Deletion discussion about Iqbal Al Asaad
[edit]Hello, Chavezerick,
I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Iqbal Al Asaad should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Iqbal Al Asaad .
If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
Thanks,

Deletion discussion
[edit]Hi, I wanted to give an explanation for why the article was nominated for deletion. Ultimately there are a few factors in play, but the biggest issue was one of notability. The article you created only had one source, which isn't enough to show notability in this situation. Most articles need at least 3-5 sources to show a good depth of coverage and some may need even more. Sourcing is definitely needed when it comes to living people, as unsourced content or content that looks to be unsourced can be removed from an article.
I have a few other notes as well:
- Be sure to avoid "buzzwords" like "passion", as these are seen as inherently promotional on Wikipedia. A better way to write something may be "Al Asaad chose to become a physician after witnessing conditions in refugee camps."
- It actually looks like this person already has an article on Wikipedia under their full name, Iqbal Mahmoud Al Assad. Since your page was the most recently created, odds are that your page will be redirected to that entry.
- It looks like there are more sources on the Arabic Wikipedia entry, so you may want to use them to expand the article. If you don't read Arabic you can use a translation program - just be careful about grammar. You may want to seek help at WP:LEBANON, a WikiProject devoted to Lebanon related topics, as it's very likely that there will be someone there who can help translate or search for sourcing in Arabic.
Hope this helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:59, 6 October 2017 (UTC)
