Hello!

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for your notes on the talk page for the Nair article. As promised there, I'll try to explain things a little more for you. I have added a standard "welcome" message above, which contains links to a LOT of policies and guidelines. Do not try to read them all at once otherwise you'll probably become muddled.

All new users make errors, and some of us who have been around for quite a while do also. Like me! So, the basic idea is to read up in nice-sized chunks, starting with the more important stuff. So, we'll start with the query you raised: what sources are ok for Wikipedia articles.

The project works on the basis that all significant statements should be verifiable using reliable sources. If you want to read those two blue-linked pages as a starting point, I'll be happy to answer any queries that you may have. I'll add this talk page to my watchlist, so that if you put a comment or question here I should see it & can respond. I am in the UK, so there are probably time differences between us, but no worries. - Sitush (talk) 03:59, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I meant to add ... if I were you then I would not bother clicking the blue links in the two pages I mention above. Just read the pages themselves for now. This is for the same reason as before, ie: you'll just get muddled (or fed up, or both). - Sitush (talk) 04:13, 6 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

SPI

[edit]

For someone who is so new to Wikipedia, and who admitted to being that, you are demonstrating a remarkably high ability in the use of mark-up, policies etc. I should warn you that there have been suggestions that I should open up a sockpuppet investigation. I am not doing so at present but will be keeping my eye on things. It is slightly worrying, and there are two or three people who have said so. They may choose to open the SPI themselves, of course.

Just a "heads up", in case you have in fact been using more than one account. I would stop now if that is true. - Sitush (talk) 11:43, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have started editing Wikipedia more than 10 days back and it is quite enough for a person to understand about wikipedia markup and policies. You can start any kind of investigation if you have a lot of free time and nothing else to do in life, but what I can see that your real problem is you want to remain the sole contributor to the article Nair, which is unfortunately not possible and let me remind you something I learned from the links you provided above in this talk page that "ANYONE can edit Wikipedia." -CheKON 12:28, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are referring to WP:OWN. You are incorrect but it is your right to hold that opinion. You should note that both one other major contributor and an admin have also expressed some concerns. A few IP editors have weighed in as well. You recent additions at Nair were niggly: the Day quote was vague, mixing up BRahmins & Nairs in a way that made it unclear who could or could not touch whom; fully quoting Sadasivan runs against the consensus that the Ayyappan paragraph was adequate (no need to stir more trouble); the photo did not have consensus as you claimed. It is worrying but, as I say,if you are in fact not editing from multiple accounts then you have nothing to worry about. - Sitush (talk) 12:35, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, the comment on your user page does not assist matters. It does suggest that you might possible have a conflict of interest. It is certainly a bold, potentially inflammatory statement. - Sitush (talk) 12:37, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure that, for example, you have not previously edited as KondottySultan? - Sitush (talk) 14:10, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am not going to answer all of your questions as most of them seem bit childish. If you have any genuine concern, please put it here. If you don't have any, please stay away from messing up my talk page. Thanks. --CheKON 14:40, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's ok. I will open a sockpuppet investigation later, after having a chat with other concerned contributors. If you are not connected then there is no problem; if you are connected then you will be blocked from editing. - Sitush (talk) 16:26, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bot warning

[edit]

I think that the warning was because you used all caps, which is a trait used by vandals. If you avoid all capitals then you s/b ok. - Sitush (talk) 18:20, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your name has been mentioned in connection with a sockpuppetry case. Please refer to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/KondottySultan for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to cases before editing the evidence page. Sitush (talk) 13:31, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest

[edit]

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.
