) 13:29, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

Tashi Delek, Christopher Fynn

I've put Bhutan on my watchlist, and will update the count and the charts. I hope it's not that table which is indeed too much work or the copyright paranoid who deleted those pictures. Feel free to take break. Been there, done it. In fact I had been absent from this site for more than 10 years because I was fed up, and had a couple of moments on my return for COVID-19 as well.

So why are some like me doing this, because strangely we have gotten used to COVID-19; just like people during wars got used to death and destruction. Mother nature freaked us back in March. It freaked me personally, because I probably got infected on Friday 13th of March, but I was too young and except for the occasional cough wasn't even sick, so I have never been tested, and lost in the statistics like most. Now it's the new norm. So why are we documenting it, because this a period of great change. Not all of is good, some things which happen are down right evil, but mother nature has given the entire world a wake-up call after a century of silence. Enjoy your break, and don't worry about. Khyungpo Naljor moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Khyungpo Naljor, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Tibetan Script

Dear Chris Fynn,

Are you considering a font of Tibetan script?

Similar to the fourth line in barter & droma's beginner Tibetan? Many suttas are written in such a calligraphic style and a font would be most helpful, though not easy.

Takpa language page

Hi Chris,

I changed དཀ་པ་ to དག་པ་ in the text because the former is incorrect combination of letters, but there is an image with the former in the same page. Please upload an image with the latter one.

Decline reason:

Your account is not directly blocked, but per below we need more information from you in order to resolve this assuming it's an accident. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:27, 1 August 2022 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

.

Clearing an autoblock

Due to the nature of the block applied, we need additional information before we can decide whether to unblock you. It is very likely that you are not personally blocked. If you are prevented from editing, it may be because you are autoblocked or blocked because of your IP address. Without further details, there is nothing further we can do to review or lift your block. Please follow these instructions:

  1. If you have a Wikipedia account, please ensure that you are logged in.
Your account name will be visible in the top right of this page if you are.
If it isn't, try bypassing your web browser's cache.
  2. Try to edit the Sandbox.
If you are able to edit the sandbox, you are not blocked from editing. Either the autoblock on your IP address has already expired, or you weren't blocked in the first place. Either way, you can resume editing.
  3. If you are still blocked, follow the directions below:
    1. Copy the {{unblock-auto|...}} code generated for you under the "Unblock request" section.
    2. Paste the code at the bottom of your user talk page, and click save.
If you cannot edit your own talk page, use the Unblock Ticket Request System to make your request.

@Daniel Case:

You say my account is not directly blocked ~ but it still appears to be blocked.
I just get the message:
"This account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia.
This does not affect your ability to read Wikipedia pages.
The account $7 has been blocked (disabled) by $1 for the following reason(s):
$2
This block will expire on $6."
Which isn't very helpful at since I don't know what $7, $1, $2 and $6 are supposed to represent.
::
How am I supposed to appeal this block when I don't know the reason?
I've tried clearing my cache and other suggestions
I Cant find any code at the bottom of my user page to paste.
How can I get this sorted out?
Thank you.

Chris Fynn (talk) 18:44, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

@CFynn: The block message should say what IP the server believes your edits are coming from. As for those dollar sign numbers, it looks like something's wrong on the software end because it looks they're placeholders for data that should be there.

This is beyond my technical capabilities. I suggest that you go to WP:IPECPROXY and follow the instructions there (you can use email; you do not need to edit) to request IP block exemption as it really sounds like you're on (or are being redirected to) a blocked proxy (are you using a VPN?). By doing this your account will be subject to a checkuser, who can see what IP you're coming from. And if we find it what IP it is and (assuming there is an open-proxy block) who placed it, we might be able to figure out what got you that screwy message. — Daniel Case (talk) 02:17, 14 August 2022 (UTC)

@Daniel Case: Thank you. Yes, something is wrong with the software.I realize the dollar sign numbers are placeholders that should be replaced with some text string ~ but his is not working. I'm not using a VPN - and usually editing from Firefox.I'm editing from Bhutan, so the IP address may be a little rare, but I've been editing Wikipedia from here for many years and never encountered this sort of problem before. As you suggested, I have submitted an unblock request at WP:IPECPROXY and hope they are able to do something about this block. Blocked Again

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

CFynn (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Again I'm blocked and still don't know why. This block seems to be off and on.
I was able to make a couple of edits on Aug 14, but today I find I'm unable to edit (blocked) again.
The block message still just says:

"This account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia.</brnn
This does not affect your ability to read Wikipedia pages.
The account $7 has been blocked (disabled) by $1 for the following reason(s):
$2
so I still don't know the reason for the block nor what IP address WP thinks I'm editing from.
For that reason I'm unable to provide further information.
Thank-you for your attention to this.
Chris Fynn (talk) 13:55, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Well, dollar signs shouldn't appear in the message; they're placeholders used by the software and should be replaced by the actual values. The reason why your IP address is blocked is because of a p2p proxy. Someone on your IP address, either you or another customer on your ISP, is running VPN software. If it's you, disable this software. If it's not you, you could try requesting IP block exemption. I'll grant you IPBE for a month so you at least have an opportunity to get this resolved. You should read the instructions in that link for how to request long-term IP block exemption. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 16:00, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

@NinjaRobotPirate: Thanks for your help. The dollar sign place-holders appear in the messages, and are not being replaced by string values, so I suspect there may be a fault or limitation in the software that is supposed to do this. The messages are pretty well meaningless without this. Should I report this fault somewhere?
I am not using VPN Software. I'm editing from Bhutan - and there are essentially only two ISPs in the country (Bhutan Telecom and Tashi Cell), I'll try and inquire with my ISP to see whether they are using a VPN, but it would be impossible to tell if any of their other customers (using the same ISP ) are using a VPN, as about half the internet users in the country are using the same ISP. I've been editing WP from Bhutan for about 18 years and never encountered such problems before so I suspect this may be due to some recent system change, either on this end or on the WP end. Meanwhile, I'll do as you suggested and request a long-term IP block exemption. Cheers and thanks once again. Chris Fynn (talk) 07:54, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
You could try asking about the error at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). It might be an easily solved problem. If that doesn't work out, try Wikipedia:Bug reports and feature requests. As far as the block itself goes, this was detected as a peer-to-peer VPN, so it'll be a customer. If you've enabled a feature like "hide my IP address from websites" or "enhance my network privacy", that would enable a VPN. If you can't figure it out, try a reputable tech support forum.
