Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, Casa Heneral. Hi, thank you very much for the reply. I do not have any external relationship with the celebrity (John Arcilla). I had the chance to meet him personally and John Arcilla mentioned that his Wikipedia page contained errors and needed updating. He asked for my assistance. Unfortunately, some of the updates and corrections have been constantly changed by another editor. How can I resolve this? That does count as a conflict of interest; generally Wikipedia articles are written without any involvement from the subject. That said, a subject's input us welcome insofar as any person's input is. Yes, you should use the article talk page to discuss your concerns with the article, to arrive at a consensus. As I said at the help desk, ideally information in an article should be sourced to a reliable source. 331dot (talk) 20:38, 18 September 2022 (UTC)

You are free to represent him as long as you disclose that(as you have already) when requesting edits per the edit request procedure on an article talk page. If he prefers to contribute himself, he should first create an account in his name(or as close as possible), then confirm his identity by sending an email to the volunteer response team at info-en@wikimedia.org. He should not- I repeat, not- send copies of identity documents; the volunteers will get back to him about how to confirm his identity. He is then free to use the same edit request process to propose changes to the article about him, preferably sourced to a published reliable source that can be verified. He should also read the autobiography policy.

I emphasize it's best to think of it as an article about him and not "his Wikipedia page". It sounds like a small detail but can make a big difference in mindset. 331dot (talk) 05:42, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

Edits about living people that include new or more updated information must be sourced, ideally with the edit itself. Wikipedia has a strict policy regarding editing about living people, see WP:BLP. I again urge you to use the edit request process on the article talk page, you shouldn't be directly editing about this person due to your conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 08:31, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

I was able to interview and correspond with Mr. Arcilla when I nominated him for a national award (2022 Kampeon ng Wika from the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino), where I documented his works as part of the requirement of the award. Casa Heneral (talk) 08:39, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

Continuing to edit John Arcilla despite conflict of interest

Hello Casa Heneral. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to John Arcilla, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. I see that when you were last told you shouldn't directly edit the article you asked how to make an edit request but didn't get an answer. If you're confirming that you're not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, then you don't need to worry about the paid editing disclosure.

However, claiming you have no personal connection with the actor clearly contradicts what you have said before about your connection to him. You said you were "authorized" by him to update and correct the article about him, and on this page you describe an external connection to him.
