Speedy deletion of Britannia Driving School

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Britannia Driving School, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Bongomatic (talk) 12:46, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Britannia Driving School

[edit]

Hi Carley. There are lots of good and valuable people, organizations, and ideas that are not suited for entries in an encyclopedia--and it appears to me that this is one of them. Training 165,000 students over 15 years doesn't in and of itself appear to make the school notable. Please review Wikiepedia's notability policies. The extent of your contributions to Wikipedia also make be wonder whether you have complied with Wikipedia's [[WP:COI}conflict of interest]] policies. By the way, when you use {{hangon}}, you should add commentary to the article's talk page to indicate why you believe that speedy deletion is not called for, or improve the article right away. You did not do this after adding the {{hangon}} tag, which I assume is one reason that administrator chose to delete the article summarily. I also compared my article with several other schools for instance New England Culinary Institute and many others.

The fact that there are tons of non-notable entries in Wikipedia is not an argument for more of them.

Please let me know what I can do to get this article back up.

All you need to do is recreate it. There's no prohibition on recreating articles that have been speedily deleted, only articles that have been through the AfD process.

If you want citations, I can provide them to you. Also there were some publications on this school in several magazines.

If you intend to recreate the article, I would suggest that you provide citations in keeping with WP:N.

This school also teaches their students eco safety driving which is now a must in UK to pass a driving test.

If this is a government requirement, it hardly seems notable that a driving school should comply with it.

I note you didn't reply on the WP:COI question. Bongomatic (talk) 02:20, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You wrote, with respect to WP:COI that " I dont fall in any of these categories". If you have no relationship with the subject, then there is no COI. However, given your contribution history, that is surprising. It is hard to imagine why an unconnected individual would determine that this unrelated company would be such a crucial article to create, edit, and object to the deletion of. But if that's the case, happy editing. Bongomatic (talk) 03:03, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
