Hi! I was hoping you might help with the photo of The Jealous Girlfriends. There is one photo in the infobox, which is fine. The other photo in the article not only has a watermark on it (that would need removing anyway) but my focus is the right hand part of the picture of Holly Miranda, who doesn't have a photo on her page. Can you slice it so we have a photo of her alone? That would be a big help. Thanks! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 06:23, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Picts/Pictish stones

I just wanted to say that brochs (Jarlshof, Mousa and Clickhimin) are illustrated on the right location as in reality is the case in Scotland. Also: Carnac, Stonehenge, New Grange, Hadrian's Wall, Traprain Law (Votadini) on various locations, etc. The artist used his large library for that. I knew him personally. I thougt it to be a nice idea to mention that in the articles on Wikipedia. My books about the subject are accepted by the Royal Library. Richard Feachem, author of "Prehistoric Scotland", was, when I visited him in Wales, pleased with my book about this subject. When you don't want to change the text, it doesnot matter for me. It is up to you.Romeinsekeizer (talk) 13:36, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

The presence of a book in the Royal library (Koninklijke Bibliotheek?) doesn't give it any authority as a reliable source with regards to this subject. It's a book about a comic book character, and not a history textbook.
I have a first edition of Feachem's book (1966). While I rate his opinion (in reliable sources), he died in 2005, aged 91. I imagine he was quite old when you visited him. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 14:19, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

I visited Richard Feachem (Dick) in 1999, 2000 and 2001 in Wales (Llandre= church in bottomland). Our last contact (on the phone) was in 2003. He was surprised to find Jarslhof, Mousa and Clickhimin (brochs, built by ancestors of the Picts, in Dutch comic books. Just as Hadrian's Wall, New Grange, Stonehenge, Carnac and Traprain Law. He was even more surprised to find the Pictish symbols in it, like crescent and V-rod. I gave him my book about this subject. I still think it is a pity not to mention that in Wikipedia (Picts/Pictish stones. The Royal Library doesnot accept all books. There is a selection. I have "Prehistoric Scotland"(1969 and reprints). I helped him with the 1992-edition. We were both archaeologists and good friends.12:59, 31 January 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Romeinsekeizer (talkcontribs)

It's an interesting story, but I still don't think it's an appropriate topic/source for a historical treatment of the Picts. You clearly have a strong opinion about it... perhaps you should start a discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medieval Scotland and Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard to judge what the general consensus is. Your back!

Welcome back. Would you like to resume mentoring me? I can get started patrolling pages.—cyberpower (Chat)(WP Edits: 520,030,737) 12:54, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi Cyberpower, I'm not "back" as such. I am not intending to spend any significant amount of time on Wikipedia in the foreseeable future, other than the occasional piece of content editing. You're doing well by yourself and probably don't need a mentor. Good luck. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 14:29, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
Would you like me to complete the task of patrolling the pages anyway or should I just leave it?

P.S. At least you're here and editing. Better than being gone.—cyberpower (Chat)(WP Edits: 520,101,058) 20:47, 2 March 2012 (UTC)

I think it would be a useful learning experience for you (which was the intention in the first place). Pay attention to what the closing admins do with your CSD nominations, whether their closing rationale (if they delete) matches your CSD category. My brother!

Hey! Nice to see you! I was hoping you might do something for me? Someone was kind enough to give me a barnstar, (it's on my talk page) and I was hoping you could add it to my user page with the same format you already implemented there. Grateful for your help as always! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 02:25, 3 March 2012 (UTC)

