Orphaned fair use image (Image:Everybodyreadstheherald.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Everybodyreadstheherald.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. -- SteinbDJ · talk · contributions 18:32, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Warning of the IP address 84.211.132.125

[edit]

Why was this user warned. The only edit he has made on the page you specified was this diff, which is in no way vandalism. --TeckWiz ParlateContribs@ 00:11, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I must have made a mistake. In trying to think back to the incident, I must have seen this page — http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Super_Bowl_XLI&diff=104458666&oldid=104449753 — and assumed it was 84.211... which would make it my fault completely. Chaz! 01:03, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:ClintonBrown.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:ClintonBrown.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet very basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Image:ClintonBrown.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. IvoShandor 07:02, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio

[edit]

Brown Daily Herald webpage says they have "all rights reserved." They seem to own the copyrights here. One of the files is just a scan from the paper, a clear copyvio, there is no possible way the Brown Daily Herald releases their newspaper under CC. You can contest this if you'd like, but if you decide to I will have to IfD all four of these. IvoShandor 07:02, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not upload copyrighted images from the Brown Daily Herald

[edit]

I examined the web site of the Brown Daily Herald, and all pages bear the footer, "Copyright 2007 by The Brown Daily Herald, Inc. All rights reserved." I looked at several contact and information pages, and found nothing that indicated that any content of the newspaper, including images, was released under a Creative Commons license. We cannot use this content in Wikipedia. I deleted the four images as copyright violations under the criteria for speedy deletion.

Please do not upload any further copyrighted material from the Herald or other publications except with express release of the material under an accceptable free license by a person authorized to do so, or under Wikipedia's fair use policy. Continuing to knowingly upload copyrighted material will lead to your being blocked from editing.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my user talk page. Thank you, --MCB 22:49, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Jay firestone.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Jay firestone.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:10, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Firestoneskyvision.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Firestoneskyvision.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The Sunshine Man 20:21, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box.
