Information icon Hello, NASSWikiEdits. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article North American Spine Society, you may have a conflict of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 19:06, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Username issues

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "NASSWikiEdits", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because you appear to be representing the North American Spine Society. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you.  Velella  Velella Talk   19:16, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, NASSWikiEdits, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:33, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Changing username

[edit]

Let me know if you have any problems navigating the change username pages, they're not too friendly. Sorry about this. henriktalk 19:54, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Great, your changing username request looks good, hopefully that bit of nonsense will be out of the way soon. Meanwhile, I've rephrased much of North American Spine Society to strive towards the neutral, almost disinterested tone we try to strive towards in this old encyclopedia. I hope you don't mind the rephrasing. It's pretty hard to find the right note when writing about your employer, so we ask you to be careful. Another thing we like to have is third party sources; other reliable sources (newspapers, journals, etc) not directly affiliated with NASS but writing about it. I found one or two NYT articles briefly mentioning your society, got any more in store?
Feel free to reply here, or on my talk page as you prefer. I'll see it either way. :) henriktalk 20:31, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
