Welcome![edit]

By the way, good comments on the Derek Smart discussion. Glad to have you aboard on ol' Wikipedia. - (Nuggetboy) (talk) (contribs) 03:44, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with DS page[edit]

In response to this...

Unfortunately, I did not visit the 3000AD bulletin board after your comment. It could be either you overlooked them or they were replaced after you made that comment. Either way, I certainly believe you saw what you did. I can vouch for this comment (I think you said you were the one editing anon then?) because I went to the GameSpy sites and I remember them both being "cancelled".

As for User:Supreme Cmdr's identity, I too share your suspicion. I wouldn't be able to comment on this in any official/legal sense, but I think expressing your suspicions regarding his identity is certainly OK; it's not slander. You asked what to do re: you being made out to be a liar ... I'd just sit tight. No one's said that and you were editing in good faith. You can't help it if a web link changes its content. I responded to this and restored the link in references after putting in the bit about these two games. - (Nuggetboy) (talk) (contribs) 19:57, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"While the article needs some adjustments, changing the actual content seems to be a lost cause."
No, don't say that! Don't second-guess your ideas there. If you feel something should be changed, change it; be bold. If someone disagrees in talk, discuss it. If they disagree by reverting you, still discuss it.
Also, if you have ideas, don't worry if you think I or others may disagree. Go ahead and put them in talk. Or, just edit the article if you feel your edit is of value. I can understand your trepidation, especially with your experience with this article, but I encourage you again to be bold.
My opinion is that Derek Smart needs to be rewritten and a good article is going to be much slimmer. All the "In 2004 DreamCatcher released the game early and in 2005 Smart called them dummies" crap needs to be taken out. The bottom line is that he's a niche developer who is notable simply because of his online behavior. Since it's difficult to actually cite that behavior or any detailed reference to it, the article's gonna be real short.
"If that happens, that would probably make us eligible for the Nobel Peace Prize."
Heh, indeed! - (Nuggetboy) (talk) (contribs) 00:36, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cannot post IP information[edit]

Regarding the recent anon Derek Smart edits, it apparently is not OK to post IP information for users as you did to my talk page. I'm not sure the exact reasons, but I've seen a number of admins rebuff users for this type of sleuthing. Just a heads up and I certainly know what you're trying to get across. - (Nuggetboy) (talk) (contribs) 18:55, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SC stuff[edit]

That's not a threat. He appears to think an admin used their power inappropriately or incompetently, or perhaps both, and he expressed an intention to work toward having that power removed. It could have been phrased less argumentatively (imagine my surprise), but it's not a threat. -- BBlackmoor (talk) • 2007-01-13 04:18Z

my thoughts on the d-s unprotection[edit]

Post on AN/I and RFPP to get the page protected. Revert the changes back to the previous version before the anon edit. Make a mention on the Workshop page, and the Wikipedia Talk:Proposed Decision page (not the actual proposed decision page), and that should be good. Personally, I wouldn't mind poking the arbitrators, but that's just me. Anyway, I'll revert the changes back to before the unprotect. SWATJester On Belay! 19:42, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
