September 2021[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Chiswick Chap. I noticed that you recently removed content from The Lay of the Children of Húrin without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Request reason:

I believe my ip address has been blocked from editing wikipedia. I believe the cause is that, from time to time, I have edited on my ipad without logging in. I'd never make serious edits though without logging in, and have to my knowledge made only minor grammar, spelling error, or sentence construction tweaks. I have the wiki guide to appealing blocks, and note, btw, that I am supposed to know what I've done. I'm terribly sorry that has not been done, but I don't know how to look up. Alternatively, perhaps me being on a university campus is causing this - is there a block on George Mason, or dorms within there? I am going include tildes, btw, just in case Captgouda24 (talk) 09:50, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. You forgot to tell us your IP address so we can't investigate your claim. You can find this using WhatIsMyIP. If you don't wish to provide this publicly, you may use WP:UTRS to provide the IP address privately. Yamla (talk) 14:01, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Captgouda24, you shouldn't be affected by that block - it's only blocking anonymous editors, not logged-in editors. GeneralNotability (talk) 23:54, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding a recent edit of mine[edit]

Greetings Captgouda24. I am messaging you about this recent edit where I restored some content which you had removed in good faith. Upon reflection, I realize that I easily could have given you the wrong impression with the edit summary I provided, and I apologize for that! I've thought of the many ways I could have expressed myself more collegially and I want you to know that I truly wish that I had. So, if you will, pardon my error, and let me welcome you here, and thank you for your interest and efforts to improve Wikipedia. I hope that you enjoy editing and that you will be here for a long time. If you have any questions or need help in any way, please feel free to ask on my talk page, anytime. I'll gladly help where I can. Sincerely.--John Cline (talk) 08:29, 3 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
