New Page Review - newsletter No.2
- A HUGE backlog
We now have 816 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.
The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.
- Second set of eyes
Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.
- Abuse
This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and
- this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
- this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
- This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.
Coordinator election
Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

My wiki page has been deleted. Need help.
My wikipedia page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shahid_Hasan has been deleted by Jimfbleak . The reason mentioned is - Unambiguous advertising or promotion: no independent sources, no evidence of notability, self-written vanity page) I am not able to understand what evidence or independent sources do I need to add. I have already added a source - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3888239/?ref_=nmbio_bio_nm
Shahid Hasan is one of the greatest casting directors in bollywood and has cast actors for super hit movies. Details of him on http://www.shahidhasan.in/
He has given lectures at the top acting schools of Mumbai - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnJTDUgxKnQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1PRQNvULss
Do I have to add these Youtube links as sources?
Please help me fix this issue.

- Still a MASSIVE backlog
We now have 816 New Page Reviewers but despite numerous appeals for help, the backlog has NOT been significantly reduced.
If you asked for the New Page Reviewer right, please consider investing a bit of time - every little helps preventing spam and trash entering the mainspace and Google when the 'NO_INDEX' tags expire.

AIV reports
Please do not report to AIV when it is not vandalism as you did with User:Thevillahimalaya. The proper place to report company names is to UAA. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 11:47, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
- @Alexf: This is an ongoing ad nauseum discussion - I have admins that tell me to report to AIV, others to UAA with no consensus whatsoever. If I see an account with username, plus a promotional page, I report to AIV. Otherwise, I report to UAA instead (and even then, I was told unless edits are made, it will not be actioned upon)--Cahk (talk) 11:59, 22 February 2017 (UTC)

Greetings, I'm Exemplo347. In this edit, you wrongly identified me as the creator of User talk:Orchids the international school. While it is true that I made the first edit, a simple check of the page would have shown you that your placing of a template on my talk page was not appropriate - and yes, I know this is something that Twinkle does automatically but you are responsible for the edits Twinkle makes on your behalf and you should be checking these edits, which you've failed to do in this case. Written article about Tiche
Dear Cahk,
I have just created the article which you have checked about Tiche natural mineral water. We want to share the benefits of Natural Mineral water, which has additional impact for human body due to concentration of Calcium, Magnesium and sulphares. We have found many brands of bottled water having their own description https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bottled_water_brands Could you please recommend how we could create our description without considering this as promotional ? We want to describe product (Tiche natural mineral water) more detailed, not to promote the company.
Looking forward to your reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Monikavai (talk • contribs) 07:35, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Monikavai: The article was copied and pasted from the company catalogue, easily found via a Google search. International Socety for Research on Emotion
Yes, I removed the speedy deletion banner. I also contested your decision. ISRE is the major international society for emotion researchers, so speedy deletion on the basis of important was quite unwarranted, I am afraid. I added some links to well-known members to make this point more clearly.
Cheers Neal Ashkanasy Nealash (talk) 07:18, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Nealash: You are missing the point. As the article creator, you MUST NOT remove the speedy deletion tag regardless what you think. An administrator will review my tag and decide what to do. Removing the tag as the original author is considered to be vandalism.--Cahk (talk) 07:20, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

