Disambiguation link notification for May 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2018 Quick-Step Floors season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Elk Grove (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

List of Birds of Belgium[edit]

I see you made a number of changes to the Belgian list. What is/are your sources? The changes I made are found on Avibase.. :. Pvmoutside (talk) 02:03, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I used the list available on the site of the BRBC, the Belgian Rare Bird Committee (brbc.be). This should be considered the official list of birds seen in Belgium. It's structured much the same as the UK list: in A, B, C, D and E categories. For the list of birds in Belgium, I mainly focus on Cat A and B birds. Avibase -should- reflect this list as well, but apparently, there are some errors there (for instance the Red-wattled LApwing - there has been an intriguing sighting of a bird that presumably was also seen in Croatia, the Netherlands and Germany, but that record has not (yet) been accepted).
As for the rarity/accidental status, I'm not aware of any guidelines or rules when this status would apply. I mainly used my knowledge and sightings records from waarnemingen.be to see wether a species is seen frequently every year or not. The skuas for instance or debatable, especially Long-tailed, but as there are very few people sea watching on a regular basis, it's fair to say all species pass through Belgian waters every year. They are only seldom seen because of observer's effect, the short period of the year they pass through and the difficulty in observing them.Calonectris (talk) 06:45, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
