Photos for James Chico Hernandez article

Chico,

Do you have, or know where I could find, a photo or two for the article. Not just any photos though - these must be photos you own that you are happy to license into the public domain (i.e. so that anyone can copy and use them, like you'd be saying "I don't own these anymore, they are everyone's") or on a very loose license that would allow people to copy and change it as long as they recognise that they're yours (the most relevant one is explained here). I'd need at least one photo that is at least head-and-shoulders and recent (doesn't need to be in sporting outfit) and ideally one that is in your sports outfit (possibly from a competition - it doesn't need to be recent).

These would need to be in .jpg format and you would need to be able to e-mail them to me.

Burbank residents

I noticed you added the list of notable Reavis High School alumni to the Burbank, Illinois page under notable residents, but I've deleted it there; please note that some Reavis students live in unincorporated areas of Cook County, so it's not clear that they were Burbank residents. I wasn't the one who created the original Chico Hernandez redirect to James Chico Hernandez. I assumed there was a reason it redirected there. I have opened a discussion on the talkpage of this article regarding the addition of alumni who do not meet the general notability requirements, and the guidelines established by consensus regarding the addition of alumni to school articles. Keep in mind: calling an alum "non-notable" is not a judgement on the individal, but rather an application of the notability policy. You might want to check those out. Please do not attack other editors, as you did at James Chico Hernandez. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you. Further, a casual glance at your talk page demonstrates that there have been questions and concerns about your editing of this article for years now. Not only are some answers now required, but careful scrutiny will take place, and removal of spurious, irrelevant or trivial citations is required by WP:BLP as well as by other pertinent guidelines and policies. • And that being said ... c'mon. You've been on Wikipedia for several years now. You have to know, by now, that when you put a citation into an article, that citation must support the statement being cited. You cannot, for instance, support a statement that Hernandez was recruited by coach Gordon Anderson with a citation giving nothing more than a short bio of Anderson; that piece must specifically say that Hernandez was recruited by Anderson. Well I hope you are happy, you have destroyed many years of research and hard work. Many Years of Wrestling and Sports accomplishments are erased by your scrutiny as it never happened! I hope you can repair the damage you have done. Just because a reference does not support a statement or passage does not give you the right to eradicate the entire article / passages. By your rational this article has no nobility and why it should be on WIKIPEDIA when it has been supported in the past by many Wiki’s for many years. Also by your rational, Hernandez did not win a scholarship, Wrestle in College, win any Wrestling Tournaments and other Accomplishments I have worked many years on this project and it is people like you who do not contribute but only tear things apart with putting your toys back or trying to figure out how to make things better! Have fun tearing the rest of it up too. I wonder if any other WIKI’s will attempt to remedy this one way street of destruction cause you’re your lack of vision.

Please refer to WP:BLP, one the most important policies at Wikipedia, on why that is the case. You cannot add unreferenced material to BLPs. Frankly, I have no idea whether Hernandez wrestled in college, won any scholarships or tournaments or the like. The way we do have an idea about these things is if there are reliable sources saying so. You would be much better off turning your attention to ensuring that any statement you make is properly referenced than to complain that you are hard done by in being asked to follow Wikipedia policies and guidelines. This article has been up for years and much of my hard work is going down the drain fast. There have been many other Wiki' thru the years that have contributed much for the improvement of this article / project. Now all it seems to me that you and a few others just want to tear down instead of improving or helping with the project by your superior "Wiki Knowledge". If these attacks continue instead of working with me to make this article the best it can be, then I will abort this project and others that I have contributed thru the years. I have asked for years for other “Wiki's Help” for the improvement of this project but it seems like you must have to process a PhD in English Usage and Grammar as well as a advance degree in Computer Knowledge of Wiki. Instead of Making Wiki a nice and wonderful place you are making it impossible place for a friendly work environment not user friendly at all.

Again, please see WP:BLP, where right off the bat, this preeminent Wikipedia policy states that "contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion". This is not a question of being unfriendly, or having some sort of superior knowledge. This is about a simple policy violation. WP:BLP is one of the most important policies on Wikipedia, because when it is not followed, Wikipedia is left unprotected from legal action, something that could ultimately not only destroy all of the hard work you have done on this article, but all of the hard work every user has done on every article. Once this unsourced material is removed, the article can be properly restored using legitimate WP:RSs. In the meantime, however, it is extremely important that this article rid its BLP violations, which unfortunately, requires the deletion of much content, true or not. – Nurmsook! ^talk... 13:47, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

