Celtic Radio

[edit]

Celtic Radio is a not-for-profit internet radio station that was created in 2001 to support independent artists and musicians that perform Celtic Music. In the United States of America, the genre of Celtic Music is not mainstreamed into our music culture. For example, there are no dedicated AM/FM or satellite music channels that support Celtic Music 24 hours a day. This is contrary to the grassroots support that Celtic Music has gained over the years through the following prevailing cultural events:

Music Channels

[edit]

There are currently three Celtic Music channels available through Celtic Radio. All three channels feature the voice of Highlander Radio - Rebecca Gethings - who is an English actress of television, theatre, radio and cinema.

Highlander Radio is an award winning channel broadcasting a wide range of Celtic Music 24 hours a day.

Celtic Moon is an exquisite mix of soft Irish, Scottish & Celtic Music.

Celt-Rock-Radio is a rowdy mix of hard rocking Celtic music from the Pubs of America, Canada, Ireland and Scotland.

Community

[edit]

At the heart of Celtic Radio is a listener community of over 15,000 members which helps to support the many independent artists and musicians by attending their concerts and listening to their music. Encouragement is given to the members of Celtic Radio to support and continue this music genre. Members of Celtic Radio can communicate with other members of Celtic Radio through a member profile and through a private message system. Members help in ranking, rating and requesting music through [CelticRadio.net: http://www.celticradio.net] which directly effects the song rotation and weighting of the broadcast through a live-time radio database. This results is a community driven broadcast of music that members have created and influenced through their music selections.

Internet Radio

[edit]

Celtic Radio was the first independent internet radio station to support, cultivate and mainstream Celtic Music throughout the United States. Through a unique member driven community website and by harnessing the latest technologies for Internet Radio, Celtic Radio is driving to make Celtic Music a mainstream music genre in the United States of America.
