Malik Shabazz arbitration case

I am sending this to users involved in an arbitration case. I am not aware of too many details of the case. I also don't know how these cases work.

However I noticed that Malik Shabazz also violates Sockpuppeting rules.

He has two users: Malik Shabazz and User:MShabazz

He claims that User:MShabazz is a WP:DOPPELGANGER account.

However, not only does he use the account for editing (which violates the WP:DOPPELGANGER policy -), he also uses the account together with his Malik Shabazz account for edit warring. For example when he was harassing me and laughing at me for my mistake of editing another user's talk page he [[1]]

  • First he undid my edit with user Malik Shabazz [2]
  • Then He used his sockpupet user MShabazz to undo my edit the second time: [3]

(Then he harassed me and laughed at me and wrote: "PS: I'm sorry it took you half an hour to figure out why I gave VanEman a barnstar more than a year ago. I hope your reading skills improve." )

Is there anything that could be done now? Caseeart (talk) 05:37, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Caseeart – I would suggest you to launch an investigation against both usernames at WP:SPI and then a Checkuser will determine whether the both usernames are used by same individual or not. Even if he claims that he uses WP:DOPPELGANGER, Since he used both accounts abusively that he was clearly involved in vandalism then he may not become entitled for use of WP:DOPPELGANGER account. At the moment, Ceradon doesn't have administrative tools in this account, you may need to seek someone's help at Checkuser.  MONARCH Talk to me 00:12, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
If you check the history of MShabazz it has been a declared alternate account since at least 2009. No point running a check for sockpuppetry or indeed accusing someone of using an undeclared alternate account when it was clearly a declared one. ϢereSpielChequers 13:51, 23 September 2015 (UTC)
WereSpielChequers, I guess you're right, That user Malik Shabazz was previously served as an administrator and his mop was removed due to misuse of administrative tools. Now it appears he is using both accounts to engage in vandalising the articles like what Caseeart asserted.  MONARCH Talk to me 00:40, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
No comment as to why he is no longer an administrator, but I can understand why he has a separate account to edit from a smartphone - having tried editing from a smartphone you really don't want extra buttons such as Rollback on such a device. Vandalism is a serious accusation that you'd need to strike or supply a diff for, at the moment there are only two difs [4] [5] of his on this page and both look good to me. ϢereSpielChequers 05:50, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
WereSpielChequers To me it doesn't look good. He reverted entire message left by Caseeart on VanEman's talk page. I think you should deal with this issue as i don't have administrative powers to deal with these kind of issues, I only got a “rollbacker” option that might not help to resolve this kind of issue. Maybe Caseeart or you should report this to WP:ANI and seek the opinion(s) from other sysops. That would be the best place to discuss this issue. As of now Malik Shabazz and MShabazz have declared the actual relationship between two accounts, but i suspect both accounts are used for engage in vandalism (i.e reverting edits and harassing Caseeart) is a serious violation of policies and guidelines.  MONARCH Talk to me 09:22, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

@Alpha Monarch: What facts lie behind your repeated assertions that I engage in vandalism? You were told that unfounded allegations of vandalism should be struck, and yet you persist. Please read and try to understand WP:VANDALISM (and WP:ASPERSIONS). Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 05:41, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

Malik Shabazz You have harrased that user by removing the contents from VanEman's talk page, This clearly highlights the sentence of “VANDALISM”. Where you removed this, and then you used the alternative account to remove this. This is serious violation of use of abusing multiple accounts. You have also been accused of misusing the administrator tools and got your tools removed. I don't think you're a honest editor.  MONARCH Talk to me 06:08, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
Your inability to understand what you read is frightening. I have never harassed Caseeart (and how is my removal of his "gravedancing" from another editor's Talk page harassment or vandalism, anyway?), nor have I ever abused multiple accounts. You really should learn how to read a page's edit history as well as WP:VANDALISM and WP:ASPERSIONS. — MShabazz Talk/Stalk 21:30, 26 September 2015 (UTC)

Lorenzo Belenguer

LondonArt2010 is asking me about revisiting the possibility of Lorenzo Belenguer. He presented a lot of links. I think some of them may be unhelpful, but I notice some Spanish newspapers did write articles with Belenguer as the main subject (Example: "Lorenzo Belenguer conquista Londres" by Las Provincias). Do you know a Spanish editor and/or an editor interested art and/or biography articles who is willing to take a closer look? (I can post the specific article if need be). I would like for another party unfamiliar with the case to check if this subject meets WP:GNG and/or biography criteria.

If this subject does meet notability criteria I think another user (someone other than LondonArt2010) should write the article, maybe through an articles for creation process. WhisperToMe (talk) 22:43, 27 October 2015 (UTC)

Vonnegut

I reverted your removal of the self-assessment section, which you stated was because "Wikipedia uses reliable, third-party sources, therefore Vonnegut's on assessment of his work is largely irrelevant." Per Wikipedia:Identifying_reliable_sources, self-assessment (and more generally, self-published sources) is allowed provided

  • The material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim.
  • It does not involve claims about third parties (such as people, organizations, or other entities).
  • It does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject.
  • There is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity.
  • The article is not based primarily on such sources.

I believe that this section meets all of these requirements. If you disagree, we should discuss and/or get a third party to serve as arbiter.

This arbitration case has been closed and the final decision is available at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:

  1. All anonymous IP editors and accounts with less than 500 edits and 30 days tenure are prohibited from editing any page that could be reasonably construed as being related to the Arab-Israeli conflict. This prohibition may be enforced by reverts, page protections, blocks, the use of Pending Changes, and appropriate edit filters.
  2. Uninvolved administrators are encouraged to monitor the articles covered by discretionary sanctions in the original Palestine-Israel case to ensure compliance. To assist in this, administrators are reminded that:
  • Accounts with a clear shared agenda may be blocked if they violate the sockpuppetry policy or other applicable policy;
  • Accounts whose primary purpose is disruption, violating the policy on biographies of living persons, or making personal attacks may be blocked indefinitely;
  • There are special provisions in place to deal with editors who violate the BLP policy;
  • Administrators may act on clear BLP violations with page protections, blocks, or warnings even if they have edited the article themselves or are otherwise involved;
  • Discretionary sanctions permit full and semi-page protections, including use of pending changes where warranted, and – once an editor has become aware of sanctions for the topic – any other appropriate remedy may be issued without further warning.
For the Arbitration Committee, Miniapolis 16:30, 22 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. • I probably can't participate in a FAC because I wanna work on my own very long-term project, but I fixed some things for you, and I'll chip in more in the future. You have many books that are not {{cite book}}. I find this userbox to be extremely useful: {{User:Yunshui/Userbox citeconverter}}. It's the bottom-most ubox on my upage. If you just copy the book info from the Stanton page and search for it on Google books, you can copy/paste the url into the ubox and get a pretty {{cite book}}. The very last field is usually a page range; I usually delete that and replace it with |ref=harv. Cheers!   Lingzhi ♦ (talk) 07:24, 26 May 2016 (UTC)

Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

For the Milhist co-ordinators. Regards, AustralianRupert (talk) & MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 07:24, 26 February 2017 (UTC)