In response to deletion.
Hello, I noticed that you deleted the Fantoria page and suspected me of sock puppetry—just found out what that means (kind of dig the name yet hate that I was accused). I did not create a new account, but contacted a friend who knows the company and founder who then tried to make better edits. I can see how it may be seen as such (sock p) due to our back and forth on editing, but it was not. We're just newbies. The creation was not for promotional purposes but rather a starting point database for Fantoria, collecting information about it from many sources as a California based publishing company. The name is for both the company and the imaginative world with the same name. It's quite an interesting company and concept that I felt warranted a Wikipedia page that would grow as the company grew. Please have a reconsideration. Please accept my apologies if it came across malicious or if I did anything violating (I was unaware). But I do thing the page has a legit reason for being on Wikipedia. It was made in total support. Thanks Creativecat2016 (talk) 18:41, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
I just read through violations and it's right. We were wrong. It IS two different accounts, but we used the same computer to edit the same page when we should have just used one account. The Kevmix7 account was created to make edits on Fantoria and and grow their page, but all signs point to a clear vandalism after reading about it. We were very wrong—unintentional, but wrong. Please charge that to our VERY blatant novice actions, but not to any intentional maliciousness. I just hope the company page doesn't get branded for our screwup in poorly attempting to help it. Reading through Wikipedia:Notability. Yeah. Totally screwed that one up. Learn by your mistakes... :-/ Creativecat2016 (talk) 19:15, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Creativecat2016: Thanks you for your message. Please note sourcing another person solely for the purpose of concurring with the opinions you made is, according to Wikipedia rules, prohibited. I understand you are a new editor, and no further action is warranted at this point. Please be careful when you do create the article - consider creating as a draft, or in your sandbox, or via Article for Creation which would allow for guidance while you create your article.--Cahk (talk) 07:37, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
Contribution: Magnetic Russia
Hello Cahk, Thanks for reviewing my submition named Magnetic Russia. I understand that's it looks like an advertisement, so fast depiction is fair:)
I've created a new text for review. This time I tried to explain what is unique in Magnetic Russia jewelry. This brand with a created in a customer co-creation spirit, and it uses its own unique technology for that. Hopefully it will be as popular as Pandora jewelry very soon.
Here is the new text:
Magnetic Russia is a Moscow based international jewelry brand. It is the first to produce a magnet based modular jewelry. Thanks to magnet locks, customer can co-create its own model from a available parts. Earrings, necklaces and bracelets are often equipped with a magnet base, to add replaceable pendants by custommer's choice. All the replaceable pendants can be used with any model.
Magnetic Russia is founded in 2016 by a entrepreneur and internet marketing professional Devlet Butaev. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DevletButaev (talk • contribs) 14:42, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
- @DevletButaev: There are multiple problems here: First, it is a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest given you are the person who created the brand. In turn, this will almost always been viewed as advertisement. Secondly, the organization does not meet Wikipedia:Notability criteria. Finally, Wikipedia is not a place to promote, it is an encyclopedia.--Cahk (talk) 15:42, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker) @Nadeesh Hasitha:; Cahk properly tagged this article for deletion as missing references. This is a critical policy; see Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. You removed this proposed deletion, which is fine, but you did not add any references...which isn't fine. The article still contains no references of any kind to any reliable sources that sustain anything about this person. My own searches on the net have returned nothing in the news and only social media links about this person. As is, the article is a candidate for speedy deletion; there is no credible claim to fame shown in the article. See WP:CSD#A7. You should have a look at Wikipedia:Notability (people). Even if this article is not a candidate for speedy deletion (which, I think it is), it would fail to pass the notability standards we expect and would almost certainly be deleted at a standard deletion discussion. Further, the article is hardly neutral. Referring to him as having a tuneful voice, being very clever, loved by many, a great teacher, etc.; this is all unsupported by any citations and are WP:PEACOCK terms. This article would need to be dramatically rewritten to become encyclopedic, and even so we'd still be left with an article without references to any reliable sources. --Hammersoft (talk) 15:48, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Hammersoft: I just realized this is a self-vanity article, and the author had created more than one account to attempt publishing on himself.--Cahk (talk) 15:50, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

