Welcome[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. You have made no edits to Wikipedia, why do you want to write about this company? It's difficult even for experienced editors to write an acceptable company article, and I'd suggest you learn the ropes editing existing articles instead.

If you have a conflict of interest, you must declare it. If you work directly or indirectly for an organisation, or otherwise are acting on its behalf, you are very strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. If you are paid directly or indirectly by the organisation you are writing about, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Celia.goldfarb. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Celia.goldfarb|employer=Dcode|article=Dcode}}. If you are being compensated, please provide the required disclosure. Note that editing with a COI is discouraged, but permitted as long as it is declared. Concealing a COI can lead to a block. Please do not edit further until you respond to this message.

  • If you have any connection with blocked editor Dcodethegov, you must tell us what it is'

Also read the following regarding writing an article:

  • you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation or company, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, logs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the company or organisation claims or interviewing its management. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls
  • The notability guidelines for organisations and companies have been updated. The primary criteria has five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:
  1. significant coverage in
  2. independent,
  3. multiple,
  4. reliable,
  5. secondary sources.
Note that an individual source must meet all four criteria to be counted towards notability.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews.
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient.

Before attempting to write an article, please make sure that the topic meets the notability criteria linked above, and check that you can find independent third party sources. Also read Your first article. You must also reply to the COI request above. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:24, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I want to write about Dcode because it is a company that people often Google to learn more about so I thought this would be a good source to provide information. While I have a relationship with the company Dcode (I have had an internship with the company), which I am willing to disclose to the fullest, the article I have drafted for Wikipedia is objective and contains several sources that verify the information in the article. While I know it is discouraged to write about a company with which you have a relationship, I have ensured that all information can be taken from independent, third-party sources. Because you have an association with the company you must make the formal declaration on your talk page as described above before you do anything else. You must also answer the question regarding any connection with

Dcodethegov

I can only discourage you, you are entitled to attempt an article. Write it as a draft initially, take your time and make sure that you understand our rules. If you are seen to be seriously non-compliant, it is likely that an admin will block you Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:53, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I will make a formal declaration as a part of creating the draft and article. Dcodethegov is a company account that I have logged into (the company did not realize all accounts must be personal accounts), but once I saw that it was blocked I used my personal account instead. Is there a way to get a draft reviewed to see if it is noncompliant before getting blocked? I believe that the draft that I have written (I have not put it into Wikipedia yet, but have it in a separate document) complies, but before I submit and risk getting blocked, I would prefer to receive feedback about the compliance so that I may make edits as necessary. Thank you for your help Celia.goldfarb (talk) 15:01, 23 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Circling back to this - am I cleared to start editing the Dcode page again? Thank you Celia.goldfarb (talk) 13:34, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
