Due to popular demand, I have archived my stuff from December November last year here. Capitalistroadster 02:00, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In the interest of keeping Wikipedia junque-free, I would encourage you to reconsider your keep vote on this article. The topic has vastly superior coverage in the Thanksgiving article, and the most suitable disposal of this title is a delete or a redirect. Denni 05:39, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship again[edit]

He Capitalistroadster. I'm wondering if you have put in some thought of whether or not you would like to be nominated for adminship? Yours, Sjakkalle (Check!) 08:23, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You never answered me with that a couple of weeks ago, either. Yes? No? Maybe? Grutness...wha? 08:48, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations![edit]

Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful. Cheers! -- Cecropia | explains it all ® 19:30, 11 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

ADAM CLAYTON POWELL, 4TH[edit]

Congratulations, I was vote #82. I'm very selective about whom I vote for, therefore I rarely vote. However, when I spot a Wikipedian whom I believe is devoted and dedicated to the project plus, has the potential of becoming a great Admin. then I'm there to give him or her my full support. If I can ever be of any help, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me. Another thing thank you for the fixes made to the article Adam Clayton Powell IV, I wrote the article. I wonder why Mr. Garfield didn't get in touch with me. That's O.K., I'm happy that he got in touch with you. Take care and enjoy your adminship. Tony the Marine 01:57, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Reducing HelpDesk-l junk[edit]

Hi Keith. I think there are ways we can reduce the level of junk coming in on HelpDesk-l, but none of them can I do without adminship. In particular, it would be helpful to change "Contact us" on the left bar to "Contact Wikipedia" or some such title, to avoid being contacted as a university or importer, or anything we use the "You sent this message to ..." boilerplate on.

Further enhancements could be made on the Contact us page, such as a comment on what should not be asked for. (I also think this page should note that all correspondence will be published online, otherwise I fear we are in breach of personal privacy and copyright concerns.)

There's no point us wasting our time if there are ways to reduce the load.

  • Sounds good to me. We should also explain about the reference desk and the help desk as options.

Matt Carroll[edit]

The nationality of the red link was not relevant, I've nothing against Australians, I'd never heard of the man, and I don't want to be party to an RFC on this. If you say the Australian Matt Carroll is notable, I believe you. Just in case I'm not online at the time, I hereby grant you permission to completely withdraw the WP:AFD/Matt Carroll nomination on my behalf, as soon as this link turns blue. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 20:50, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have expanded Erling and I was wondering if you'd consider changing your vote. TJ James deletion[edit]

I am still confused with the rationalle behind some of these deletions. It was my view that singer/songwriter TJ James was noteable for the following reason "For performers outside of mass media traditions: Is frequently covered in publications devoted to a notable sub-culture." (this is why I initally started the article). In TJ's case, the sub-culture is only the entire disability population of Australia, in particular cerebral-palsy, having been covered in the major publications of groups, as well as being feature on TV, radio, and also numberous government publications (state and federal). It seems to me that some of the comments on the Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/TJ_James page were from people who in their ignorance though they were qualified to give an opinion about famous people in Canberra simply because they lived in Canberra, hence giving a distorted impression of the artist's fame.

Paul Smith[edit]

Hi there. I note from Talk:SafeSpeed that Smith has made his usual threat of a libel action (see also [1] and [2]). You should be aware that he and I have a history: he posted for a long time on uk.rec.cycling and uk.transport; his claims got given rather short shrift (not just by me), so he moved his activities to a friendlier place (a forum on his own website). There's no point rehashing it here, you don't want to know the sorts of things his web forum says about me (and neither do I, having seen a sample from the links in my web server logs). - Just zis  Guy, you know? [T]/[C] (W) AfD? 16:28, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Just zis Guy,

I received a follow up from him stating that he did not have the funds to attempt a libel action. He also mentioned that he had had disputes with you on various forums. Capitalistroadster 16:39, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This is correct: he makes claims like "one in three road deaths are due to speed cameras", and I refute them in detail citing sources. He doesn't like that very much :-) But as far as I'm concerned it's all ancient history, since Smith has not trolled visited the cycling newsgroup for at least a year, and I have quite enough to do without going looking for him in his own forums. But the major source of grudge, I think, is an article in Which? where I pointed the journalist to some crucial data showing that Smith's "one in three" claim is absurd. The portrait of Smith painted by this article was less than flattering (yes, you guessed it, he called it libellous!) - Just zis  Guy, you know? [T]/[C] (W) AfD? 21:25, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Far right[edit]

I like your vote, but Wiki guidelines are tricky. A vote to "Delete Far right, and move Far-right to this name." will not accomplish that, since this is a vote for deletion not a vote to merge and most administrators will rule that the vote to delete won, and do nothing to ensure that the page Far-right will be renamed. It's always complicated. The wording should be: "Keep current article but move text from Far-right to this page and merge." Can I entice you to change your vote to that? --Cberlet 13:52, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the =December 3= header but I had to move it up one article. The Red Maple Tree article was hand dated (incorrectly) by the author rather than using four tildes. I'm sure that it was Dec 2 in his time zone but the page should dated in UTC, I've added a note at the end of the question. When you add a date supersection you need to check the Page History (which shows your local time/date) and convert to UTC time/date. The only reason to get this exactly right is so the page archiving will sync with the history archive. It meant a lot to get your support, as I admire your dedicated work on AfD. Cnwb 22:52, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

One downside of your renovation rescue strategy (completely re-writing AFD-nominated articles) is the obligatory preservation of irrelevant entries in the article's history, making it easy for a ha-ha vandal to revert back to the original version which clearly should have been deleted. See this reversion of Anus language. Is there a precedent to allow selective deletion of certain versions in a case like this? — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 20:22, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • John Siegenthaler. Capitalistroadster 22:10, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
    • At the risk of alienating 70 tribesmen, I doubt many Anus speakers have internet access, know that "anus" means "bunghole" in English, or care enough about our culture to confront Jimbo about the vandalism. In short, I meant something much broader, to address content which (if not for your Rescue) would clearly be a {{db-repost}}. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 18:48, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • As I said, I have no problem if my material were to be saved to a temp file, then the file restored to the vandalised version then speedy deleted. A message should be left on the talk file and the temp file moved to the permanent Anus language then the temp file eliminated. Capitalistroadster 21:45, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikifiddler is being merged to Andrew Orlowski[edit]

I'm contacting you because your help is needed and because you recently cast a vote on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wikifiddler. DannyWilde (talkcontribs), who has been actively campaigning in that AfD for the keeping of the article, has in the meantime been repeatedly copying the entire contents of Wikifiddler verbatim into Andrew Orlowski -- each and every time marking it falsely as a minor edit, and with either no edit summary or with a false one such as "rv blanking vandalism". Obviously this is unacceptable; AfD has no meaning if any editor can unilaterally save any text from deletion by simply merging it into a different article. Please assist me in resisting this attempt to circumvent AfD. -- Antaeus Feldspar 23:19, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • I thought someone was missing at AFD recently - yeah, hope everythings OK, Cap - come back soon. Grutness...wha? 04:04, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Folks,

Unfortunately, I spent two and a half weeks in Cooma Hospital with a nasty leg infection caused by a disease called cellulitis followed by a couple of weeks recuperating at my Dad's house and he doesn't have a computer. I start work tomorrow but I am still on antibiotics. Capitalistroadster 02:53, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well get well soon. Your contributions are missed. Here's one discussion to look at, if you are still too crook to look at the whole of AFD: Weirdo magnet (AfD discussion) Uncle G 10:22, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