And as much to the point, there is no reason to remove pertinent information that is not contentious, whether or not it is sourced. Just about everyone in America's gone to high school somewhere, for instance, so no one's likely to challenge where Herhandez went to high school, and no reason to disbelieve that he went to Reavis High. Nor is it appropriate to delete pertinent information that is - or can be - sourced, such as the fact that Hernandez is a member of the UMPI Hall of Fame (however much that the link in the article is a dead one). He did play at Chicago State with Bob Janacyk. Billy and Harvey Bennett would also mention that he was a Counselor at their Hockey School and Played on the New England Men’s Hockey Championship. Hernandez had a very good Ice Hockey career but probably was discriminated a lot due to no Spanish People or Hockey Players playing at the Higher Level. You’re referencing to a dead link? Many Links come and go. A link is only as good as someone paying the bill for one, meaning if it was there and then not there you know as well as I do that these facts sources are not written in stone or God’s word! Did they happen?

If you have only research a little bit of your so called Wiki Knowledge Senior Editor, , there are many Newspapers in the archives that would have these results or references but they cost a price to obtain too. So by your rational again MR. Ravenswing Hernandez did not meet with Governor King, and was awarded a total of fourteen State of Maine Legislative Sentiment Awards by both the Houses of the Maine State Legislature. He was not in Sports Illustrated, or appear on a Wheaties Box, or was inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame among the other 5 Hall of Fames he was inducted to or he was not a American Pioneer of American Sambo. Serve 25 years as a Combat Basic Training Instructor in the United States Army, or featured in the Scholastic Book called "Maine-America the Beautiful" in the biographical dictionary 'Famous Mainers' section. Hernandez is one of five athletes featured and one of 47 other Famous Mainer's listed in the book, or work in a High Maximum Security Prison in Maine. You probably hate to admit that Hernandez was also featured in Sports Illustrated "Faces in the Crowd" and CNN/SI "Faces in the Crowd". Hernandez was not the second and last Sambo fighter to appear in Sports Illustrated "Faces in the Crowd" in October 1997 (the first was 1984 Olympic Silver Medalist Greg Gibson in 1981). At the time, Sport Illustrated readership numbered near 23 million per week, not including web viewers. It appears to me that you have lost your cool and more by what you have said in the above by insulting James Chico HErnandez and Chico 9.

Again I have in the past as well as now ask for any help to rebuild this article but what I feel what was a decent article with potential to be a much better one, has been eaten by a bunch of Piranha hungry Wikipedian’s who care nothing about following policy and can’t think outside the box to help someone within reason.

If there are references that are needed should they be scanned to support the article? There supporting evidence on yearbooks and other sources but entire passages were destroyed by Wiki Evil! Not everything in the world is recorded history is on the internet.

• ... and that being said, without touching on the peculiar allegations above (typos = racism? Seriously?), I have an observation. To wit: you created this article nearly six years ago now. Presuming you are in fact Mr. Hernandez, I very much doubt you would expect someone who had competed in your sport for six years (or, for that matter, a soldier in your unit who had been in the military for six years) to still require instruction in the fundamentals of the game. I imagine you would expect that wrestler (or soldier) to have a grasp of the rules, to have made the effort to gain that fundamental knowledge, and that sooner or later your patience for rookie mistakes would come to an end.

  In like fashion, Wikipedia has some policies and guidelines which we follow. WP:V requires that "[all] material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation." WP:ATHLETE holds that "[a]n athlete is presumed notable if the person has actively participated in a major international amateur or professional competition at the highest level such as the Olympics, and has received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject." WP:BLP requires that "[c]ontentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion." (emphasis in the original) WP:AUTO holds that "[w]riting an autobiography on Wikipedia is strongly discouraged, unless your writing has been approved by other editors in the community."

  In a wrestling match, you cannot ignore the rules and just fight however you want; you would, no doubt, be disqualified for doing so. In the military, you cannot ignore the rules and just do whatever you want; soldiers are under orders and are required to obey them. Ravenswing Thank You Very Much for your Professional help on this project / page article! I do agree with on many things that the article had many issues and they needed to be cleaned up but again I am not a WIKI Expert and still in need of much Wiki guidance. I have many Professor friends who have Ph D ‘s in English and I could of shown them the article and each one would written up in many different styles and forms. I take full responsibility for all of the faults in the article and not to blame or sell out other Wiki’s advisors who advised me to fluff it up as you put it. I was informed as long as they had a reference it statement should stand for its self. I kept running into net references that were dead links, not up to date but once were and again I believe that net references are only as good as the persons or whoever is paying for them to stay on the net. Once the bills are not paid, then the references are to be no more than a dead link. I , myself thought the article had too much personal information and trying to find all of the much needed references were very tough to obtain. I still believe that there is some salvageable material that could be used in the article. Thank you once again for your professionalism, compassion not to entirely to remove the article. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment.
