Your edits[edit]

Hi ChrisThurgood,

Just letting you know that I've reverted most of your recent edits to the starts of F1 season articles. The numbering refers to the F1 seasons, not the F1 "series", as the class F1 existed before the World Driver's Championship, and non-Championship races took place as well. Thankyou for fixing the grammatical errors though (eg the sentence which started with "if" instead of "it"). Also I'm not sure calling it "flagship" is neutral enough for an encyclopedia (but this is my opinion, so feel free to start a discussion, for example on WP:F1 if you disagree). F1[edit]

I think that due to the fact Formula One is a different entity to the F1 series before it, it may seem confusing for the reader if it's the first F1 season but not the first in the F1 category. ChrisThurgood (talk) 01:24, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I suppose it is a bit confusing but I believe the reason for changing the name of the articles from "xxxx Grand Prix season" to "xxxx Formuula One" at that point is that the World Championship was introduced for 1950, and many of the Grand Prix in 1947-49 were held to other regulations. If you believe that the 1947-49 article names should also be changed that's a discussion that could be had, but the fact is that Formula One existed before 1950. And it wasn't until much later (1981 Formula One World Championship) when the championship took on something close to its modern form where "Formula One" started to be synonymous with the World Championship. Also, with regard to using terms like "flagship series" in the lead, have a look at Wikipedia:PEACOCK. A7V2 (talk) 03:23, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
