January 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm Gtwfan52. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Kalamazoo, Michigan, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. You can't add copy to a wikipedia article by cut and pasting other Wikipedia articles. A listing of the largest employers would be appropriate if you write it and not copy it, but a random listing of some companies and not others is not. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. - MrX 16:04, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

Find the links to the sources about the company and the products and post them on the talk page. I can handle it after that. You can also add the products with references directly to the article page. That would be best. Don't worry about the format for references, as that is easily fixed. Concentrate on things that make this a notable product and/or company. More detail about its operation would help. 7&6=thirteen () 16:37, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notability etc[edit]

Having a 'first' can be important - the first car, for instance. However, we wouldn't have allowed an article about Benz's first effort - only when there was reliable independent coverage showing there was something there of importance would the article appear. Your mention of "the first grill that cooks with three fuels at once" - why would one want to do this? My camping fridge works on gas, mains and 12V, but only one at a time, and I cook with gas, electric or charcoal - but in different cookers. Your one reference wasn't much more than a proof of existence. Changes of management or ownership don't mean much unless someone like Sir Richard Branson decides to sell his empire and buy a fish and chip shop instead. Read WP:CORP and WP:RS (and in view of your position WP:COI as well...), and then have a talk with User:MelanieN or User:Tokyogirl79 who are good reference diggers and article rescuers. If they said 'no chance', I'm afraid they would be right. I have seen Melanie pull an article up from being nearly pure spam to being a sound article, so it can happen. If you want your effort restoring, I'll move it into your user space, or you could just start afresh if you prefer. But do it in userspace like at User:Chris Mordi/DRAFT. "Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet™ Debuts New Hybrid Fire Grills; Only Gas Grills Capable of Cooking With Charcoal and Wood". PRWEB. April 26, 2011. Retrieved February 1, 2012. {{cite web}}: Text "locationLas Vegas, NV" ignored (help)
Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet™, the leading manufacturer of high-end outdoor kitchen equipment, introduced today the only barbeques that cook with three different fuels at once: wood, charcoal and gas. These unique grills provide the widest cooking versatility on the market, giving their owners the freedom to pursue any outdoor cooking technique they desire — using the fuel of their choice. Kalamazoo Outdoor Gourmet Hybrid Fire Grills are the only barbeques that can cook with gas, charcoal and wood - all at the same time.
"Hybrid Fire Grilling System drawers, located above the gas burners and below the cooking surface, make it possible for these powerful grills to use any combination of gas, wood or charcoal."
This was on line, but you couldn't wait? 7&6=thirteen () 18:02, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
PRWeb is not a reliable independent source. It's a press release service, and the one quoted above is definitely not WP:NPOV neutral point of view. Peridon (talk) 18:05, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Evidently you don't watch Grillmasters, as this is obviously important to professionals. I understand we need a WP:RS, but trashing these things within an hour is using a shotgun (or a full automatic AR-15) to kill a flea. 7&6=thirteen () 18:16, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That seems to be an American TV channel - I'm in the UK and don't have a television anyway. I do watch some History Channel things (I think that's what they're on - mostly archaeological stuff) at a friend's house. I wouldn't watch anything classed as 'reality' television. A lot of CSD tagged stuff goes well in well under the hour that I usually try to allow for a contest. When the deletion has been contested, and I consider the article not worth saving in its existing form, I sometimes userfy or offer advice as above if I think there is hope. You may notice I suggested two rescuers. If you want me to add you to my list of rescuers, please say. Melanie has been handling things I drop on her for some time, and Tokyogirl was happy to be dropped on too. I delete a heck of a lot of stuff, but am always happy to get a good article (not a GA) up - even out of a CoI situation as we have here. Apologies to Chris for cluttering up his talk page. Peridon (talk) 18:42, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have no stock in this, and no investment in the article, and for now I am busy in real life, and can't devote the time to rescuing this. So I'll have to leave the tilting at windmills to someone else for now. 7&6=thirteen () 18:57, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