The Graphic Designer's Barnstar
Thanks for appreciating my role in the Wikipedia and besting my discovery of wonderful photos by creating an awe-inspiring tiny fairy icon for my userpage Leahtwosaints (talk) 17:43, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. I'm not sure who the other is who also edited my userpage. I'm not territorial or whatever, but one of the little stars partly obscures that little fairy image. Can you fix that and also add the new one to that row of boxes next to the infoboxes, too? I never told you this, but I think it's one of the most beautiful things I've seen on the Wikipedia, along with your kindness and support in so many ways. Please have a look again at the page when you get the chance. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 17:43, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks Leah... I'm afraid I can't take credit for creating the fairy, although I did put it there. I think User:Bob_the_Wikipedian might be the creator. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 18:16, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
Either way, it's beautiful and all the work you have done for me stands as a testament to your kindness. I'll happily redo the barnstar for you-- if I gave you all the ones you deserve, it would cover your whole talk page, since you became both and outstanding Admin. and my hero! BTW, I found some interesting things for editors to put on their userpages here, Wikipedia:User page design center, though I suspect you may already be aware of it. xoxox --Leahtwosaints (talk) 11:28, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Regarding deletion of page

Regarding deletion of Page R. H. Sankhala
Delete it if its as per the Wikipedia policies to delete it. What I know about notability is that notability of researcher is through his published works and as per my knowledge, Journals etc normally do not cite references of a research paper by a non-notable person. If these are the Wikipedia policies, delete it immediately. And if you are considering to do a discussion, firstly cite all the sources which were added by me and other people, as I fetched them with a lot of hard work. Prakashpanwar (talk) 17:21, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Scientific publications by themselves do not establish notability in the sense it is used in Wikipedia. Please have a read of WP:GNG and WP:ACADEMIC. Sources have be reliable as per WP:RS and have to be about the subject itself in order to establish notability. Please limit further debate to the AFD page. SON..S?

Hi Catfish Jim and the soapdish,

What do the abbreviations mean at the top right of your talk page (S / O / N / S%), if I may ask? ..and this RFA, if I may raise a brow?

Sincerely,

Sam Smolders (talk) 19:37, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Sam, RFAs are requests for adminship, which is the process that established wikipedia editors go through to get administrator tools. The box at the top right is a summary of RFAs that are presently ongoing. S = number of editors who have stated that they support that particular request for adminship, O = oppose, N = neutral. I have that box on my talk page to alert me to RFAs. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 19:55, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Catfish Jim and the soapdish,

I was really curious and now I understand! ... or... at least I think I do. I have many more questions, but I'm sure they can wait many many... many months (or years), for that day that I have a dream about world domination learning more. Thank you for clarifying that.

Sincerely,

Sam Smolders (talk) 03:36, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Ask away, Sam. I'll do my best to answer. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 08:12, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

It is beautiful!!

I love the new userpage!! If I could jump through this monitor, I'd plant at least one big SMOOCH on your forehead! One more question-- is there a way to make it obvious that the links that you and I placed to the page you created with the list of names of people whose photos I uploaded? I don't want the occasional surfer to think that tiny gallery I placed of a few especially nice pics to assume that's all I have provided. I was looking at all the little awards for articles brought to GA or FA status. It's ironic that on every article I worked upon to the same end, all have had their articles de-listed! Examples are Cat Stevens, Natalie Maines, and others. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:37, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

It's very nice and better organized. I think b/c I messed with it also, that a couple things were left out. See here from weeks ago-- it has a section with the blue tab that, when clicked, had my most-used editing tools. Also I had two self-created sandboxes which aren't the one generally displayed at the top of the pages. Have a look here, unless I am mistaken [3]. Last, that little gallery, I'd prefer to have the pictures in rows of four rather than five, if possible. Cam we fix these? Ir is nice.

Hi. I don't have a problem with downgrading the speedy to a PROD, but just wanted to point out that the part I thought made it obvious is actually here. more requests for help

Hi- I wonder- can you set up the auto-archive talk thing on my talk page in Commons the way it is here in Wikipedia? It would be a relief. The other thing- I just noticed that on the GA-ranked article for James Blunt the second photo there still has a watermark that needs to be removed. I can't believe they missed it. Could you take it off, or do you know someone who would be willing to do it? (Damn if I don't need to meet some people with all that photoshop stuff that really are Commons workers!) Thanks so very much from your biggest fan! --Leahtwosaints (talk) 07:17, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
