Hello Cindy,

I am an online ambassador for your plate tectonics class. I will assist you in your Wikipedia writings. You can send me an email Graeme Bartlett or use my talk page if you want my attention. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:33, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, to do an internal link you do this: [[Thrust tectonics]] giving this result: Thrust tectonics. In my Wikieditor you can do this with a button on top of the edit box. I have a question to ask you: why is the article called Geology of the Himalaya rather than Geology of the Himalayas? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:04, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Survey

[edit]

Hi CinColon!

I have put together a survey for female editors of Wikipedia (and related projects) in order to explore, in greater detail, women's experiences and roles within the Wikimedia movement. It'd be wonderful if you could participate!

It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!

Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!

Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you! Naming your article

[edit]

Hello Cindy,

For your proposal, since there is already an article on Tian Shan you will need to decide whether to expand this one or start a new article geology of Tian Shan or perhaps Tectonics of Tian Shan. Longer names suggest too narrow a topic, or something like an essay. If you have a well defined clear topic, it can later be expanded on by others. But I am hoping that you can do a good job all by yourself. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:09, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article draft

[edit]

Hello, I had a quick look at your article draft. In Wikipedia the style for section headings only uses upper case as the first letter, and subsequent words start with lower case. See WP:Heading if you get spare time. Once you get your images it is a good idea to scatter them around the article instead of all at the top. Also there are some weird unicode characters there such as  and . These are only minor things easily cleaned up, and I am looking forward to see content. Since you picked the narrower term "tectonics" are you going to miss out the more general geology? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:43, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. Did you know

[edit]

Hello Cindy.

at Template:Did you know nominations/Tectonics of the Tian Shan the reviewer is suggesting that the lede of the article is rewritten for non specialist to shw its significance. Then the one liner for "did you know" can be accessible to a wider audience. Even if you come up with one exciting and meaningful referenced sentence in the first paragraph that should be enough to get it over the line. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 21:20, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your article has been promoted and is now in Template:Did you know/Preparation area 4. I guess that will mean a link from the main page will appear 24 November 0000UTC. Many more people will be reading Tectonics of the Tian Shan then. (You can see the number of page views at http://stats.grok.se/en/latest/Tectonics_of_the_Tian_Shan). So keep it clean for the crowds of visitors who will be coming! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:24, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like this link is coming up on the main page in 6 and half hours. It stays up for 8 hours so there is not much time for your friends to see your article linked from the main page! It will be on from 3am to 11 am New York time. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 01:30, 23 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