- @Nadeesh Hasitha: It became clear to me when you say it is marked for "our teacher", you are really the subject of the article written. (The username on your current account is the birth name of the subject in question) On top of that, you created more than one account to achieve the goal of publishing the article. You should be aware the latter action can get you blocked, and the article permanently protected from being created. --Cahk (talk) 15:58, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
Adminship
I brought you up at a discussion by way of finding you as the most active contributor at WP:AIV for making vandal reports. I now also see you are quite active at WP:UAA as well, and your CSD log appears to be solid. I haven't vetted you, but based on the above it would seem you would very much benefit from having the admin toolbox at your disposal. Is there any particular reason you are not an administrator? --Hammersoft (talk) 15:57, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Hammersoft: Thank you for the kind note. My account (post November 2015) has almost exclusively been for tagging advertisement, spam, attack pages, etc. Unlike most administrators, I am not very much of an article creator, and mostly, the tools I have so far have been enough for my purpose. While I like the idea of just delete and block as I go through the logs, having an administrator review my tags before blocking/deletion helps as well :-) --Cahk (talk) 16:43, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- Certainly there are times when having another set of eyes on something is useful. But, this is not necessary in 100% of cases. In the group where it is not necessary, using admin tools reduces the workload of other admins having to work through reports. For example, if you had the tools, your latest three reports to WP:UAA could have been blocked right off [1][2][3]. Instead, you spend a bit more time yourself reporting it, and take time from administrators who then need to review it and block them. See my point? You've made so many reports, it's obvious this sort of thing is of interest to you. Based on cursory review, it also appears you are making good choices as well. Having the admin tools would be easier for you, and easier for the project. --Hammersoft (talk) 17:31, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Hammersoft: I suppose. I'd think there may be some opposition if I were to be nominated, on the basis of article creation and narrow scope of focus on Wikipedia.--Cahk (talk) 20:19, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- 29 articles to your credit I think would be quite satisfactory for those that want to see article creation. --Hammersoft (talk) 20:22, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Hammersoft: Haha ... I don't object to being an administrator. Although as you know, it is not up to me. Maybe you should consider the same, as I've seen more than a few comments on your talk page ...--Cahk (talk) 07:28, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- Well, that's one way of getting back at me for suggesting it to you ;) --Hammersoft (talk) 17:45, 8 April 2017 (UTC)

UAA Reports
Thanks for your multiple reports of users to UAA. I just wanted to remind you that, in line with WP:ORGNAME users are unlikely to be blocked for being promotional unless they've also made promotional edits. Some of your recent reports, such as User:IIFT INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY and User:Kolam Foundation appear to fall into this category. In my view User:Allianceairindia is right on the edge, as they've edited a page about their own company but it wasn't overly promotional - however I know other admins interpret the policy more sharply than this so I've left that one alone.
Thanks again for your hard work. GoldenRing (talk) 10:04, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- @GoldenRing: As you mentioned, there are no clear consensus on how to deal with this issue. I've had multiple, ad nauseam discussion with editors and administrator in the past. I've decided to just report them anyway, and let an admin decide what they want to do.--Cahk (talk) 22:08, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

But there actually is consensus that reporting users with no edits at all for mild violations is not the right approach and wastes admin's time. It's been in the directions for reporting at UAA for about eight years. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:39, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

- @Beeblebrox: Here's the dilemma (for the billionth time): I see a promotional username, I don't leave a warning template on their talk page per your November message. Reporting to UAA, may result in block (per some admin), warning (per some admin), put in the holding pen (per some other admin) or nothing will happen (per some other admin). The simple solution would suggest do nothing because I don't see how this is a "consensus" when I am told to do different things by different admins. I have no intention of adding additional work for others, so if it's easier to butt out, then so be it. --Cahk (talk) 20:16, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

User_talk:Cahk/Archive_10#.22Discussing.22_with_accounts_that_have_not_edited.--Cahk (talk) 19:59, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
That's perfectly fair. I know as well as anyone that who handles your UAA report is at least part of what the response is, and I sympathize with your position. I wish it weren't' like that, but it is as you describe.
The truth is that I and a few other admins who regurlarly work UAA have been on a bit of a crusade to stop users from reporting most users with no edits, and my posting here was part of that effort. In fact I've become a bit of an evangelist for this causes. I know you are reporting things you see in good faith and are trying your best to follow what appears to be ever-changing standards based at least partially on who responds. I am trying to work this from the other end as well, attempting to raise awareness of this with other admins. It isn't an optimal situation and I'm fumbling thorough it as best I can, please don't let my comments discourage you from continuing to work in this area. Beeblebrox (talk) 07:36, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Beeblebrox: I understand where you are coming from. As you wished, I have decided to step away from that arena altogether because I can't be bothered to continue this ad nauseam discussion. I have had this discussion with at least 5 editors just this year alone, nevermind the countless times last year. The re-hashing of the whole scenario each and every time is getting very tiring (forget about finding diff's - they are buried in my contributions so deep they'll never see the daylight again). I'll be focusing on AIV instead. --Cahk (talk) 08:49, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
removal of page?
Hi Cahk,
I am new sorry for not following the correct process to edit. I would like to remove the page if possible. How can I do that? Julia does not want a profile on wikipedia.
Thanks for your help Bjjk Bjjk (talk) 08:06, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Bjjk: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a social network. The article subjects do not get to say whether they wish to have or not have an article about themselves. You can read WP:BIODEL here, but given Ms. Horvath's known publicity, I doubt she qualifies as "non-notable subject".--Cahk (talk) 08:13, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Cahk,
Ok I understand.
How can i remove all references to her gender identity. She no longer identifies as transgender and is feeling distress about the page from this perspective. it is not about there being a page it is about the references to previously disclosed information during her transition as transgender. She no longer identifies as this but as a female.
Thank you for your help Bjjk Bjjk (talk) 08:24, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Bjjk: The issue with what you are saying is that the sources that I can find on Google suggest nothing wrong with the information presented in the article (with a very quick scan only). In particular, it is not difficult to locate previously written newspaper articles online about Ms. Horvath. You can post your message on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard, but I am not certain the result will be any different?--Cahk (talk) 08:28, 16 April 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Cahk, I think having it written in the wiki page is more prominent than searching for articles or the links at bottom of the page, on Ms Horvath where her previous disclosures about her gender identity at that time are disclosed. thanks for your help. Bjjk Bjjk (talk) 08:40, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

