Hello! I've been tasked by PDSA to update the information about our charity accordingly but the edits have been removed. I'm also looking to update our other pages but before I go ahead, can you assist please? The edits I made were entirely factual and to update the tone of voice to accurately reflect PDSA's brand. For example, we should not be referred to as 'the PDSA' as this in incorrect. Can the edits I made please be restored?

I am also the only PDSA employee using this account, as it was made with my personal email address.

Much appreciated, Caitlin :)

Unless you reply to emails sent via Wikipedia, no one knows what email address you use and if it is "business" or "personal"; you may use whatever email address you wish.
If you work for the PDSA, the Terms of Use require you to make a formal paid editing disclosure, please see WP:PAID for instructions. You should also read conflict of interest. You should generally not make direct edits about your organization, but you may propose edits in the form of an edit request(click for instructions) on the article talk page(Talk:People's Dispensary for Sick Animals) detailing changes you feel are needed.
The text you added to the article about your organization was blatant promotion. Wikipedia is not interested in how an organization describes itself(you can do that on your own website and social media) on in describing it as the organization might wish for marketing/branding purposes; Wikipedia is primarily interested in what independent reliable sources choose on their own to say about an organization. If you were to propose those edits as edit requests, they would not be accepted.
I would lastly read WP:BOSS and have your superiors read it too. Feel free to show them this post as well. 331dot (talk) 17:01, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Hello, CaityLam, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Re: Looking for help[edit]

Hey Caitlin. I was the one who reverted your edits. If you will give me a moment, I will examine them more closely so I can give you better feedback.

Hey Caitlin,
The largest problems are in the form of WP:NPOV and WP:Promotion violations. As you stated in your edit summary, you are looking to "reflect current Brand tone of voice". This is not appropriate content for Wikipedia, since we present all articles in a neutral point of view and a neutral tone. This is not to say that you can't change factually incorrect information, (though that is discouraged per Wikipedia:Conflict of interest), just that the tone of encyclopedic content must be maintained.
More alarmingly, you removed sourced and factual information in several spots, which is VERY discouraged, especially by a COI editor. If you have any more questions feel free to reach out. You can also leave a request for edit on the article's talk page, found here.
Thanks, Kingsmasher678 (talk) 16:51, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello :)
I'll review my changes and resubmit a new draft. However, a lot of what I removed is no longer relevant or accurate for the wiki page. When I clicked into a lot of the sources, they cites articles from random publications with no actual evidence of these stories or events (of which we have no recorded record of either, so I didn't think it was in wiki's best interest to have them included either as).
I also believe reflecting PDSA's brand TOV is neutral. Especially when removing incorrect phrasing.
I'll review your feedback in more depth and come back.
Can you confirm how to submit a draft edit for review? CaityLam (talk) 17:03, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have only created one article here so I actually can't help with that. The brand POV is by definition not neutral, because it is YOUR brand. Wikipedia isn't for promotion of ideas, despite the fact that your organization does seem pretty awesome. Make a disclosure of paid editing, and then make edits without a positive or negative tone. If you are wondering about an edit, please feel free ask me a question about it. In fact, if you want to remain unblocked, you should ask someone about most or all edits you make. In realty, it would likely be best to do as WP:BOSS suggests and to follow the ideas and policy given there.
Thanks, Kingsmasher678 (talk) 17:13, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you take issue with content, leave a request on the talk page and someone will look at it and decide if it should be added.
