More than happy to assist[edit]

Hello Cedric, at times you will hear that you may have a conflict of interest or COI. This happens when individuals are personally involved with the topic; however, this does not prevent you from editing an article and you clearly have asked other editors to assist you in an edit, which demonstrates your desire for objectivity.

It would be best to draft the edit you desire, with references, and then edit the article. Being bold is fundamental to being an editor on Wikipedia. If there is a problem with the edit you will see other editors chip in or revert your editors, but they would have to be controversial to appropriately revert them.

If you think your edits are controversial in nature, propose the draft on the talk page and seek comments. I have added the page to my watch list and will be watching for your edits and lend a hand.

LDS related articles are controversial by their very nature and there are editors from across the spectrum. All are welcome to be editors, but we frown on those who announce their objective to adhere to a specific agenda or point of view. Even the perception of such is discouraged. We encourage editors to edit in a neutral manner always. Neutrality is not an absence of position, but one that is balanced and never places Wikipedia in the position of taking a side.

I would advise just making the edit first and look to see how others respond. If you do not know how to reference a statement, check out the link I provided and then ask a question. Cheers. --StormRider 20:49, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Allow me to cordially disagree with StormRider on the issue of editing the article directly. The conflict of interest guidelines strongly encourage, if not require, that an editor with a conflict of interest propose changes on an article's talk page, and let other editors without the COI to decide whether/how to make them. I recommend that you refrain from modifying the article at all yourself, but please do make use of the talk page. Best wishes, alanyst /talk/ 21:00, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
