Alpha Phi Alpha[edit]

In response to your inquiry, the boxes were most definitely there during the FAC process and no one said a thing about them. I have reinserted the boxes into the article with some comments about them within the text of the article. I will likely look at you article tomorrow since it's bed time here. Thank you for asking. Image copyright problem with Image:AKAshield.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AKAshield.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

License tagging for Image:KappaShield.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:KappaShield.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Thanks for update to the Kappa Alpha Psi article[edit]

I appreciate making corrections on the article and especially regarding the section about the Kappa canes. I understand this needs to be neutral. It was in my own words and not needed to be copied and pasted on from another Kappa website so no copyright issue would be brought up. I understand that Wikipedia can be edited by anyone to make corrections. That information was for members of Kappa Alpha Psi who wanted to add additional information and be aware of Wikipedia rules. I'll be Watching[edit]

Thanks for the nice message on my talk page. I'm not an Alpha brother...even though my username might sort of sound like it.

I'm a troubled by the pattern of vandalism on the article. Someone obviously has it out against your frat. You're right in your assessment that the issue is going to balloon when the article is featured on the front page. I've reviewed the contribs of Mikeandike and Bobbydoop. Neither have been active (as logged in users) for a while. Bobbydoop in particular seems to have an extremely inflammatory pattern of edits. I wouldn't be surprised if he is the anonymous AOL user, like you said.

In the short term, leading up to the 25th, we're going to need to watch the article very closely. As you probably already know, always warn the vandal using the WP:TT warnings, particularly {{subst:verror2-n|Alpha Phi Alpha}}, {{subst:verror3}} and {{subst:verror4}}. After 2 or 3 vandal edits, report them to WP:AIV using the templates provided there. I'm going to be watching the article very closely. It's been added to my watchlist. Let me know if you have any further thoughts or need any help from me. Regards, Alphachimp talk 04:45, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

French Alpha Phi Alpha[edit]

Hi, thank you very much for your message. I discover lots of thing on english wikipedia, about american culture, history, etc, and I think it's very interesting to translate this articles, to show to french people history of nations around the world. Thanks again for your encouragement. So long, DeansFA 13:23, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alpha Phi Alpha - discussion and response[edit]

This is a featured article where the text has been review and approved by many wikpedians. The sockpuppet user has vandalized the article for months with the same unsourced information. Slowly over time is about 5 - 7 days, and that doesn't mean its not vandalizing the approved work of contributor and validated by others. a careful review of the history page will show that this user has been warned on several occassions, blocked several times, yet comes back to make the same changes. Ccson 04:27, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No sockpuppet used. Many grammatical errors were fixed. Sections expanded on, or separated into different sections and expanded on. Clarifications were made and more. Please do a comparision of your revert and feel free to discuss any changes. NinjaNubian 04:31, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, as you did to Alpha Phi Alpha, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. NinjaNubian 04:48, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can't be a vandal by restoring the hard work I contributed. The history page of the article will show the admins who the real vandal is; please stand up. Ccson 14:05, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As stated on your user page. Take any issue to the talk section. Just because you contributed doesn't make you any less of a vandal. You should seriosly consider other people's additions to a page. Just because someone changes wording from "swiftly" to "later on" in order to preserve a NPOV doesn't mean that this is vandalism. NinjaNubian 14:08, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alpha Phi Alpha founders[edit]

based from your previous user talk message of

I see you added the profession of the founders. Since the intro is a summary, i moved the professions of the founders to the main article in the last senence of the "Founding" paragraph where they are listed again. The founders names are wikilinked in the intro, so readers who click on the name(s) will gain all this information. Restore if you really want them in the intro. Ccson 19:14, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

I think maybe we should shorten the intro and not name the founders... simply state in some form or mannter that the founders are referred to as the Jewels. We should then have a section called the Founders.. where we give the names and profession of the founders as well as the precurers such as CC Point Dexter.. agreed? Alpha Phi Alpha[edit]

I noticed you added a category to the Alpha Phi Alpha article. There were 2 duplicate categories about a year ago, and it was decided to only use the Category:Alpha Phi Alpha brothers, and no longer the the second version to avoid duplication. You can find a link to the Alpha Phi Alpha category in two places withing the article

  1. Fourth paragraph of the intro paragraph by clicking on the word "men" in the last sentence.
  2. In the Membership section at the very top.