Charlene McMann
Too many eyes apparently on that article to allow much cited information to be deleted. By the time I'd read the new "entry" it had already been restored and page protected. Thanks for the heads-up. Cheers! Aloha27 talk 13:39, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
- Cahk and Aloha72, I saw the mention of me re her attempt to remove material. I did rewrite the article last year to meet WP:V but I was in favor of deletion. Does anyone have any objection to me bringing a new AfD since the last two (a year ago) resulted in a no consensus close? I know her tactics deserve no sympathy but this person never should have had a BLP in the first place.--Milowent • hasspoken 17:42, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) So after a Keep and two N/C's we'll go through the AfD a FOURTH time? Wikipedia policy dictates that notability need not be an ongoing thing. That is to say an individual who was a public figure (in Chicago no less, not some backwater burg), was notable then and subsequently was convicted of taking a great deal of cash on multiple occasions and made LESS notable? Not 100% sure I see the logic there to tell you the truth.
I believe another editor nailed it when they stated "If consensus doesn't go your way, you do NOT get to keep repeating the discussion until it reaches the conclusion you want. There are good reasons why nominations of this kind are speedily closed and I'm not thrilled to see milquetoast sysops pussyfooting around with it. (2) If you write an article about your wife and get Wikipedia to publish it, you do NOT get to remove that article just because it suddenly starts to tell the truth. (3) Our BLP rules prevent us from publishing unsourced negative information about living people. Well-sourced negative information about living people is just fine, and well within scope for Wikipedia." Regards, Aloha27 talk 23:20, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Milowent: Thank you for taking the time to write to both of us. While I can see where you are coming from, I must vehemently object to another AfD. Wikipedia has rules, policies and procedures in place to keep things in order. Ms. McMann (excuse me for not even wanting to count) broke so many of them that NONE of her messages should even be considered. As to my reasoning? Editors will not be as sympathetic this time around with Ms. McMann's attempt removal AFTER a community-imposed site ban. Don't forget, the ban was instituted right after the last AfD closed with no consensus. Also, admin @Oshwah: has provided an alternate avenue for Ms. McMann to pursue if she so desires (not that I think it will work in her favour any better, but alas). I also agree with the passage that @Aloha27: quoted, specifically "you do NOT get to remove that article just because it suddenly starts to tell the truth."--Cahk (talk) 01:58, 19 April 2017 (UTC)
- LOL, you guys have strong opinions! The keep close is from 2011 with only three "votes". The two subsequent "no consensus" closes show that many people started to realize what has always been true -- that this one-time media whore never was notable. The last no consensus close was over a year ago. I'm not in a rush to create a drama-filled AFD, though.--Milowent • hasspoken 12:26, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Milowent: Ms. McMann was provided with another avenue she can pursue that is outside of the (wider) Wikipedia community. It is her decision if she so wishes to, and we shouldn't have to go through another cycle of never ending AfD. --Cahk (talk) 15:46, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

my objective was not to write an authobiography, so I deleted paragraphs in the introductory passage Life Career and reduced its text to the least possible minimum.
I also added a chapter External references quoting criticism and sources expressing other people's opinions about my works.
A proficient appraisal of my works can be found in the university encyclopaedia and its entry by Jiří Severa: Pavel Bělíček (pseud. Martin Kobalt, Josef Vodvaz). Spisovatelé a literatura. Filosofická fakulta University Palackého v Olomouci, 17. 3. 2013.

