Newbie questions[edit]

I really liked your most excellent question, great attitude about editing Wikipedia and working with other editors to find consensus. First I would recommend creating a "sandbox" off your user page or talk page to place the a new proposed version of an article (if it's a major re-write or complete replacement). Instructions on doing that can be found here: How do I create a user subpage. Then create a link from the article's talk page to your version and ask for comments. That's a good first step. Since you copied the entire article onto the talk page the "Table of Contents" or TOC was also copied, thus replacing the one on the talk page. You can read more about that here: Table of contents. To be honest, it's difficult to make major changes to contentious articles (which is basically any of the paranormal articles). The disputes between the so-called "skeptics" and "believers" can get very heated. In most cases, it's not worth the time to do a whole rewrite of a paranormal article, it's better to make small changes slowly over time, negotiating with any disputing editors.