I see you just added this cat today, do you mind just using the Alpha Phi Alpha brothers cat? this follows the naming scheme within wikipedia for all greek organizations, such Category:Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters, Category:Sigma Nu brothers, Category:Kappa Alpha Psi brothers, etc. I removed the notable alpha category since it is a duplicate. I hope this is okay and you understand. Thanks for to attempt to make this article better. Please contact if you have any questions. Ccson 18:26, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BTW-are you a member of Alpha Phi Alpha? Ccson 18:44, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

- No problem. I didn't notice the other category until I was well into population. - Great job on the pages. - Yes. I pledged Delta Eta (Savannah State) in 1991 and am currently a member of Beta Psi Lambda (Omaha, NE) -- Absolon S. Kent 20:45, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article[edit]

I'm sorry that I didn't get back to you several days ago. Unfortunately, this seems like a purely content-oriented dispute. Were the edits obvious vandalism, I could step in and block involved parties, but, as it is, I can't see the opportunity to do so. That said, if the conflict escalates, I'd suggest that you submit it to some form of WP:DR. I can always protect the page if edit warring persists, and I am allowed to hand out blocks for 3RR violations (but I have to be fair and give them to both parties).

Sorry that I can't be much more helpful. I understand how frustrating it can be to see your hard work removed, and vandalism warnings to you are certainly not in order. Have a great night, alphaChimp(talk) 06:23, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Coincidentally, as a point of clarification: 3RR blocks are only given to violating parties, but they are given regardless of the position assumed, or personal opinion of the administrator. I'm sure you know that already, but I just wanted to make sure my comments couldn't be taken out of context sometime down the line :). alphaChimp(talk) 06:28, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe mediation is key since the talk section of alpha phi alpha has really gotten us nowhere. Alpha Chimp is correct this isn't vandalism, but content-oriented dispute. NinjaNubian 08:26, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The mediation should have occurred before you changed the current content. Ccson 11:56, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NinjaNubian[edit]

CCson, I am 150% sure that NinjaNubian is a member of a "competing" fratenity, Kappa Alpha Psi, who has made it his business to vandalize the Alpha Phi Alpha page. Sad indeed, because the claims and bogus links that he insists on putting into the Alpha page are repudiated by his own fraternity. Again, sad.

This information is completely false. I am a contributer to various pages (including Brooklyn Tech and Stuyvesant high schools), and have created 1 pages myself this month about a member of Alpha Phi Alpha. NinjaNubian 15:51, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see that NinjaNubian also created a tag giving the appearance that he was a member of Alpha, just by coincidence, today.

knowledge must also be true. what you are presenting is not, according to the Kappa Alpha Psi, Sigma pi phi, and the subjects of every other peice of "knowledge" that you claim to "present." Regarding reversions[1] made on September 11 2006 to Alpha_Phi_Alpha [edit]

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. Please stop this edit war[edit]

Please stop this edit war. I don't care that those comments passed peer review and FA review. Even in the Encyclopedia Brittanica there are on average three errors per article, and those articles are reviewed to the extreme. If you are so concerned that NN's additions are false, you should post a RfC on his conduct. Together with Bearly541 this would at least fulfill the rules for a RfC that two editors must have tried to resolve the dispute. Edit warring and posting vandalism warning templates on NN's talk page is not productive, but counter productive. Errabee 16:15, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I couldn't file a user conduct RfC, so I filed an article RfC instead. I'll sign in as involved as well, but I will have a neutral stance. Errabee 16:22, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, I'll file the RfC, but you'll have to sign as well. But be warned that your conduct may be scrutinized as well. Errabee 16:24, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

CCson's conduct is a purely whitewashing of history. he chooses to ignore the talk section and feels he can delete as he pleases. NinjaNubian 17:22, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • The problem that I am trying to figure out is if NN is an Alpha, why does he make edits which degrade his organization and bolster Kappa Alpha Psi? I truly think that NN thinks that the page is a joke, even though the organization is 100 years old. NN, everyone sees your unnecessary actions, but only CCson and I choose to correct them, which is pretty sad, because reverting your edits takes valuable time out of our respective schedueles. Alpha Phi Alpha RFC[edit]

I have created a RFC on the talk page for Alpha Phi Alpha. Can you please visit and provide your feedback. The discussion is whetheer Alpha Men were pioneers in the Civil Rights Movement. Ccson 16:58, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ccson, I am not quite sure, because Martin Luther King was an Alpha, Rev. Jesse Jackson is an Omega, and Ralph Alberthy was a Kappa. I do not think that Malcolm X belonged to a fraternity -- he was a member of the Nation of Islam. Thurgood Marshall (first black U.S. Supreme Court judge, Brown v. Board of Education (1954) lawyer) was an Alpha. I am not too sure about W.E.B. DuBois...I think he was an Alpha. If you count women, both Rosa Parks and Coretta Scott King were honorary AKAs. Dorothy Height was a past YMCA president, Delta Sigma Theta president, Barbara Jordan (Delta) was the first black Congressman from the South as well as Shirley Chisolm (Delta), the first black Congresswoman. Was Medgar Evers a part of an NPHC organization? So, I guess if you are counting, there is at least a two to one to one ratio in favor of Alpha. Bearly541 03:01, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