Remember WP:ATD please
Hi there. When patrolling new pages for speedy deletion, such as Yandex.Market, remember that a) if an admin declined the speedy once (as I did), they usually have considered all possible criteria, not just the one it was tagged as, so re-tagging it under a different criterion is usually not helpful and b) WP:ATD is a policy that applies to speedy deletion as well. If you can turn the page into a redirect to the notable owner of the subject, then this is almost always preferable to speedy deletion. Regards SoWhy 08:03, 5 May 2017 (UTC)
- @SoWhy: I see now a CSD has previously been declined. For some reason it still showed up as unreviewed so I mistakenly treat it as a new page. --Cahk (talk) 08:21, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

New Page Review - Newsletter No.4
Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 816 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!
But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

About TRT World Editing
The editing I'm trying to do is for correcting the wrongly written content for TRT World channel and its position during july 15th. the content that is available for viewers right now is not correct and also not objective. This content has the sole aim to ruin TRT World's reputation. If you had red through the content I was trying to edit, mine was the actual objective one that only includes technical and official information that should be the Wikipedia page for any tv channel. please take a second thought on how the content looks now and how it looked when I edited — Preceding unsigned comment added by Erdembaltaci (talk • contribs) 07:48, 6 June 2017 (UTC)
- @Erdembaltaci: There are numerous issues with your edit. For one, you removed information that was sourced. It may be historic information, but it should not be removed without a good reason. Second, your edits are clearly promotional in nature. "With its experienced staff and a wide perspective, it is a pioneer of positive change in the world by placing people at the centerz of news." and "offers all the functionality of our website in one convenient package, including live streaming and is available for IOS and Android." Finally, based on the edits you made, there is a reasonable doubt as to whether you have a conflict of interest as to the subject matter you edited.--Cahk (talk) 17:26, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

- @Emmanuel chiedozie ejimadu: First of all, you are discouraged from creating an autobiography. Secondly, it's been too long since the deletion for me to remember what your article was about - in any event, it's best to not create a page about yourself unless you have amply evidence to back up claims of notability.--Cahk (talk) 08:51, 16 July 2017 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed you deleted my page that I was in the process of writing. I am still a novice writer and new to Wikipedia but I do think you'll find that I did not violate any of the Rule and Guidelines. I'm not too familiar with the community of writers here but getting a page deleted whilst in the middle of it being written is quite weird.
Don't worry I know it's usually instinctive to just mark pages for deletion but this is my first page and one that I thought is necessary thanks to this man's contributions and donations to cities in northern Italy where I had visited last week. I had tried to search him up on Wikipedia after seeing a statue of him but it came up short and so I jumped on the idea. I would like to finish working on it please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Deadrancher (talk • contribs) 09:11, 23 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Deadrancher: While I nominated the page for deletion, it was an administrator who deleted the page. If you wish to create an article as a draft, you can use your sandbox (next to the talk link on the top right hand side of your page) or through the Wikipedia:Articles for creation. You can also consult with the Wikipedia:Teahouse for more information.--Cahk (talk) 17:09, 23 August 2017 (UTC)
Nooshin Moradi
Dear Cahk hi, This is Vicky, my friend and I have started writing on wiki from 2013 and since that, On that we had no idea how to do it, so we had come back and edit and adit and improve the article which we started with. The user called Bill user:Wtwilson3 was helping us at the time. He was gentle and kind and guided us step by step so we could happily publish our first article which we're always proud of (Credit to wikipedia) Anyway after some years I came back to write another article about a well known person (I know she is not Gucci or Givanchi ) but ofcours she is a great designer with thousands of followers and an her designs are my favorite. After my first post, it was immediately tagged for delectation by the User:Alex Shih with no communication. I checked the wikipedia's 8 rules again and then clicked on the "Contest this speedy deletion" and explained the reason that I believe my article should not be deleted. I was wondering instead of offering some help and support, how my post was marked like an absolutely dangerous thing!! this morning less than 24 hours of my message, I realised that my article has completely removed by Alex Shih with no explanation. I am very disappointed right now and I think this action was unfair, the person didn't offer me any help to edit my mistake (if I had any) and deleted the article which my friend and I spent hours of time to write. Dear Cahk, if you have access to our written article, please can you be kind and have a look at it and let us know if it has mistakes or weakness that we can work on and improve, I really appreciate it. I undrestand that wikipedia has become massive over the last few years, but I still hoping that people working in there stay helpful and supporting as past. There were people like Bill and Ibrahim who helped me a lot with my previous article which I really appreciate.
Best Regards {{{Vicky}}}
- @Boltonart: I see that Alex has responded on your talk page. Unfortunately only administrators can retrieve deleted pages so you may wish to write to Alex about that.--Cahk (talk) 08:34, 24 August 2017 (UTC)

