Edits at KISD

[edit]

Hello! I am glad that you are editing the Katy ISD article. Here are a few points, though:

  • 1. Do not remove the location information (I.E. what city or county a school is located) unless there is a consensus, established on the talk page, that such information is unnecessary.
  • 2. The History section should be rewritten into prose sometime.
  • 3. The Sendelbach information should not be removed. The sources I have are Wikipedia:Verifiable. WhisperToMe 22:46, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging for Image:Navasotarattlers.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Navasotarattlers.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

License tagging for Image:Fangs.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Fangs.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:JCW3.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. MECUtalk 18:53, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading Image:Carver.jpg. I have removed the link to the Carver Learning Center (which didn't appear to have anything to do with the image) and the claim of PD (which seems dubious at best) from this image's page. Please replace these with appropriate descriptions and licensing info or the image will be removed from Wikipedia. Dyfsunctional 20:35, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Katytigers.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Katytigers.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:52, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:1900school.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:1900school.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Katy ISD

[edit]

Okay, I did not intend on reverting most of the history section. I intended on restoring most of the history section to the way it was.

However, the Sendelbach thing is deliberate, CHarris. There is no reason to remove the cited sourced I have for Sendelbach. I would advise leaving the Sendelbach section alone after I edit that. WhisperToMe 03:27, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I still do not feel that the amount of text I put has Wikipedia:Undue weight. On the contrary, I feel that the text that I put adequately explains what happened. If you feel that the text has undue weight, contact Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools and ask them to look at the page. WhisperToMe 06:44, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I posted it. I have a feeling that my version will be preferred because it establishes a proper context and I feel it is Wikipedia:NPOV. I have been an admin here since 2003, so I have a sense of what is preferred on here. WhisperToMe 06:56, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would like for you to see this: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Schools#Katy_ISD_and_the_mentioning_of_a_punishment_case_that_garners_international_attention - The notable aspect for the case is that it became a "cause celebre" for what is considered to be excessive discipline. The new paragraph was approved by other editors. WhisperToMe 20:51, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Read it again, Ch911. You only saw the first few. I replied to those, and they replied back. WhisperToMe 04:11, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you haven't found them..

"Now that you've published some viable links it's easier to make sense of the story! It does look as though the story does merit inclusion after all but it needs explaining in plain English as so many of the terms used are not understandable to an international readership. It would be best to use the terms which Scribble Monkey has suggested and perhaps use the term disciplinary school rather than alternative school to make the punishment clearer. Dahliarose 15:51, 27 September 2007 (UTC)"

"With the additional sources, I think the event has become a little more notable. I approve of the revised paragraph, not that you needed my approval. ;) My concern was that many U.S. schools seem to have briefly become the center of nationwide zero tolerance style debates, including Naaman Forest High School (which has no mention of a 1999-2000~ incident) and L. D. Bell High School (Hurst, Texas) (which does mention a 2002 incident)...I think time will tell / it's yet to be decided whether these types of events warrant inclusion, or what the threshold of historical notability for inclusion will be. --Hebisddave 16:50, 27 September 2007 (UTC)"

What was meant was that the story is notable in that the media attention forced the district to reverse the punishment. WhisperToMe 04:13, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I already gave you my response. My response is that we have a Wikipedia:Consensus to use the altered version. I suggest that you sit back and let the text stay. If you really oppose it, you can talk on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Schools#Katy_ISD_and_the_mentioning_of_a_punishment_case_that_garners_international_attention, but I doubt much will come of it.

"Respectfully, the reason I am rather concerned is that this site is used as a conclusive point of research on the district history (one of which I have spent a considerable amount of time over many months, compiling from different sources and newspapers)."

It is 100% okay to use press sources as "conclusive point"s of research. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources.

Would you be so kind as to attribute the said sources in the text? Wikipedia:Cite your sources comes to mind. WhisperToMe 14:29, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Katy ISD.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Katy ISD.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:16, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. The file File:MKT.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused file with no educational purpose. Also BLP considerations involved as it involves minor children it what appears to be a private setting.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
