Welcome![edit]

Hello, CR1972, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Camilo Rebelo, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I would like to know how i can solve the conflict of interest, I have read some articles about but still I don't know how to solve it. and another matter is that it is written that I have no references but I have added before around 14 references which are totally valid and recognized.

Looking forward for your help regards

When GoingBatty reviewed your draft, it had no references, hence his comment. Since then, you've added quite a few, but a lot the websites are from user generated sites. The archdaily one doesn't really have enough text to mention anyone, never mind the architect. I suppose I could, in theory, check out the books from the library, but given the quality of the web citations, I'm in doubt as to the quality of the book citations.
As for the conflict of interest, you can declare it here.I dream of horses (talk page) (Contribs) Remember to notify me after replying off my talk page. 18:43, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. I have added more references but not published it yet. About the conflicts of interest: I clicked on what you sent me and it appears a box to write and on top it is written creating user: +my name, and also this text in bracket.(If you want to draft an article, please create a userspace draft instead of creating it here. You may also want to read Wikipedia:Your first article, which explains what is expected of articles on Wikipedia. Articles or promotional content, including CVs or résumés, on user pages may be deleted. For more information on user pages, see Wikipedia:User pages.)

what may I write in this box? Thank a lot for your reply in advance.

Not sure what COI template you need, so I'll presume the paid editing one - So this needs to go on your user page {{paid}}, replace the entries for employer and client to relevant information for you - RichT|C|E-Mail 19:50, 3 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again,

Thanks for your reply. i was reading the pages related to the conflict of interest. I am not paid to write this biography. I am just writing about the biography of an architect through out the passion since I am a young architect and I would like to do some activities on the side of my studying. what type of COI template i should use to declare the conflict of interest? Regards and thanks again.

Use of a template is not required. You can write, in your own words, your non-conflict-of-interest statement and put it on your user page which hasn't been created yet. You can say a few other things there about yourself and your Wikipedia interests as well, just don't stray into the territory of trying to put up a resume, autobiography, or a draft of an article. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 20:22, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, Thank you very much for your help. I have resubmitted again the article and i have written about myself in the user page. Could you please check if there is anything missing. Best regards,

Can you confirm whether you know personally the architect who you are editing about? Have you met/spoken to them? That will confirm for me whether you have a conflict of interest and therefore whether your userpage statement is ok. Your article will go back into the review queue and will be reviewed when somebody gets round to it - but there are several thousand articles in the queue so this may not be immediate and could be up to 6-7 weeks. Dear, Thank you very much. I was in one of his conference at university and for 2 months I was his assistant, in his teaching course at university of POLIMI. Moreover, I would like to say that I am not paid by him or no one else to write an article about him on wikipedia and even he is not aware of it. It is just my passion for architecture that I am spending time for it. As I wrote in the user page, I am totally neutral and I just wrote this article for the other passionate people in architecture to have more valid references as nowadays it is very hard to find a reference in Architecture.

Could you please check carefully what I wrote in the Article? Because All what I wrote in it, it exists in all the references that I mentioned and the architect CV which is also available on the website of several universities and etc... And it really shows that I have no conflict of interest.

We need to get a few things straight. A conflict of interest is not something you should deny when your own statements explain your connection with your subject. Explain all that on your user page and don't worry overmuch about the fact that, as Wikipedia construes the term, you have a conflict of interest. You know Rebelo to the extent of working as his teaching assistant. That's all it takes to have a conflict of interest, since Wikipedia interprets that very broadly.
The main problem this presents in you writing an article about him is that you have other sources of knowledge, based on your personal experience, that may creep into your writing about him and which cannot be tied to a published source. Avoiding this is difficult, but not impossible. You can assure your neutrality by finding sources first, then write your draft based only on summarizing what the sources say. Independent sources are strongly preferred, so you should only use Rebelo's CV for the most uncontroversial facts that can't be sourced elsewhere. The community will still want to give what you write a review for neutrality, but we want that for everything. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 00:49, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, CR1972. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --- Possibly (talk) 18:37, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