Non-free image use of File:Coat_of_arms_of_Canada.svg
Hi Cahk. File:Coat_of_arms_of_Canada.svg is licensed as non-free content which means that each use of it on Wikipedia needs to satisfy all ten non-free content criteria listed in WP:NFCCP. One of these criteria (more specifically one part of one of these criteria) is WP:NFCC#10c which says that a separate specifc non-free use rationale which clearly shows how each of these ten criteria are satisfied needs to be provide for each use. Furthermore, WP:NFCCE says that it is the burden of those wanting to use or retain non-free content in such a way to provide a required rationale for said use; otherwise, the file may be removed for lacking a rationale. So, if you feel that the non-free use of this file in articles such as Coats of arms of North America and Gallery of country coats of arms is justified, then please provide the required rationale for each use. You should be aware, however, than the use of such logos in image galleries or for individual entries in list articles is pretty much almost never considered policy compliant per WP:NFG/WP:NFLISTS because such usage is considered to be decorative and fails WP:NFCC#1, WP:NFCC#3 and WP:NFCC#8. However, at the very least you need to provide a non-free use rationale so that it can be evaluated and discussed at WP:FFD if necessary. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:54, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

About মুরাদপুর শাহী মসজিদ
Hi Cahk,
This article is about a mosque in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It doesn't appear to be an obvious WP:COPYVIO. It may have some credible claim of significance. As it's not in English, I don't think we can make a WP:A7 speedy decision right away. I've tagged it for translation.
(Looking at what I just wrote, I apologise for wiki-linking things you already know).
Maybe we might try asking about this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Bangladesh?

This is my vikipedia dear Cahk
Hello Dear Cahk
I am Sister Zeph from Pakistan an international award winning girls education activist, I have recently seen that someone wrote so bad about me on vikipedia it said I am a sex worker and all that , which is of course not true but since I am an education activist and a public figure so of course people hate me for teaching the girls in Pakistan.
Therefor i would request you to block that person who made changes on 2nd of October-2017, also change my name from Rifat Arif to sister Zeph and allow me to put accurate information along with all the articles and media publications about me and my work.
Looking forward to hear from you soon with Respect Sister Zeph
- @Sister Zeph: First of all, I am not an administrator so I have no ability to "block" the IP address who vandalized the page. Secondly, even if you are the subject of the article as you claimed (see the autobiography notice I placed on your talk page), you do not "own" the article and as such, cannot dictate what goes on or be removed from the article, provided the information is cited accurately. Finally, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and as such, it is not an appropriate medium to "promote" yourself or the work you do.--Cahk (talk) 07:12, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
Dear Cahk
Thank you very much for your feedback, May I know who is the administrator who can give a warning at least to such people who are putting lives in danger, I have hundreds of interviews, blogs and links about my work on social media, but still someone is describing me in such bad way and there is no one to stop him/ her, i am a girls education activist and if you put some one's information like that without any verification not only mine but the future and life of those girls can be in danger, I have already been attacked by gunmen, and this false information which was given here it is a cyber crime, I think as much hard time you are giving me if you would have given to that person who dared to do it, it would not happen , at least guide me how to delete this page, I should have a right to correct information which about me.
Do think that those parents will send their daughters to my school again who will see such language and words about me ? I am not trying to promoting myself , I am just trying to make my information correct
Looking forward to hear from you soon and a help to save my future and future of hundreds of my students by putting here correct information which can be googled easily With Respect Sister Zeph
- You can consult with User:C.Fred with respect to the administrator tasks/matters.--Cahk (talk) 08:00, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Sister Zeph: It looks like the offending versions of the article have been selectively deleted ("revdeled"), so they should no longer be visible on Wikipedia. The vandalism came from anonymous editors at an IP; there's nothing we can do right now to sanction those users. I have added the page to my watchlist, so if there is any further vandalism, I can help clean it up (to the right version, this time!). Again, I apologize about the confusion with reverting your initial—and entirely appropriate under the circumstances—edits. —C.Fred (talk) 22:15, 16 October 2017 (UTC)

