Overlinking

[edit]

Hi, I noticed your edit at Julian Assange. Per WP:OVERLINK, we do not link to commonly used words, so I removed most of the links you added. Let me know if you need any more help. --John (talk) 20:26, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Swedish political party colors

[edit]

I hope you won't revert my edits as you did with User:Dodödod, as they are based on party-published material rather than amateur approximiation. --hydrox (talk) 20:51, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uhm, this issue has been discussed several times already. The main point of using colors in infoboxes and tables is to create overlook and make it easier for readers to separate different parties from each other. The official colors of many parties, for example the Moderate Party and the Liberal Party as well as the Centre Party and the Green Party, are almost identical to each other which makes that very difficult. That's why almost all media and newspapers, as well as the Swedish Election Authority, don't use the official party colors in their graphics. Since these templates are used in many articles it would also be good if you could at least put up the issue on the talk page before making these radical changes. /Caelus sv (talk) 23:05, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
With the ones that I modified the replaced color was approximately of the same shade as the party's official color, but I do admit that the officialization has brought some of them closer together. But at least, we should avoid boilerplate colors such as #f00. I also noticed how The Alliacne's color is officially oragne/brown, but everyone seems to use blue, and replacing it would have the consequences of most people not recognizing the color (I assume). Could you please point me to a previous conversations about this issue, if any? --hydrox (talk) 19:21, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
See for example here and here at Swedish Wikipedia. I think that we should try and use the same colors here at English Wikipedia for consistency. /Caelus sv (talk) 20:07, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Though I really can't read that complicated Swedish. --hydrox (talk) 23:34, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My main concern was to ask for your input if this, for example, a really bad idea. I can see now, for example, that there are some diagram legends where these values are transcluded in their legend, so changing them is actually practically impossible without ramifications. Is this perhaps why you haven't said anything yet?:) --hydrox (talk) 09:29, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for not replying yet, I've been quite busy with IRL the last days. I will try to reply as soon as possible. /Caelus sv (talk) 10:09, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Edit, I've now replied at the Swedish Wikipedia. /Caelus sv (talk) 19:25, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks, and sorry for hurrying you there but not being able to answer myself as promptly. I will try write an answer ASAP. --hydrox (talk) 01:18, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Finally got around to writing a reply. I think we'll have to settle with the situation for now. I would suggest changing the M color even in SV-wiki as the materials that you kindly looked up seem to suggest lighter shade of blue for M, but will not personally do so because I cant understand Swedish. --hydrox (talk) 00:18, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hej Caelus sv! Would you please look in at Swedish general election, 2010, especially recent events at its talk page. (You made constructive comments a month ago, and other editors have noted that the article could be gainfully leavened with new editors!) Tack!
