ER[edit]

Thanks for the invite, I won't be active very much at the moment, until about the end of January. I think the most important thing is to cleanup the main ER article, expand the lead to about three paragraphs, expand other sections etc. It's going to be tough, because we really need more participants, and I've got WP:HORROR to coordinate as well, but I think we can pull it off.--TÆRkast (Communicate) 17:32, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thunderbird userbox[edit]

I, too, wish the Thunderbird logo could be used in the userbox. Unfortunately, this image is non-free (fair use only), and although it may be used in the Mozilla Thunderbird article (with an explicit "non-free media use rationale"), non-free images are absolutely forbidden in other parts of Wikipedia — including talk pages, user pages, and userboxes or other templates. Non-free rationale for File:Chocolate yazoo.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Chocolate yazoo.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Scottish revert[edit]

Just wondering why you reverted my change of Scots to Scots (disambiguation) on the Scottish page. As I understand it there shouldn't be direct links to disambiguation pages in articles, so the standard is to link to Foo (disambiguation). Thank you. Hello there. The page Scots (disambiguation) redirects to Scots. There is no actual page called Scots (disambiguation), and convention is to not link to redirect pages, which is what happened when you made that edit. Since the text in the Scottish article is "Scots" and that is the intended page, there's no reason to send it through a redirect. I'm fairly new to editing Wikipedia so I may be confused. I'm participating in the Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages with links project and the instructions in the first paragraph include the following "Where an article intentionally links to a disambiguation page, that link should be through a "Foo (disambiguation)" redirect, to make it clear that the link is intentional." You're right, there's also WP:FURTHERDAB which says "To link to a disambiguation page (rather than to a page whose topic is a specific meaning), link to the title that includes the text "(disambiguation)", even if that is a redirect—for example, link to the redirect America (disambiguation) rather than the target page at "America". (If the redirect does not yet exist, create it and tag it with {{R to disambiguation page}}.) This helps distinguish accidental links to the disambiguation page from intentional ones." On the other hand I believe these rules, though reasonable, are counterintuitive and not much known among Wikipedians who don't concentrate on dabpages (I was only made aware of this rule after a similar revert of mine). --Thrissel (talk) 09:32, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'd never even heard of this before now. It does seems slightly awkward but I guess convention is convention. SchreiberBike, you may want to revert my revert, but I think if you're adding "(disambiguation)" to Scots, I guess you need to add it to Scotch as well (because that link also goes to a dab page, and it makes sense to have both links follow the same rule). So I think it would look like this:

Deal or No Deal[edit]

Thanks for the latest edits to Deal or No Deal (UK game show) - that article has a bad tendency to be filled with loads of non-notable trivia from people who seem to treat it as a fanpage. It can be a bit disheartening sometimes to remove a section only for someone to add it all back a few days later, hopefully this time it'll all stay removed!