this only makes the current statement stronger. 7 others vs maybe 4 alphas Mykungfu 08:11, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pioneer is not a word that would only pertain to one person or organization. There can be many pioneers for a cause, however; Jackson and Abernathy were "lieutenants" for MLK JR. and so their leadership within the civil rights movement would come after King, and/or at least inspired by King's pioneering. But, this is not my opinion, I'm just writing what the Howard University PBS agency has reported on their website. Ccson 14:22, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

as vernon johns inspired dr king. but this is a stated fact as documented by various references. Mykungfu 21:03, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with filing RfC[edit]

I've been creating a user conduct RfC against NinjaNubian (see Wikipedia:Requests for comment/NinjaNubian); this could really use your help in describing the conflict and providing diffs. But as I said, your behaviour will be scrutinized as well if you do decide to go ahead. Errabee 09:24, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please note NinjaNubian is now using Mykungfu as an additional ID. The Alpha Phi Alpha discussion page notes that changing ID's is this person's MO. Can you help me as far as how I report, etc, without breaking wikiquette? Robotam 13:32, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Be careful with using language like "how convenient" in your RfC, as the offending party will offer that up as bias. Robotam 14:05, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think this will pose a problem, if he deliberately attempts to circumvent a RfC this could be interpreted as gaming the system. However, I am assuming good faith, and this should pose no problem either, because how many id's he has, it it still the same editor. Errabee 14:13, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Robotam 16:08, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

if you can send me a private message with my password i'll be sure to only use ninjanuban . thanks for any assistance. there is no attempt to circumvent anything. that is why i placed on both the ninjanubian and mykungfu messages stating that it is the same person. Mykungfu 21:05, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The RfC for NinjaNubian was removed until we are finished writing it. The page Wikipedia:Requests for comment/NinjaNubian still exists, and can be worked on so the case can be presented. Errabee 22:36, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, I am not an admin. Errabee 17:38, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vaughn Lowery[edit]

you're probably cleaning up right now, but i wanted to note the text below.

--- The fraternity's membership roster includes activist Dick Gregory, Princeton Professor Cornel West, Congressman Charles B. Rangel, former HUD secretary Samuel Pierce, entrepreneur John Johnson, athlete Mike Powell, musician Donny Hathaway, Model vaughn lowery, and former Washington D.C. and New York City Mayors Marion Barry and David Dinkins.[51]

--- Though Vaughn Lowery is admirable (grandson of SCLC and MLK associate Rev. Lowery, model), his name seems out of place with the level of others listed. Andrew Young and Maynard Jackson should be included as well, notwithstanding claims that they were mayors of a "minor" city (Atlanta). And if the vandal is really concerned about the "most famous young alpha[s] in present day" not being included, you have many to choose from, such as the current mayor of Detroit. Robotam 13:09, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I Got A Feeling[edit]

In checking with Ccson , Bearly541 , and KaneKing93 talk pages over the weekend, We are having a problem with Mykungfu, formerly NinjaNubian vandalizing both Alpha Phi Alpha and Kappa Alpha Psi web pages. KaneKing93 and Bearly541 said they are members of Kappa Alpha Psi and Ccson already confirmed membership with Alpha Phi Alpha. Mykungfu is causing this edit war trying to "perpetrate" both fraternities. I suggest we need to block him out of vandalizing these articles and any other article of NPHC organizations. Erayman64

    • I am not a member of Kappa Alpha Psi or Alpha Phi Alpha. Bearly541 05:56, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I also think this notorious vandal should be permanently banned, but I doubt it will ever happen. Peace and love to Ccson (got your message on mytalk page) and all my Greek brothers for holding it down here. Omega Psi Phi[edit]

Hello Ccson,

That change that I made on the Omega Psi Phi page was intentional.

Yes, I remember that edit that I made on Jul 31, but I didn't know which edit you were talking about when you left your first message on my talk page because you didn't mention which edit specifically.

As for the change that I made on Jul 31, I didn't feel that Alpha or Kappa's founding was necessary to mention in the Omega article. For example, the Phi Beta Sigma page doesn't mention that Omega was founded at Howard before Sigma was founded. Nor does the Delta page mention that Omega was founded at Howard before Delta was founded.

I just thought it was irrelevant.