Pertaining to the [Speedy deletion nomination of User:Brendamr sg ]
The page is created to disclose my position on the conflict of interest. I came across the Jimbo Wales user page whereby he provided information on who he is, hence we did the same. If the article is deemed to be of promotional purpose, we are happy to amend or remove information to comply with the Wikipedia guidelines.
Seems that we could not have a chance to amend the content since it was taken down so quickly. I will attempt to create another user page that will very simply state which organisation we are from. If that is insufficient or still deemed as of a promotional nature, we hope you can provide some advice on how we can disclose our conflict of interest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brendamr sg (talk • contribs) 09:45, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Brendamr sg: I can't say I remember exactly what was on your page, but it was considered to be promotional enough that it was deleted and you were given a level 4 warning by an administrator. Simply put, you can't use Wikipedia to promote a business.--Cahk (talk) 07:08, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Helping Others
I'd like to nominate you in helping me, a newish member of this community, to fix the Romeo Lacoste Page situation.
I noticed the original attempt of a page had flagged for deletion but with errors that didn't quite make sense to me at first. After reading what they'd done wrong, I went about it myself to create a page for his particular figure. I did hours worth of research on him and found verified sources to create his page. The page you currently flagged for "speedy deletion" was not at all the same. I personally sat there drafted and cited that page myself. I made sure I followed wikis guidelines etc.
I appreciate your help. What can you do to assist me in getting the page created? TheEditor0624 (talk) 10:25, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
- @TheEditor0624: I have not seen the original article so I can't say if your creation was an improvement or not. However, what I can say is that Wikipedia is not a source for other Wikipedia articles (I note you had a few "sources" that were simply redirecting back to an article). You will have to find additional sources that talks about the article subject, and demonstrate why he is notable enough for a Wikipedia article. Being a tattoo artist to celebrities is not a significant claim. You may have better luck with an administrator who can see deleted edits to tell you more. --Cahk (talk) 16:57, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

why delete???
Hey,
So we just set up the Startup Launchpad site, and before the team even had the chance to review and send contributions for content and links you have it removed? Literally removed within 6-7 hours of posting a first nascent page. Not even give us 24 hours to build it out? Isn't that a bit excessive?
I understand that wikipedia runs the risk of abuse etc unless people admin it regularly, but did you even look at the company? Its a former Nasdaq listed company acquired by Blackstone, the world's largest Private Equity company.
I respectfully request that we get to set up our page, let the team review and submit their recommendations for links etc. Few in the company have wikipedia accounts and they don't know how to create pages. But they will be able to review an existing page and submit content and links.
Regards
The Startup Launchpad Team Mick852 (talk) 11:46, 20 November 2017 (UTC)
- @Mick852: First of all, I am not an administrator so I didn't delete the page. If you want the page reversed, you will need to leave a message with the administrator concerned. Second of all, your continued use of "we" and "team" suggest your account is not used solely by one person. This is against Wikipedia rules, and will likely result in your account being blocked. Finally, the page you created does not indicate why the company is notable - just because it was acquired by Blackstone does not inherently make it notable. You may wish to review the Wikipedia policies as outlined in your talk page. --Cahk (talk) 20:25, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

- Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.
General project update:
- ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
- The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

Thanks for uploading File:Australian Border Force.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:50, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
Hi. I've blanked this and replaced the CSD with the block notice. We don't generally delete user talk pages, especially if there's a block notice (they might want to appeal...). In cases likke this you can blank the page and ask any admin who is around to block the user (quickest) or make a report to WP:UAA. All the best for 2018. New Years new page backlog drive
Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!
We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!
The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.
Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:
- The total number of reviews completed for the month.
- The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.
NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.
