Hi, I've had a look at your request for advocacy (or advice). It certainly does not seem that the link you added was spam, although spam in the external links is a recurring problem so misunderstandings can happen. You've done everything entirely right so far, not engaging in an edit war to re-add the information and requesting assistance.
The guideline for this is here. Perhaps relevant here is the inclusion of "discussion forums" under "Links normally to be avoided", however, I advise reading the page thoroughly yourself to form your own opinion (I am not familiar with the website or article topic in question - it may be more than a forum). If you still feel the link belongs, try raising the issue on the article's talk page arguing why you think it should be included.
