Difference between User Page and article name

[edit]

Hello - I'm trying to start from scratch. My username is CMScrapbook and I'm now logged into my account (obviously). I think of CMScrapbook as my homepage. In my account homepage I want to create new article called Larry Packer - a Woodstock musician who used to play with The Band among others. I have many references I will try to insert. I cannot get a sandbox page with Larry Packer as the title. HelpCMScrapbook (talk) 20:01, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft can be edited here Draft:Larry Packer which would be preferable, but if you wish to create a sandbox you can do that here User:CMScrapbook/sandbox/Larry Packer. Theroadislong (talk) 20:26, 8 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your submission at Articles for creation: Larry Packer (December 1)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted because it included copyrighted content, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. You are welcome to write an article on the subject, but please do not use copyrighted work. Bkissin (talk) 15:45, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have an obvious conflict of interest, please don't write about yourself, your friends or relatives and read the guidance below:

  • When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Before attempting to write an article again, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also reply to the COI request above. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:35, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

More

[edit]

Thanks for message.

  • Much of your text is unsourced, if you can't verify what you have written from independent verifiable sources, you must take it out
  • You describe his career, and a lot of it is he played with... followed by interminable lists of what feels like every musician on the planet. Playing with someone notable doesn't, of itself, make him notable, and just looks like name-dropping
  • You litter the text with your opinions, the great... etc, don't do that. I've removed some examples

He's probably notable, but you need to remove or source all uncited text, dump the "he's played with everyone on the planet stuff, make sure the tone is neutral and give chart placings if applicable Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:33, 20 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Liz - I've hired a freelance writer to finish the Larry Packer article. Currently she is trying to work within the guidelines to publish, so we'll soon request retrieval so she can finish and submit. Meanwhile, purely by coincidence, I am in Woodstock, NY, visiting with Larry Packer, getting stories about his three years in Cat Mother and the All Night Newsboys for my Cat Mother website - going to launch soon.
